Chapter 105
His Promise: The Mafia’s Babies
âChrissie!â I called out while Siena tried to do the same. âYou canât even talk yet. What are you doing?â I laughed as I picked her up..
âSheâs in a good moodâ Christian chuckled and leaned against the door. âYes, sheâs in a better mood than you are.â
âSerena, we have to talkâ He spoke with a serious look on his face. âAre you mad about the Dario thing again? Itâs tomorrow-I was just hanging out with the girls and took a walk with my parents.â I reassured him and kissed Siena.
âLook, she even happier today!â I told him before I walked towards him and handed her over. âShe is He spoke dryly and ignored her while she tried her hardest to get his attention. âWhatâs wrong with you today!â I scoffed and took her from his arms.
âAnyway, she needs to eat, and she needs to take a nap-I donât know whatâs wrong today, but you have to get over it, okay?â I smiled and walked past him as I made my way to the stairs.
The glow he used to have had vanished just like that. He wasnât the same ball of happiness he had been for the past months, and it had been like this for a few days.
I understood the unfortunate situation with his father, but that was no reason to treat Siena like that.
After I gave Siena her bottle, I laid her down for a nap and made my way to Christianâs office. If he wouldnât cheer up himself, I would help him.
âTell me whatâs wrong-itâs boring without you.â I barged into the office without knocking on the door and slumped down in the chair.
Christian took a deep breath and closed his laptop before looking up with a sad look on his face.
âWhatâs wrong with you?â I laughed at him. âDid you go bankrupt?â
âSerena, we need to talk.â He sighed as he stared into my eyes. âI know, thatâs why I came here-
whatâs it this time.â I smiled, thinking about the options.
Would he be jealous again?
Would it be because I took Siena today?
âSerena, before I tell you this-you have to know that I love you so much and that I never planned on hurting you.â Christian began. âI need you to know that I donât think Iâve ever loved anyone as much as I love you and Siena and thereâs no one else for me.â
My heart sunk at his words, and every bit of hope had left my body. These were definitely no good words. to start any conversation.
âWhatâs it?â I nervously asked as I prepared myself for the worst.
Was he going to break up with me?
âChristian, whatâs it?â I asked him with a devastated look on my face. Christian gave me a sympathetic look. and took a deep breath while I was eagerly waiting for his next words. âSerenaâ
Christian sighed.
âA while back, while you were in the safehouse, I made a stupid mistake, and thereâs no excuse for what Iâm about to tell you.â He spoke right before he took a deep breath.
âPlease donât tell me you cheated, anything but that.â I stopped him from talking and hoped for the best, but the look on his face said otherwise. âIâm sorry.â He whispered and reached out to hold my hand âWhen, with who?â I asked, startled. It felt as if my soul had left my body, and I had no idea how to process this news. âI donât understand. Iâm lost.â
âCheated as in talking to someone else, kissed someone else, or slept with someone else?â I asked as I got up from the chair. I didnât even know why I asked that question because it wouldnât matter.
âIâm sorry.â He spoke once again and stepped from behind the desk while I took a step back. âI asked you a question.â
âWas it the night you went clubbing? The night I told you to have fun?â I asked calmly while I still waited for a clear answer. Christian avoided my gaze and looked anywhere but my eyes. âIt was, wasnât it?â
âIf youâre saying. Iâm sorry, again, I will kill you. I need answers!â I raised my voice at him. âYou slept with someone else while I was pregnant, locked in a safehouse, and youâre only telling me this now, after deceiving me and promising me a future together, yes or no?â
âYes,â Christian admitted and took a step forward. âI did, and Iâm so sorry, and I know that Iâm a terrible person and that I donât deserve you-â
âI donât want to hear it. Hereâs your ring.â I sighed and pulled it from my finger. I was not going to argue. I was not going to fight back-1 wasnât going to do any of that. âSerena, please donât do this.â
Christian pleaded.
âTake your ring. Weâre done.â I told him before I pushed it into his hands. âAnd just so you know, Iâm leaving, donât follow me.â
I stormed out of his office and made my way to our bedroom while he followed me and called out my name. âI told you not to follow me!â I yelled at him as I made my way to the closet.
