Chapter 3
Triplet Mommy’s Triumphant Return
The departure lounge reverberated with the announcement of the boarding prompt.
Angie wiped away her tears and saw Melanieâs blank eyes. She asked hurriedly, âMelanie, canât you see again?â
âNo, I canât. You have to help me,â Melanie said.
Melanie felt a little sorry. Thanks to Angie, Melanie had lived safely all these years.
âOK, no problem. Itâs what I should do.
âIâm with you this time to be your nanny and take care of you 24 hours a day.
âDonât worry. I will take good care of you,â Angie said.
After Angie and Melanie got on the plane, Angie took out the sunglasses and put them on for Melanie.
âGet some sleep. You will be fine when the plane lands,â said Angie.
âOkay,â Melanie replied in a low voice.
Then Melanie closed her eyes at ease.
Suddenly, she smelled a familiar refreshing fragrance.
In the dark, Melanie felt that a man had passed her and sat down next to her.
She could feel the manâs eyes looking at her eagerly.
âAngie? Are you there?â Melanie asked.
Melanie felt uneasy. She was extremely vulnerable every time she couldnât see anything.
There was no response.
âAngie, where are you?â Melanie asked again.
She stretched out her hand and groped for Angie, but her hand was held by a slightly cold big hand.
Melanie was taken aback and said coldly, âWho are you?â As she spoke, she withdrew her hand with great force.
Melanie elevated her voice and called out, âAngie? Angie!â
After years of occasional blindness, Melanie was sensitive to both smell and heat.
There was Angieâs smell or sound around.
Melanie was frightened at the thought of that planned accident which had happened to her in Solustria seven years earlier.
âIs that girl with short hair the one youâre looking for?â a man suddenly asked.
His voice was deep and melodious. After pausing for a while, the man added, âIt seems that she went out to get something.â
Melanie was stunned. The voice sounded so familiar.
âOh, thank you,â Melanie calmed down a little.
The man beside her didnât say anything more.
But Melanie was a little embarrassed. Why did this man keep staring at her?
Hearing Angieâs quick steps, Melanie breathed a sigh of relief.
âAngie? Where have you been?â Melanie asked.
âMelanie, you are awake?â Angie asked.
Angie continued cheerfully, âYou fell asleep, so I went to get you a nice blanket.â
âI see,â Melanie was relieved.
Angie helped Melanie cover the blanket and described to her how new and lovely it was.
âJust rest assured. When you wake up, Iâm sure you will like it,â said Angie.
âOkay,â Melanie replied briefly, only to hear Angie whisper in her ear, âMelanie, let me tell you something. The man next to you is so handsome. Heâs the most handsome in the world and even more beautiful than Eric.â
âReally?â
Melanie seemed to be calm.
Angie was really only a year younger than Melanie, but she was much more childlike.
Angie was a straightforward person. Melanie didnât know if it was wrong to take Angie with her this time.
âYeah, he has brown eyes, just like those of the three little ones,â Angie said.
âThere are many people alike, and brown eyes are very common,â Melanie said.
âHey, but heâs really handsome,â Angie tried to explain.
âIn addition to his eyes, his eyebrows and nose are also perfect. No, his mouth and jaw are also charming.
âOh, and his eyelashes are as long as yours. Theyâre so beautiful.
âAnd he has long legs. He is stylish and elegant,â Angie kept praising the manâs appearance.
But Melanie remained indifferent.
This made Angie a little angry.
âBy the way, Melanie, I see heâs looking at you all the time. His eyes are still very eager⦠I guess he has a crush on youâ¦â said Angie.
âWhat is he looking at me for? Nonsense!â Melanie said.
Melanie was helpless. She wasnât interested in pursuing anything romantic at all right now.
âJudging from your description, this man is even more handsome than Eric. How could there be such a man? I donât believe it,â Melanie said.
âOh, Melanie, I swear itâs trueâ¦â
Knowing that Angie always exaggerated, Melanie smiled and ignored her rebuttal.
âOh!â
Suddenly, the man smiled and said, âMiss, Iâll take that as a compliment. My pleasure.â
Melanie frowned. The voice and the tone were both so familiar to her, but she just couldnât remember where and when she had heard of them.
Hearing the manâs words, Angie said hurriedly, âSir, my cousin canât see now, so please forgive us.â
âWhat happened to your eyes?â the man asked with his pleasant voice again.
Melanie couldnât help frowning. She thought, âWhyâs he being so overly concerned? What do my eyes have anything to do with him?â
Melanie moved her lips but said nothing.
Seeing this, Angie answered, âMy cousinâ¦â
âAngie. Stop it.â
Knowing that Angie was going to ask for medical advice again, Melanie stopped her.
But the man turned a deaf ear to such an obvious refusal.
He was still talking enthusiastically like an old acquaintance, and his voice became softer.
âAre you going to Zerivia? I have connections in Beloris, the capital. I can have someone check on your eyes,â the man said.
Melanie felt the voice become more and more familiar.
It was vaguely like the manâs sigh seven years ago, and even his slight gasp seemed to be the same as that man.
Melanie was stunned.
But soon she realized it wouldnât be such a coincidence.
The man in front of her might be a vocalist, so it was not strange for him to have such a nice voice.
With an air of reserve, Melanie replied, âThank you, but I already have a doctor. Moreover, I wouldnât want to inconvenience you, especially considering our recent acquaintance. Thank you, sir.â
The man chuckled again and stopped talking, but he still looked at Melanie with interest.
âAngie, please help me change my seat,â said Melanie.
She was distracted by the manâs burning gaze. If she didnât change her seat, she would go crazy.
