Chapter 315
His Promise: The Mafia’s Babies
Marvin It took us a lot of kicking and yelling to get there, but I had finally managed to drag the girl to the office of the clubhouse.
âP-please donât kill me. I-I promise you t-t-this is my first time!â She begged for her life, with tears streaming down her face. For a second, I began feeling sorry for her but got back to my senses as I thought about the family business.
I was a Castillo.
I was a Castillo.
I was a Castillo.
âGet on your knees, get on your knees!â I forced her to the floor. This wasnât right. I wasnât this kind of person. Had it been a male, I wouldâve blown his head off without a single hesitation, but Iâd always had a soft spot for women. Maybe it was because of my mom, or perhaps it was because of my sister.
âWhatâs your name?â
A-Amelia!â The girl trembled.
âHow old are you?â
âT-t-twenty.â
Twenty? What the hell was she even doing here in the first place?
âFucks sake,â I muttered under my breath as I realized I had to get rid of a twenty-year-old. One of the biggest cons of this business had to be the expectations. How could they expect me to kill a young woman?
âDo you have any family?â
âP-please, not my family!â Amelia shook her head.
âI asked you a question.â
âM-my mom, m-my little brotherâ¦â
It had only worsened the situation. She had a family who was probably waiting for her return.
âWhy do you have to be so fucking stupid?â I yelled out, kicking over a can. âCanât you think?â
Why did she have to put me into this position? I was trying to be good.
âI-Iâm s-s-sorry, s-sir!â
I lowered my gun and took a deep breath. âSo what am I going to do with you? Because I was trying to become a better person, but youâre making it very difficult for me.â
1 frowned as stutters left Ameliaâs mouth. She was unable to answer.
âHow about you decide what Iâm going to do with you?â I came up with the perfect idea. Maybe if she told me to kill her, I wouldnât feel guilty. That was it.
âGive me a second chance,â Amelia whispered. âPlease give me a second chance?â
âGive you a second chance?â I laughed out loud.
âAnd what do you think will happen if I give you a second chance?â
âOthers will try doing the same, thinking youâll show them mercy.â
At least I didnât have to explain that to her. I was all about showing mercy and wouldnât want to hurt anyone unless necessary.
âI was just trying to take care of my family.â Amelia clarified. âPlease donât kill meâ¦please.â
She was just trying to take care of her family, and so was 1. She was not that different from me, so why did I have the right to kill her?
âGet up.â I managed to get out. My dad had not sent all these men to keep an eye on me, so he could watch me fail-but I couldnât do this anymore. I was capable of a lot, but this was not it.
Amelia got up from the floor while I took my suit jacket and wrapped it around her cold shoulders.
âCome on, sit down.â I led her to a chair at the table.
It wasnât my intention to take care of her, but I couldnât help myself and handed her a glass of water.
I saved a life today, and if Elena knew-she would be proud of me.
âSo what, they donât check ages around here?â I started a conversation.
âN-no, they do.â
âWho hired you?â
âVictor?â Amelia went into deep thoughts. I didnât even know why I asked because it was obvious. I would never hire someone that young to work at a drug lab, knowing one mistake could ruin their lives, but Victor was a demon. The devilâs offspring, if I had to be more specific. Had I not known any better, I wouldâve thought he was Mario Castilloâs real son.
The important thing was that I was back and that stuff like this would not happen anymore. At least not in the future.
âWhat are you going to do to me?â Amelia wondered.
If only I could give her an answer.
âDonât worry, if I really wanted you dead-youâd be dead,â I told her. âYou couldâve faced anyone else, but youâve faced me-and today is my lucky day. So consider yourself lucky.â
The person who had truly saved her life was Elena. The thought of Elena kept me calm and was enough for me to reconsider my decision. I wanted her to be proud of me, and I did not want to ruin our date.
How could I be honest with Elena and tell her I killed a twenty-year-old just the day before? That was not going to work.
