Chapter 138
His Promise: The Mafia’s Babies
âYou look beautiful Beau smiled. âI mean, you look like me, so it shouldnât be that difficult, but you look beautiful I looked at my reflection in the mirror one last time and spun around so I could look at the dress.
âChristian has good taste. Iâll give him that.â
âI guess.â Beau chuckled. âBut why are you taking Siena with you?â
I looked down at Siena, who leaned her tiny head against my shoulder. âBecause I canât live without her, and so it wonât be awkward between us.â
âYouâll understand in a few months, being without your baby is difficult.â
I knew bringing a baby to a date wasnât that ideal, but Siena being around us meant we would actually have something to talk about. Christian decided to organize the date his house, which made it even more awkward than it had to be.
âIt warms my heart to see the two of you.â Lita smiled as she walked into the hallway. âThe two of you are so close. Itâs like the two of you have known each other for years.â
âLetâs not make this awkward,â Beau spoke. It was typically Lita. She couldnât live a day without reminding Beau and I about how we didnât spend our childhood together. As far as everyone was concerned, Beau and I were having a sibling day. I wouldnât tell my family the truth about Christian until they were mature enough to handle it.
We werenât even together, we were only friends, and I still felt the need to hide it. That was how judgmental the Alfonzoâs were.
âI want to take a picture of the three of you!â Lita spoke as she pushed us together. âSheâs so annoying.â I whispered while Beau agreed with my statement. âShe is, but at least we have a mom.â
âWe have to go now, bye,â I said and pulled Beau out the door. âThere was no need to be this rude.â
Beau scolded. âSheâs still our mom.â
âOne day when you and dad start arguing again, I will definitely use this against you.â I told Beau.
The two argued at least once a week, so it wouldnât take that long.
âHow about you take care of Siena?â I suggested as I handed her over to Beau who had a startled look on his face. âW-what?â
âYou have to learn these kinds of things. You donât want Christian to beat you, right?â I asked.
Losing was Beauâs worst nightmare. He always had to be on top of everything, and he always felt the need to succeed.
âDonât compare me to Christianâ Beau gulped as he stared at Siena, who stared right back at him.
âWhy is she staring at me?â He asked. âOh my god, youâre too much.â I yawned. âRight after telling everyone how good you are at taking care of Siena.â
âI am good.â Beau defended himself. âI just want to know why sheâs staring at me.â
âItâs because sheâs waiting for you to put her in her car seat.â I smiled. I did have to admit, Siena was just like her dad and couldnât stop staring at people. âI can do that,â Beau spoke.
After a failed attempt. I decided to help him out and shook my head in disbelief. âI worry for you.â I joked while he gave me a confused look. He always took everything seriously, but I thought it was a cute charm.
âIâm kidding.â I smiled. âLetâs go.â
After a while, we arrived at the mansion, and just as expected, Isobelâs voice was so loud that we could hear it from the driveway. âBe nice,â Beau told me. âWhatever happens is on me and not on Isobelâ
âYouâre telling me that?â I laughed. He was the one who threatened to kill Christian, but I was the one who had to be nice?
âI donât have anything against Christian, and whatever I had against him will be dealt with this evening Beau smiled. His statement scared me and I had no clue what he had plannen, but all I could hope for was that he wouldnât give Christian a hard time. I grabbed Siena from his hands as we made our way inside.
âWhy doesnât he lock his door?â Beau complained. He always had something to complain.
âBeau!â Isobel yelled out and flew in his arms while all I wanted was to disappear from earth.
Christian stood on the opposite side of me and took a look at Siena before he glanced back at Beau. There was nothing more awkward than this.
Beau pushed Isobel out his grip and glared at Christian. Please donât do anything stupid, I prayed to myself but unfortunately that prayer could not be answered because before I could do anything.
Beauâs fist connected with Christianâs jaw.
âBeau, what the hell?â Isobel spoke while I gasped in surprise, but Christian was unfazed and so was Beau. âDonât bother. I deserved it.â Christian chuckled and stuck out his hand. âSo are we good now?â
âYes.â Beau nodded. âI feel like I should thank you for everything, because you saved me this time-
but if youâll ever hurt Serena againâ¦I will kill you.â Beau spoke and glared at Christianâs hand. What was wrong (with him?
âCome on,â Isobel giggled and pulled him away. This time Christian reached for Siena and grabbed her from my hands. âI didnât know you were taking her with you.â He smiled. âBut Iâm glad you did, I missed.
her.â
âI know.â I mumbled. âAnd Iâm really sorry about Beau-â
âDonât be.â Christian shrugged. âYou know, I donât get scared easily but for some reason your brother really scares me.â
I laughed at Christianâs words. They were not that different from everyone elseâs and it was somewhat the truth. Even Matteo feared him, which was probably the reason why he kept him close. Beau was bold and unpredictable. âYou look really beautiful.â Christian complimented me.
