Chapter l203
The Luna Choosing Game
Chapter 0203
âSince our only lead right now is Terry, then I propose this idea,â Julian said. âWe need to snoop around
his mansion.â
âYou want us to walk straight into the lionâs den.â Nicholas crossed his arms over his chest.
âNot walk,â Julian said. âCreep. Itâs not snooping if they know you are there. So we move silently and
undetected until we find whatever information we need.â
âItâs a big mansion,â I said.
âHe has an office,â Julian said. âThatâs where we need to look.â
âI donât like the thought of Piper in there,â Nicholas said. âWe know Terry has some kind of attachment
to you. Youâll be in the most danger if we go.â
My heart raced for sure. I wasnât looking forward to crawling through Terryâs lair, just like Iâd rather avoid seeing him altogether for the rest of my life. But we needed this information, and I could help. And if
worse came to worse, I would have the chance to prove myself.
âIsnât that what your self-defense lessons are for?â I asked him, coc k i n g my brow.
He glowered at me. âOne lesson is not enough.â
âSo teach me more then.â
âIâll have to.â In his eyes, a flash of fire sparked. He remembered as well as I the near k*ss we shared. when heâd held me during our first lesson. When I struggled in his arms, and we both felt the heat rising
between us.
I swallowed thickly, remembering it now. A bit of that fire rekindled inside me now, looking at him, and his wide shoulders, and his k*ssable l*ps. If I moved a bit closer
âIâm sorry to cut in, but weâre doing lessons now?â Julian asked. His smile had taken on a sharp edge.
I forced myself to look away from Nicholas, so that I could recover myself. Then I cleared my throat.
âNicholas is teaching me some self-defense maneuvers,â I said.
âShe wanted to learn,â Nicholas added.
Julianâs brow lowered. âLet me guess. Hereâs how to break a hold, and the like.â
My cheeks burned a little. He no doubt saw.
âWell, if Nicholas wants to teach you how to protect your b*dy, then someone else should teach you how to protect your mind,â Julian said. âFairâs fair. Terry likes his mind games, so to help prepare for them,
you should take menta l self-defense lessons from me.â
I remembered Terryâs mind games and the off-putting things he liked to say around me. I wouldnât mind having some preparation against that, and Julian seemed earnest, even if Nicholas was glaring at him.
âOkay,â I said. âThat sounds like a good idea.â
Julian nodded. Nicholas continued glaring.
âMaybe we should get back on topic,â Nicholas said.
âRight,â I agreed.
Julian shrugged. âIâll nudge the producers to push for a competition event at Terryâs mention. At this
point, heâs inserted himself into everything anyway. We might as well give him the attention he so
desperately craves. It would give us reason to be there in case we are caught.â (1)
âHeâll hide all of his information if thereâs an event there,â Nicholas said. âEven if we could get into his
office, I wouldnât expect to find something there. It would be a needless risk. Weâd be on his home turf.
He could set traps for Piper and make her disappear.â
âYou donât know that,â I said.
Nicholas held my gaze. The gold in his eyes shimmered. âIâm not risking you.â
The words warmed me, but they were misguided. âItâs not up to you.â
Nichola sâs jaw tightened.
Julian glanced between them. âListen, this might not be the only way. Itâs just the most obvious one. We
donât have to rush into things.â
âPiper needs time to prepare,â Nicholas said. âShe needs more lessons.â
âI get that,â Julian said. âWe can delay this as long as possible to give her that time. It might take me a
while to convince the producers anyway.â
âI should have a say in this,â I said.
They both looked at me. Then they looked at each other again, as if I hadnât said anything.
