His Promise: The Mafia’s Babies
âSerena, there you are!â Francesca waited for me at the bottom of the stairs while I walked down and trieâBecomes an Alfonzo, thinks she can let me waitâdo you see that Emmanuella?â She asked Emmanuellapitiful smile. After telling Emmanuella the truth, wellâshe actually heard it because Christian and I were eshe finally realized why I asked her about the Alfonzoâs.
âIâm sorry!â I apologized and pulled the end of my dress. âWhat were you doing?â Stella asked me.
AppaMia tagged along which was understandable, considering they organized the entire thing.
âWhere is my brother, what were you guys doing?â Mia asked and looked around while Francesca shrugglooks a hot messâitâs not that hard to guess, come on Serena we have a lot to discuss.â
Stella and Mia giggled while I walked after Francesca with my head lowered. This mustâve been why Chrilaughing, perhaps it wouldâve been a smart idea to take a look in the mirror before I came down.
We sat in the living room and I watched as the three pulled out full maps with their ideas for the gender this thing a little bit too seriously while I told them to keep it small.
âIs this okay withâ¦you know?â I questioned as the three gave me a confused look. I did not know how toFabio situation and did not want to say anything I shouldnât.
âIt is, donât worry. No one is going to do anything stupid right now.â Francesca reassured me with a smilbefore she went back to showing me pictures.
It was surprising to me how easily she shrugged it off, but just like everyone had told me she had also saI did not have to worry for now. Over the past weeks, I had learned that staying out of Christianâs businesomething which he truly appreciatedâbut considering the circumstances, it became a lot more difficultâSo what color are you guys going to wear?â I asked them as I scrolled through their to-do list. âWeâre pare wearing a neutral color not to spoil anything,â Stella told me.
âSerena, a quick question because Iâm really curious!â Mia grew an excited smile on her face. âWhat do yor a girl?â
âHey!â Francesca yelled at her. âDonât ask her that, if she reads the expression on your face then the whoruined.â
âShe can just tell me, I took acting lessons last monthâno big deal, Serena tell me!â She put her hands opushed me to talk.
âStop scaring her.â I heard Christian say as he placed his hands on my shoulder. He kissed me on the cheway over to his mom before he joined her on the sofa. Francesca touched his hand and gave him a grateprobably because he was finally ready to let the past be the past.
âChrissie, do you want a son or a daughter?â Mia asked Christian this time. He went into deep thoughts amy eyes with a warm smile on his face. âI want a daughter.â
My eyes immediately observed the twins to see if they would crack, but they didnât. Even though I came idea, all I wanted was to find out what I was having and get it over with.
âA daughter?â Stella spoke in surprise, while the other two also looked at him in shock. He had already sbefore, and he still had the same opinion. âYes, a daughter.
âAnd if you do get a daughter, youâll allow her to date in the future?â She snickered. Christian shrugged âYeah, why not.â
âSerena, donât listen to a word he saysâhe had once threatened to kill my prom date!â Mia jumped in. Ssomething Christian would do.
âOut of love, it worked because you came back in one piece.â He did an attempt to defend his actions. âYtore me apart,â Mia smirked while Christian scrunched up his nose.
âStella, I really donât have to know all of that.â Francesca sighed and pushed another map into her handsâI have to make a few more phone calls so I will leave you guys to it.â Christian got up from the couch aghimself. I bet the only reason why he came down here was to make sure Francesca was not giving me a hwas understandable after what happened with Enzo.
âDonât overwork yourself, Chrissie!â Stella pouted, while I giggled at the familiar nickname. Chrissie.
âI feel like I have to say that to you.â He told his sister before he left the living room.
The three had already decided on a date and made a guest list while all I had to do was just sit back and thing I appreciated the most was that they didnât attack me with questions about the Alfonzoâs but instenothing happened as all of it still felt very new to me, but even then Stella had no problem letting her opâThat brat is just sixteen, three years younger than me but her mouth is so bigâit just makes me want tohappy youâre my twin, Mia.â She spoke referring to Carmen while she wrote down her name. âHey, itâs hewhispered, but all I could do was shrug my shoulders.
