Chapter 44
Triplet Mommy’s Triumphant Return
Chapter 44
âDid anything happen at the auction house?â Melanie asked.
Jeffâs face immediately fell as he heard her question.
âMs. Robertson, Iâm afraid the auctioneer of the Fashion Art Auction canât make it,â he replied.
âWhat happened?â
Melanieâs heart skipped a beat.
The entire spring auction had dozens of auctions. The auctioneers, lots, and event bidders had all been confirmed in advance.
If anything went wrong, it would be disastrous for the whole auction.
âWhat about the other auctioneers? Let Patricia Novak fill her in,â Melanie said, pinching the middle between her eyebrows.
âIâm afraid not. Patricia went to Solustria and wonât return until tonight. There is only one hour before the auction begins. Patricia will never make it back,â Jeff said helplessly.
Hearing this, Melanie was burning with anger.
âJeff, didnât you know how long we planned the spring auction? How could such a thing happen at this time?â
âMs. Robertson, none of us wanted that. The auctioneer suddenly had a relapse. She is still in the hospital now,â Jeff replied, looking around the room.
âDidnât you hire a young auctioneer? Why not let him host the auction?â
âWhich auctioneer did I hire? Can you be more specific?â Melanie asked.
She had a bad headache because she didnât sleep well the night before. But now the auctioneer suddenly became ill and her head was about to explode. Jeff was also puzzled. There was no sign of Ethan in the office.
âIsnât there a child in your office? He came to the company early in the morning

and stated that he was an auctioneer you hired,â Jeff replied.
As soon as Melanie heard Jeffâs description, she knew it was Ethan.
âIsnât it a lovely boy in a black hoodie?â she asked.
âYes. Where is he? He said he would wait for you in your office,â Jeff asked, confused. He began to look around the office again.
âDonât look for him. He is sleeping in the lounge. Heâs not a small auctioneer but my son.â
As Melanie spoke, she quickly looked through the Fashion Art Auction List.
She didnât notice the surprised look in Jeffâs eyes. She would let Angie host the auction if she had to.
Suddenly, the door of the lounge opened and Ethan walked out.
âMommy, Iâm an auctioneer.â
As soon as Melanie saw Ethan waking up, she asked Jeff to grab some food for Ethan.
âEthanâ¦â
Melanie put Ethan on the sofa, ready to admonish him for running away from home.
Unexpectedly, Ethan threw himself into her arms and began to cry as soon as she spoke.
âMommy, youâre too partial. You let Elias stay here but sent me back to the island. You didnât love me at all.â
Melanie opened her mouth to speak and then closed it.
âEthan, I donât want to separate from you either. But if I donât send you back to the island, theyâll take all of you away from me,â she explained.
Ethan raised his face and blinked his bright eyes. âWho will take us away? Is it Daddy?â
âYes, I donât want to lose you guys,â Melanie said, holding Ethan in her arms.

âBut I heard from Elias that Daddy was a very nice person, and the Lambert family was also very kind.â
Hearing Eliasâ words, Melanie suddenly felt bad.
âYou contacted Elias. Did he ask you to come to Zerivia?â
âNo. I missed him so much that I contacted him. Donât worry, Mommy. No one else knows,â Ethan replied.
âThatâs good. I will bring Elias home tonight and you two can meet each other. But you have to go back to the island with Uncle Enzo tomorrow, okay?â
Eliasâ eyes flashed. He then lowered his head and said obediently, âOkay, whatever you say.â
Jeff brought a lot of delicious food.
Seeing that Ethan ate happily and agreed to go back to the island, Melanie felt relieved.
When she was about to have a good chat with Ethan, he said he would like to watch. the auction.
Jeff also volunteered to take Ethan to watch the auction of Rising Star. Melanie agreed after thinking for a while.
There were ten minutes till the Fashion Art Auction began. Angie hadnât arrived
yet.
Melanie couldnât think about anything else right now. She had to get to the auction. hall to keep the situation under control.
As soon as she arrived at the entrance, she heard Jeffâs voice on the speaker.
âIâm sorry, everyone. The original auctioneer was unable to host the auction due to a sudden illness. But you can rest assured that weâve specifically invited Ethan as our guest auctioneer.â
âNo!â
Melanie ran to the venue and saw Ethan standing on the auction block in a black shiny suit.

Just when she thought Ethan would be booed out of the auction block, there was a huge cheer.
she wondered, âWhatâs going on?â
A childish voice was heard.
âThank you for your love, everyone. Youâre right, everyone. Iâm Ethan Robertson, the auctioneer who won the title of âWhite Gloveâ at the Royal Auction in Tooncen and set a record for twelve straight white glove sales.â
As soon as Ethan finished his words, the whole audience burst into applause again!
âWhat the hell? When did that happen?â Melanie muttered.
She hurriedly took out her phone and googled the video of the Royal Auction in
Tooncen.
She then saw Ethan in a black suit standing on the high auction block. He pounded his gavel as he closed bidding.
âLot 4032, âBehind the Smileâ is the only fabric painting in the world. 1,500,000 dollars. Going once, going twice, sold!â
âLot 4042, âEmpty Fingersâ, a sculpture from the sculptor Chris Norman, 900,000 dollars! Going once, going twice, sold!â
âShit!â
It occurred to Melanie that every auction had a live video.
Even if the Lambert family didnât attend the auction, they would understood everything once saw these videos.
Melanieâs heart immediately sank.
She wished she would rush to the auction block, drag Ethan away, and send him back to the island right away.
Just as she was in a dilemma, a low voice suddenly sounded.
âMelaâ¦â
