Chapter 108
Mafia Kings: Valentino: Dark Mafia Romance Series #6 by Olivia Thorn
Mafia Kings: Valentino: Chapter 108 Ludavica emerged from the back seat of the last car.
She did not look happy â and I knew exactly why.
She and I were in the same boat:
Neither of us was going to get to marry the woman we loved.
âWhereâs Isabella?â I asked.
Ludavica gestured towards the car. âWaiting for you to go inside.â
âWhy?â
She looked at me like I was stupid. âBecause youâre not supposed to see the bride until she gets to the altar.â
âOh... right.â
The bride.
Knowing that the next time I saw Isabella, she would become my wife â
It made my stomach hurt.
I tried to distract myself with chitchat.
âYou look nice,â I told Ludavica.
âThanks,â she said glumly.
She was dressed in a pale pink dress, looking all the world like a bridesmaid â
Which is when I realized thatâs exactly what she was.
âWait â are you the maid of honor?â I asked, shocked.
âDuh,â she said in irritation.
âBut I donât have a best man!â
She glanced past me at my brothers. âLooks like you have plenty of options.â
I turned to look at them.
Dario?
No. He was the Don. I couldnât ask him â it just wasnât done.
Niccolo â
FUCK no.
Adriano or Roberto would have been a good choice â
But in the end, I knew who it had to be.
âHey, Massimo,â I called out, âwould you be my best man?â
âYouâre asking me now?â
âYes or no, asshole?â
He grinned. âItâd be my honor. Where are the rings?â
I froze.
I had no idea.
âHere,â Don Vicari said as he walked over and held them out in the palm of his hand.
Massimo struggled to pick them up with his giant fingers.
âHow did you know my ring size?â I asked Vicari.
âI didnât. My daughterâs will fit â you can get yours resized later,â he said dismissively.
Massimo looked at me like Jesus.
Vicari leaned in close and said in a voice only I could hear, âDonât fuck this up.â
âI wonât,â I snarled.
He glared at me, then turned to the crowd and spoke loudly. âThe rest of you can take your places. Iâll escort my daughter inside once youâre settled.â
Everyone filed inside the church â Dario and Alessandra, Adriano and Bianca, Lucia, Roberto and Mei-ling, Lars and Rachel, and Niccolo.
Not to mention a dozen of Don Vicariâs foot soldiers.
As Massimo began to limp inside with his cane, I paused at the doorway and thought of Cat.
Of everything weâd done in the chapel yesterday â
And what sheâd said right before she walked out.
Iâve always been your dirty little secret.
The servant girl you fucked in the pantry.
The one you wouldnât admit to your family you were sleeping with.
The one you didnât want to marry.
I must have been staring off into space, because Massimo turned and looked back at me.
âYou ready?â he asked gently.
I took a long moment to answer.
âNo,â I finally muttered. âBut letâs fuckinâ get it over with.â
