Chapter 185
His Promise: The Mafia’s Babies
âI-I what I exclaimed as I stared at the three girls who I hadnât seen in several months. Luna, Faith, and Olivia They ran over to me and attacked me into a group hug while I was still trying to process the situation. Hour did he even manage to do that?
âW-what are you guys even doing here?â I gasped, surprised. âGoing to Panama, of course,â Luna cheered.
âI missed you so much. You look different!â Faith commented while she brushed her hand through my hair. âI think itâs your cheeks. You donât really look like a squirrel anymore.â
âDonât lie. Her cheeks are still fat!â Olivia spoke as she pinched me in my cheeks.
âI-is this realâ I whispered with tears in my eyes. I turned around to look at Christian, who had a nervous look on his face and was probably hoping for the best.
How did leven feel? Hearing I would be going with my friends made me feel a whole lot more excited and changed a lot of things.
âChristian, did you do this?â
Christian grew a shy smile on his face and shrugged his shoulders. âYes, he did!â Luna confirmed.
âHe said you needed a break and that you missed us, so here we are!â
I smiled at Christian before I flew into his arms and gave him a tight hug. âThank you, thank you, thank you!â
Christian seemed relieved and pulled me in closer. I was so determined to do everything I could to stay here because I didnât want to leave Siena. I still didnât want to leave her, but seeing my friends made it a bit easier.
I didnât reach out to them because I thought they might not like me anymore-but Christian did, and I couldnât be more grateful. âYouâre leaving in four hours. Your suitcase is already packed-I took care of everything.â
âW-what about my passport?â I laughed, surprised. âI took care of everything.â Christian repeated as he pointed his head to the suitcase. âAll you have to do is work along âYes, whatâs the big issue?â Faith commented. âSo two days?â I asked Christian. I knew he was up to something, but I honestly couldnât care less. The idea of a vacation with my friends sounded great.
âJust two days, and thatâs it,â Christian explained.
I looked from my friends to Christian as I was still trying to process the situation. âI mean, why notâ
Iâm here for it!â
âGreat, Isobel should be here soon,â Christian informed me. Just like that, my brains started going to work. and I slowly began to realize the harsh truth.
Christian was probably up to something and needed Isobel to keep an eye on me.
âIsobel?â I frowned. Christian seemed nervous. âYes, sheâs joining you-
âThatâs great!â I laughed before I attacked him into another hug. I was fine with it. Christian worked so hard to the point he even packed a suitcase in the middle of the night, so being grateful was the least I could do.
âWhat is this, from enemies to best friends?â Luna wiggled her eyebrows, referring to Isobel. I was just about to deny her words, but before I could, the girls had shifted their attention onto Carmen, who had walked down the stairs with Siena in her arms.
âHi, guys!â Carmen greeted them. The girls rushed over to Siena, who seemed to stare at them full of curiosity. âCarmen, did you know about this?â I asked my sister. âOf course,â Carmen nodded.
âSheâs so big. She looks like you, Serenalâ Olivia pouted at Siena.
âCan I hold her?â
Carmen looked at me, and so did everyone else, while I got confused for a second before it finally kicked in. I was Sienaâs mom. âYes, sure-you can hold her.â
Olivia grabbed Siena from Carmenâs hands, and it wasnât long before Siena giggled in her face. âDid you guys see that?â Olivia asked, surprised. âSheâs laughing at me!â
It was the same thing everyone used to say, but it wasnât because of them. Siena was a happy baby who loved attention. âDonât feel special. She laughs with everyone.â
âOh, wellâ Olivia giggled, embarrassed. Faith and Luna joined the others to play with Siena while Christian wrapped his arm around my waist. âSo how did I do? Are you happy?â He asked with a satisfied smirk on his face.
âIâm speechless!â
âGoodâ Christian smiled. âThatâs what I was going for He probably expected me to get angry, but I was done arguing. We were both the issue in our relationship, so I had decided to put in a bit more effort and would try to be less negative.
âWhere are your suitcases?â I asked the girls. Luna was the only one who heard me and turned around to look at me. âI canât believe Iâm about to say this out loud, but your driver already brought it to the jet.â
âJet?â I questioned. I did not like the sound of that. What jet?
âYes, private jet,â Luna spoke as if she couldnât believe it herself. I looked at Christian with big eyes, but he shrugged his shoulders. He knew I was not too fond of that kind of stuff, but it was who he was, and I had to accept it.