âI found out more about Dario.â I spoke. I wasnât good with compliments and especially not if they came from Christian. âIs that so?â Christian chuckled.
âIâm happy to hear that, but thatâs not what I want to talk about right now-we can do that later in private. I also have something to tell you.â He spoke as he stuck out his free hand and pulled me along with him.
Beau and Isobel were glued to each other and poor Beau was getting his cheeks pinched by Isobel.
âDo you see that satisfied smile on his face? This is ridiculous.â I scoffed at Christian.
âI would never lose my pride like that, I would rather eat Sienaâs poop diaper.â Christian agreed and pulled a disgusted look. I let out an awkward giggle and nodded my head.
We had never been like that. It was because Christian would never allow it. âWait, I didnât mean it like that.â Christian sighed. âI was supposed to fix things and I only made it worse.â
âItâs okay, it doesnât matter.â I shrugged, but Christian wouldnât let it rest. âCome on, pinch my cheeks.â Christian offered and moved his head closer.
He was teasing me, but that was the person he was and I was fine with it. It was the person I fell in love with and I didnât want him to change. âI donât feel like staring at this disgusting image and Beau who seems nothing like Beau. Iâm hungry.â I huffed.
âYes, I made you all of your favorites.â Christian smiled and wrapped his arm around my shoulder.
He led me to the table and placed Siena in her chair while Isobel and Beau joined us. âYou surprise me, Christian Beau chuckled as he looked down at the dishes.
âHow about you teach me how to make all of this and Iâll teach you how not to cheat on my sister.â
He laughed at his own joke, while everyone else was quiet. Was he serious?
I laughed along with Beau to case the tension while Isobel joined me, but Christian remained unimpressed. We ate in silence and the only one making noise was Siena. âDid I make this awkward?â Beau sighed after a while.
âI promise you, it was a joke.â He chuckled. âI forgave you for being a cheater, and I donât care about the fact that you used to sleep around with my fiancee and still hang out with her or that you left Vince out there to die while you carried out your brother and barely visit him.â He smiled.
âAll of that disappeared when you decided to become the knight in shining armor and saved my Isobel. The moment you saved her, all of your mistakes vanished.â
âBeau.â I whispered. âThatâs enough.â
âNo-thatâs okay.â Christian spoke, pissed. This whole thing was a bad idea, I shouldâve known better.
âThis is the most Iâve ever heard him talk since the day I met him and he clearly has a lot to say.â
Christian shrugged.
âSerena, I said I wanted to fix things with you-so if your brother has something to say, he can say it right. now so we can work on this issue.â
âGood.â Beau chuckled. âI really donât care anymore, I just felt like getting on your nerves.â
âWell, youâre doing a good job at it.â Christian spoke. He was holding himself back for my sake, and it made me happy to see it. Beau made fun of him, and Christian accepted it because he didnât want to ruin my evening.
These were the kind of comments which he could expect if we were to get back together. If he thought Beau was bad, he would not be prepared for Matteo and my brothers. Beauâs anger was nothing compared. to them.
âIsobel, we should go shop for baby clothes sometime.â I changed the subject. âWe should. I would actually love to do that.â Isobel smiled, but that smile wasnât sincere. Also, she mustâve felt hurt by Beauâs comments. It was unnecessary to bring up her past with Christian.
âDid Christian fart, or is it the baby?â Beau commented after a weird smell filled the dining room.
âHaha, really funny,â Christian spoke, sarcastic.
âItâs Siena. Sheâs your niece, so how about you change her diaper?â Christian glared at him. The two of them used to get along so well, and Beau used to respect him, but all of this was just laughable at this point. There had to be more behind this, and it was unlike Beau to be this childish.
âI mean, you know how to change a diaper, right? Itâs the same way Isobel changes yours.â
âYou mean the same way the Lamberti changes yours.â Beau smiled.
âYou guys, come on.â Isobel giggled. âLetâs not be like this.
+15 Bonus âBe like what?â Christian and Beau spoke at the same time while I gave Isobel a bothered look. I want to say that this was not how I expected things to go, but this was exactly how I imagined it.
âChristian and I are good, right Christian?â Beau smiled. âRight, not a single issue.â Christian smiled back. We werenât even at the family shoot, and things were already a mess. I could only imagine what it was going to be like.
âCome on, follow me,â Christian spoke and grabbed Siena while Beau followed him upstairs. This mustâve been why Beau told me to be nice to Isobel. It was because he had other intentions with Christian. âBeau told me he wouldnât try anything. Iâm so so sorry.â Isobel apologized.
âAll I wanted was to fix your relationship, but heâs only making it worse-
âHe isnât.â I chuckled. âYou still have a lot to learn about my brother. He is doing this for me.â
âWhat?â Isobel spoke, confused. âPlease help me understand. How is bullying Christian beneficial to you?â
âHeâs not bullying him,â I smirked. âHeâs testing him.â