What would that even be like? Donât worry, Elena, Iâm a cold-blooded killer, and I killed some girl just yesterday, but I promise I wonât kill you!
of monster I am.â
âI donât think youâre a monsterâ¦.you saved my life.â Amelia smiled. I didnât know whether she was being sincere or not, but me holding a gun to her head was a good enough reason to call me a monster.
âIâm not a saint either.â
âDo you love her?â Amelia asked.
âYes,â I answered. I did not have to think about it twice. I was in deep denial for some time, but I did love her.
âDoes she love you?â
âI think so, yes?â I spoke, unsure. She didnât make me breakfast in a house full of maids because she did not love me. I wanted to believe that our feelings were mutual.
âThen youâve got nothing to worry about.â Amelia shrugged, making me laugh. If only things were that easy.
A better question would be, would she still love me after I told her the truth?
âYouâre not that good at giving advice, but thatâs okay. I smiled at Amelia. âThatâs not what youâre here for.â
âRight, Iâm sorry.â
âItâs okay.â I shrugged her off. Despite me trying to kill her just minutes ago, she was still able to hold a conversation. She seemed like a friendly and energetic person.
âAre you the youngest here?â
âYesâ¦.Iâm the youngest. The one after me is twenty-six!â
âHow are they treating you?â
Ameliaâs lips trembled. Sometimes words werenât necessary.
âLike shit?â I concluded.
âYesâ¦.thatâs right.â
If someone could shoot me every time, I felt the need to jump in to save others, I wouldâve been dead by now. Saving others was not my job, but how could I let her get back to the lab?
What if my dad or Victor would send someone to finish off the job which I couldnât?
God forgive me for this stupid idea in my head.
I looked at Amelia. âI would like to offer you a job as myâ¦maid-but youâve got sticky fingers.â
Mario Castillo had me work my fingers to the bone, and I didnât want Elena to get lonely. At the same time, I didnât want anyone in this hellhole to lay a finger on Amelia.
âMy fingers are not sticky. Theyâre spotless!â Amelia claimed. âGive me a chance, please!â
As expected, also she did not want to work here. She was probably in desperate need of some money and did not have that much choice. Same with the other girls, âIâm well educated. Iâm capable of doing anything, nice, politeâ¦Iâm a good person!â
my âGood, youâre hired.â I stopped Amelia from doing too much. She jumped up to hug me, but I stuck out hands before she could touch me. Unless it was Elena, there was no need for this random half-
naked woman to hug me.
âThank you!â
âYes, no problem.â I beckoned her to take a seat. Mario would not be happy with this, but it would be something he had to live with. Just how I had to live with the fact that he cheated on my mom.
âFrom now on, Iâm calling you my big brother!â
âI donât-
âThank you, big brother!â Amelia smiled brightly.
I nodded. âMaybe you should address me like your big brother. I donât want Elena to misunderstand.â
I did not want Elena to get the wrong idea because I decided to protect another female. I only had eyes for Elena and for no one else.
âSo thatâs her nameâ¦Elena.â
âYes,â I spoke. âAnd I need you to pick out something for her to wear to our date. Iâm not good at that kind of stuff.â
âSure, what does she looks good in?â
âShe looks good in anything,â I spoke proudly. âShe does not like dresses, and I donât want her to feel uncomfortable-so no dresses.â
âDo you have a picture?â
âA picture?â
I grabbed my phone and showed Amelia my lock screen. It was a picture of us at the park in Amsterdam. At first, I felt uncomfortable after she had forced her phone to my face, but she was happy, and that was all I cared about-so I just went along with it.
âWow, she is beautiful!â Amelia gasped.
âIâm glad your eyes are still working.â I agreed. âSheâs the prettiest person Iâve ever laid my eyes on.â
âSheâs gorgeous, but what are we going to do about you?â Amelia spoke with an innocent look on her face.
âExcuse me?â
Completely unaware of her rude comment, Amelia slammed her hand in front of her mouth.
âI-Iâ¦I d-didnâtâ¦please donât kill me!â
âKill you?â I chuckled. We were long past that point.
âD-donât worry!â Amelia recovered herself. âIâll make you look so handsome that she just canât say no to you.â