âSometimes, I wish you were a bit more basic,â I nagged Christian rolled his eyes and gave me an annoyed. look. âYou seemed like the person to miss your flight. Iâm just playing it safe.â
âThereâs no need for him to be basic.â Luna smiled at Christian. âHe makes the perfect brother-in-
law!â
I laughed at how she praised Christian and wondered if he had told them about all the shit we had been through. If Luna even knew, she wouldâve still gone on the trip, but not after giving him the beating he deserved.
âWhatâs funny?â Luna asked while I shrugged her off and connected Christianâs hand with mine.
âYou guys can go ahead and play with Siena. I need to have a talk with Christian.â
âA talk?â Luna grinned. âHow about we talk? When is baby two coming?â
âCome on,â
âWellâ 1 sighed. âYou looked up all kinds of cute questions about babies, and to be honest, it even made my heart melt.â
Christian pulled away to look at my face. âAh, youâre allowed to see that.â He spoke, relieved. âNo.
problem.â
âWhat do you mean by that?â I asked, confused.
âIs there something else Iâm not allowed to see!*
Christian let out an awkward laugh and wrapped his arm around my shoulder. âOf course not, letâs go.â
âWhat was in your search history?â I asked him while he pulled me along. âHow to get rid of my fiancee?
Porn!â
âThatâs really none of your businessâ Christian chuckled before he covered my mouth with his hand.
âThere you guys are!â Isobel spoke as we walked into the living room. I was so busy with Christian, that I hadnât even heard them. My eyes moved to Dario, who held Siena while the girls were glued to him.
I totally agreed with them. I wouldâve probably done the same if I was single. âIt looks like Dario and Siena are getting along well.â Beau smiled.
âItâs because there are women around. I canât believe weâre looking at the same guy who said he didnât want to have any children.â Christian spoke.
It was probably for attention because that was how Dario worked-but it didnât change anything. It still looked adorable, and he would probably make a good daddy.
I shrugged off my thoughts and almost got chills by that statement. How could I even think about something like that? I was losing it.
It was hard to ignore the smirk on Isobelâs face, and I knew she was onto me, just like the last time.
If she could see it, it meant Christian could also see it, which was another reason for me to stop doing that.
Dario was his cousin.
I gulped as Dario, and the girls made their way over to us and instantly reached out for Christianâs hand. âI see youâ¦were enjoying yourself.â Christian greeted him while Dario let out a laugh.
âYes, Siena is so cute-I just love babiesâ He spoke while Christian and Beau let out a laugh. âIsnât he perfect?â Faith gushed while Luna and Olivia agreed with her statement.
They werenât wrong.
He was handsome, charming, funnyâ¦.
âAre you wearing that on the plane?â Dario made eye contact with me. I was close to freaking out and was lost for words, but Christian pulled me in closer and pressed a kiss on my temple.
âYes, because I donât want her to freeze to death.â
girls and secretly agreed with Dario. It was not as if we were going to the North Pole.
âAt least she wonât freeze to death!â Christian smiled as he pressed another kiss on my cheek. I stared right into Darioâs eyes and noticed how his expression had changed. Was it just my imagination, or did I see a slight hint of jealousy?
No, of course not. Christian was his cousin, and he made it very clear that he didnât want to be on his bad side, not anymore.
âItâs just crazy to me how the two of you are perfect for each other.â Luna sighed. That couldâve been here with Johnny or even my brother, but she decided to run away instead.
âYes, the two of you are.â Isobel agreed while Beau rolled his eyes as he prepared himself for her rant. â1 canât count on Beau for anything. Heâs even too lazy to grab me a glass of water-but if Christian or Serena would ask him for a glass of water, heâd-*
I closed off the sound of Isobelâs endless complaints about my brother and squeezed Christianâs hand. What was the point of freedom if Isobel would probably complain about my twin for the following two days?
My eyes moved to Dario, who seemed terrified by Isobelâs presence, but so was everyone else. He caught me staring and smirked at me while I froze up and didnât know what to do. I didnât even do anything, but I felt unfaithful as if I was not supposed to smile at him.
I relaxed my face and covered up my insecurities by showing Dario a smile in return. His smile grew even. brighter as he grabbed Sienaâs hand and made her wave at me.
I let out a giggle, which had seemed to grab Christianâs attention. He pulled me in closer and looked at me with curious eyes, but I knew he wasnât stupid, and I knew he was aware of who I was laughing with.
He looked at Dario before he moved his gaze to me and cupped my chin.
âI love you,â He suddenly spoke while he stared into my eyes and waited for an answer in return, but I already knew what I was about to say. I felt the same way, and nothing could ever change that.
âI love you too.â