âSerena, letâs talk about it,â Christian spoke, but I pulled my suitcase out of the closet and pushed him. aside. âI donât want to talk to you.â
âIf weâre going to talk about it right now, I will kill you, so Iâm not going to talk about it, now move!â I yelled as I pulled everything I could out the closet and threw it in my suitcase.
âIâm taking Siena with me.â I informed him after I managed to close the suitcase and pushed it out of the room. âNo, youâre not!â Christian spoke and placed his hand on top of the suitcase. âYes, I am-
move.â
âNo, look at yourself-youâre not in the right state of mind!â He spoke as he pushed away my hand.
âYou cheated on a pregnant woman, but Iâm not in my right state of mind?â I questioned him and grabbed the suitcase from his hands. âI carried Siena for months, Iâm her mom-so I will take her!â
âYouâre right. Iâm sorry.â Christian apologized and moved in front of me to stop me from walking. âLet me at least help you.â
I rolled my eyes as he followed me to Sienaâs room and picked her up. âSo, when are you coming back?â He asked me while I frowned my eyebrows. âI told you weâre done.â
âWhat do you mean, done?â Christian asked. He was genuinely confused, and it angered me even more. How could he not know the consequences of his actions? âDone as in thereâs no us and thereâs no coming back, weâre done.â
âItâs fine. Iâll give you all the time you need.â Christian nodded his head. âIâll give you all the time you need, just donât give up on me-thatâs all Iâm asking.â
âI donât need any time. Weâre doneâ I spoke and reached for Siena, but he pushed away my hand. âI ask Vernon to take you wherever you want to go Come on.â
1 scoffed and glared at him.â I canât even look at you-you disgust me.â
Christian took Siena downstairs and walked to Vernon while I followed him with my suitcase. âYou didnât pack anything for Siena-â
âI donât care. I need to get the hell away from you.â 1 glared at him. He was right, I didnât pack anything for Siena, but that was okay. All I wanted was for him to get out of my sight.
âYes, I understand.â Christian sighed. If he had only listened before.
âVernon, please take her wherever she wants to go and make sure sheâs safe,â Christian spoke.
Vernon had a confused look on his face and looked from me to Christian. âNo questions, please.â
Christian sighed.
âSure,â Vernon replied and grabbed the suitcase from his hands. âWhatâs wrong? Donât you want anyone to know youâre a cheater?â I chuckled at him. âIâll contact you to see Siena whenever I feel like it, but I donât want anything to do with you for a while.â
âSerena, Iâm sorry.â Christian apologized, but I could absolutely not hear another apology again.
âDonât apologize to me. Apologize to Siena.â
Christian looked down at Siena, who was still fast asleep in his arms, and kissed her forehead.
âSerena, please promise me you wonât take her away from me.â
âTake her away?â I frowned my eyebrows. âChristian, I grew up without a family-I would never do something like that, you know that!â
âYes, yes, I know,â Christian spoke in defense. âI mean, I want to believe that you know that-but thereâs clearly a lot you donât know about me.â I spoke and pointed my head to Sienaâs car seat.
âTimeâs up.â
Christian took a deep breath and took a minute with Siena before he buckled her up in her car seat and shifted his attention to me. âIf you know whatâs best for you, you wonât look at me.â I lowered my head and did my best not to look at him.
Looking at him would only make me feel sorry for the decision I made, and I did not want that. I had to do what was best for Siena and could not forgive him.
âSerenaâ¦â Christian took a step forward and wrapped his arms around me. I was in a battle with myself and leaned in to hold him, but just as fast as I held him, I realized what I was doing and pushed him away. âNo, you canât fix this!â
âIâm sorry.â He whispered. Christian letting me go my own way and not trying to stop me was enough to prove that he that he was aware of his disgusting behavior. I knew what I had to do, and there was nothing left to say. There was nothing to cry about.
Vernon, who looked back and forth from me to Christian, seemed extremely uncomfortable. âAre you okay?â He asked me while I nodded my head. âFine, letâs go.â I smiled at Vernon to reassure him and got in the car without giving Christian another glance.
âSo where to?â Vernon asked without asking any questions.
It was a spontaneous decision, but I decided to go to the people who would ask me the least questions. I was not in the mood to discuss everything and still needed some time to process everything.
âTo my parents.â
