Chapter 175
His Promise: The Mafia’s Babies
I made my way upstairs and walked past the security like I owned the place, which was practically the case. It was probably due to them being scared of Beau, but at least it worked because no one dared to stop me.
The only person who would hold me back was the same nurse from the last time who stood in front of the door, but I could also deal with her. I glared at the nurse from a distance and noticed how she tried her hardest to avoid my gaze.
âArenât you going to let me in?â I asked as I reached the door. The nurse almost trembled in fear and immediately stepped aside. I hated using this power over them to treat them like crap, and I didnât want to scare anyone, but it was the only way.
I walked through the door and stared at Gina, who was getting her wound cleaned by a nurse. She had a smile on her face and seemed way too comfortable. All I wanted was to smack it right off.
I cleared my throat, making them both turn around, and gave them a forced smile. âI can take it from here,â I told the nurse and grabbed the cloth from her hands. âBut Christian said-
âChristianâs not here right now, so Iâm the boss,â I told her as I pushed her towards the door. âThank you, bye!â
âMiss-â
Before the woman could say another word, I closed the door in her face and brushed off my hands.
âSo, thatâs been taken care of-right?â I rolled my eyes at Gina.
Serena, I donât want any trouble-please!â Gina pleaded while I stepped closer. âWhat are you on about? Iâm just going to clean you up, and thatâs it.â I chuckled while I played with the cloth in my hands. âCome 1.
âO-okay then,â Gina stuttered and scooted closer. I damped the cloth into the warm water and brought it to the wound on her cheek. She seemed so fragile, and it was not that difficult to see that she mustâve gone through a lot, but that was no excuse for her being here.
âIâm so sorry for everything that has happened to you, and I want you to know that none of it is your fault.â I smiled as I brushed my hand through her hair. âYou had the opportunity to give the masked man information about Christian, and you choose not to. Thatâs amazing.â
âThanks.â Gina smiled. âI would do anything for Christian. You know that.â
âYes.â I glared at her. âI do know that, and thatâs the issue.â
âStay away from him. Youâve done enough.â I told her in a desperate attempt to get the message through her head. Gina fumbled her hands and started shaking.
âIf youâre so desperate for a man, go and steal someone elseâs, but not mine,â I spoke word for word. I was always so loud about not wanting to fight anyone over a man, but things had changed.
All of my issues with Christian started with Gina, so it would also end here. It was time for her to leave.
Gina moved aside and lowered her head. âI-it isnât like that.â She sighed. â1-1 wanted to leave, but Christian âThen leave!â I yelled out while she flinched at my reaction. âI will give you until the end of the day to pack your shit and leave. I donât want to see your face when I get back here. You know what, I actually donât want to see your face ever again!â
My thoughts got interrupted by Christian as he placed his hand on my thigh and moved closer to grab my attention. I gave him a questioning look while he gave me a smile in return. âYou didnât give me the chance to say this,â He began. âBut you look beautiful.â
Carmen closed her laptop and squealed while she stared at us. âI want what the two of you have?â
She spoke. Poor sister, if she only knew. This was probably Christianâs way of apologizing because he knew he was wrong this time.
I pushed away Christianâs hand with an embarrassed blush on my face and lowered my head so that he couldnât see the smile on my face.
âGood morning guys, Iâm ready to go.â Enzo suddenly skipped into the kitchen with a bright smile.
âEnzo,â Christian sighed. âI heard you told Carmen that she and Luke are allowed to hold their birthday party hereâ¦in my house that you havenât paid for.â
âYes, thatâs true.â Enzo shrugged while he opened the fridge as if he lived here. He grabbed some grapes and pushed them into his mouth. âThey didnât have any time to celebrate their birthday because of the whole Fabio thing, and that was all on you,â Enzo spoke.
âIf you had never knocked up Serena, then none of this wouldâve happened.â
âTrue,â Christian shrugged while he looked at me. I was shocked by his eye contact but gave him a shru return. âIâll acknowledge that, so Iâm just going to keep my mouth shut.â He admitted.
âBut itâs the best thing that happened to us, isnât it?â Christian smiled at me. It was good to know we wer back to being normal again, but this had to stop. We couldnât just argue one minute and get along the next.