âDonât worry about it, I actually think I agree.â I sighed, thinking about the treatment she gave me.
The three stayed for a while longer, and when they had left it was already past midnight. To be honest, I hthe time to pass and all I could think of was finding my way to Christian so he could finish what we had sall of this, I was just too tired.
Somehow I had managed to make my way up and noticed Christian was still in his office. I finally took a scleaned myself, which was well needed.
After I had changed I walked over to his office again but noticed that the lights were off so turned to his Just as I was about to knock he had also opened the door, making me bump into him.
âYou need to stop doing that.â He sighed with a smile on his face. Even I could not count how many timealready happened before. âIâm sorry.â
âItâs okay, I was just on my way to see you.â He wrapped his hands around my waist, while I looked downface. âSee me?â I asked.
âYes, stay with me tonightâcome on.â He pulled me into his room and locked the door. âYou look tired, for today.â He chuckled and dragged me to his bed.
âYou know, I feel like Iâm talking way too much and all you do is listen. Talk to me.â Christian pulled me bme to lay down. I instantly grew a smile on my face and caressed his cheek, thinking about how he becamone. âItâs nothing, Iâm just extremely tired.â I yawned and rested my head against his chest.
âWhat did you think about your family?â He asked me as I yawned once again. âNice people, except for mâThatâs good.â
âWhat are your plans for tomorrow?â I asked him and tried my hardest to stay awake. ââ¦I have some thinwonât be home tomorrow.â
âOh, thatâs so sad.â I raised my head to look at his face before I snuggled against his neck. âIt is.â
Christiaback.
âIâll let someone move your stuff to this room tomorrow.â He suddenly spoke. âT-to your room?â
âOur room.â He corrected me. âAfter the baby is born I want you to stay here, you me and the baby.â
Christian lowered his hand to my baby bump and rubbed circles over it. âAre you sure?â I wondered.
I knone who wanted all of this, but him being nice would probably be a temporarily thing and it would only time before we would argue again.
Keeping promises wasnât exactly his thing.
âIs this not what you wanted?â He asked and I immediately shook my head. He was right. This is what I wquestioning it would be a stupid thing. Instead I should just go with the flow. âNo, noâthis is exactly whâYour head is so heavy, I donât understand how itâs possible for a human head to be this heavy.â Christiato offend me. It was not possible for him to remain nice for longâbut I was already used to it. âHey!â
âWhat?â He chuckled. âItâs true though, youâre head is so heavy and itâs not like there are any brains insiâow!â He yelped out in pain when I smacked his chest. âI-Iâm sorry!â I apologized and looked at the engon my finger. Not the smartest idea to hit him with that.
âWhat about the ring?â I asked him and stared at the huge diamond around my finger. âWhat about it?â
âWell, itâs an engagement ring soâ¦â I carefully tried to bring up the situation. âWait, do you really want toChristian laughed in surprise, but I was being serious. âI meanâ¦why not? Weâve already skipped a few steguess.â
âAre you so sure of yourself that all of this will work out?â I heard a hint of worry in his voice. Was he thethat all of this was going to work out?
âNo, waitâI didnât meant it like that. Donât get me wrong, I want all of this to work out but we have to sstopped talking mid-sentence.
âI shouldnât be pushing you like this and Iâm fine with the way things are.â I tried to calm down the situawas expecting too much for now, he didnât even tell me he loved me back.
âAnd one day, when you feel like itâyou can go on one knee and ask me to marry you.â
âOne knee!?â Christian spoke in surprise and gave me a startled look as I laughed at him. âYes, one kneeâproposal.â
âHmm, weâll see.â
âYouâre tired, letâs have a good conversation tomorrowâjust you and I.â He slowly cut of the conversatiothe marriage talk went a little too fast. âWhat? I donât understand.â
He sighed and rested his hand in my hair as I felt my eyes close. âAfter I get back, let me take you on a ddate.â
âF-first date?â I asked to check if I had heard the right words. âYes, letâs do one step at a time since weâveseveral.â