âIt is.â I agreed as I moved my eyes to Siena. âItâs like this child never runs out of energy!â Enzo laughed while Siena bounced up and down in her chair. He grabbed Siena and spun her around, while I couldnât help but laugh at the thought that it was the exact baby he so desperately wanted to get rid of.
âSerena, can we talk?â Christian asked. I almost had the urge to tell him that it was not the right time, but 1 wasnât in the mood for another argument.
âSure,â I smiled as I got up to follow him. âAs a matter of fact, we should talk.â
We walked to the hallway and stared at each other in awkward silence. I was waiting for Christian to say something while he was waiting for me to open my mouth. âYouâre the one who called me here.â
1 commented.
âIâve been thinking about the way Iâve been treating you, and youâre right,â Christian spoke. âI was unfair towards you, and Iâm so sorry.â
It felt as if I was dreaming, and it took me some time to get his words through my head. âYouâre what?â
âIâm sorry,â Christian repeated. âI was only thinking about myself, and it hadnât even crossed my mind that you mightâve felt uncomfortable with having her here,â
âYes, youâre absolutely right,â I spoke, flustered. At least this was going in the right direction, but luckily Gina was someone we didnât have to worry about for much longer.
âSo Iâll talk to her after we get back here, and Iâll make sure she leaves,â Christian spoke. âI never wanted to hurt you. I just wanted to make sure that she wouldnât hurt herself.â He explained. âBut if she makes you feel uncomfortable, Iâll make sure she leaves.â
Those words felt like heaven to me, but that was not necessary anymore.
By the time we would be back, she would be long gone.
âDeal,â I smiled and wrapped my arms around Christianâs neck. âAnd Iâm sorry for what I said about your dad. You know I love Lucio.â
âYes, I know.â
âI know we say this every day, but I donât want us to argue anymore-itâs not healthy for Siena.â He sighed. disappointed. It wasnât healthy for Siena, and there was indeed no point in us being together if this was the future we were going to give her. âI know.â
âAnd you really do look good,â Christian complimented me again. So he was capable of doing it. He just decided not to. âYou should compliment me more often. I giggled before I gently pressed my lips against his.
Christian chuckled and moved his hand to my back. âWhat are you talking about? I give you praises all the time.â He spoke proudly. âI know all about your praise kink.â
âI donât have a praise kink.â I rolled my eyes at him. âAnd I mean real praises, like when I actually have clothes on.â
He still wasnât getting it, and I hated myself for thinking this way, but it was actually cute. âOkay, well, Christian smirked. âYou also look very beautiful with clothes on,â
âDid someone say clothes?â Enzoâs loud voice interrupted us as he pushed himself in between us.
âYou didnât tell Christian about you seeing me naked, have you?â
âWhat?â Christian exclaimed, confused while I shook my head. âHeâs lying. It wasnât like that.â I told Christian. Enzo was shocked, which was probably because he was stupid enough to expose himself.
âYes, I know,â Christian spoke, repulsed. âYou donât have to explain yourself. Iâm just disgusted.â
So was I.
âWhere are your puppies?â Enzo aske. âPuppies?â Christian frowned.
âYes, Marc, Johnny, Beau-you name it.â Enzo chuckled. âYour puppies!â
I felt like I shouldâve actually punched him in his face for calling my brother a dog, but I was not in the mood to do that.
âDonât call Beau a dog,â Christian told him after seeing the look on my face.
Wo others. âMarc and Johnny will I couldnât help but laugh at the idea of him protecting Beau, but not the be there later, and Beau is coming with Isobel,â Christian explained. âDario will get his apology. Iâll make sure of it.â
âIsobel and co apologizing?â Enzo scoffed while my thoughts went to Marc. Who wouldâve thought someone like Marc, who was probably the most stable out of Christianâs friends, was also responsible for bullying Dario?
âYou have big dreams, little brother.â Enzo patted his shoulder. âI admire you for that.â.
âWe should probably go now, Iâm worried about grandpa, and he hasnât stopped calling me,â
Christian spoke. I figured he told Enzo everything since the two seemed to be close nowadays.
I turned around to look for Siena, but Enzo stopped me and wrapped his arm around my shoulder as he led me outside. âYouâre not going to die today. Youâll see her in a few hours!â
âCome on. We have more important stuff to worry about.â
