His Promise: The Mafia’s Babies
We were two weeks further and tomorrow I would finally have my baby shower. Francesca and the twins house and were staying over to decorate everythingâwhile I went out to secretly visit Beau.
I felt bad about lying to Christian, but I had been hiding this secret for so long that I was too afraid for hiwould find out.
âBeau!â I greeted him and ran in his arms to give him a tight hug. We spoke almost every day either ovethrough text and had become a whole lot closer.
âSerena, itâs good to see you.â Beau pulled away and held my shoulders, so he could take a good look atyou, you got so big.â He spoke in surprise.
âYeah, it looks like it.â I pulled him back into another hug. âAfter you disappear on me I wonât get to hugme hold you for a while longer,â I told him.
âCan you leave the house this easy?â Beau had pulled away again and gave me a worried look. âNo âususurprisingly enough Christian just told me to go.â I shrugged my shoulders. As the four months, Beau hawere slowly nearing Christian had been even more overprotective, till the point where he wouldnât even door anymore, so he mustâve been in a good mood to let me out for the day.
âDid you tell him you came to see me?â Beau wondered as I shook my head. I still hadnât told either onenot informed Christian about Beau, while he did not inform me about the meeting.
âI donât think he would mind anywayâthe last time I spoke with him, he seemed to be okay with all of thwhile a thousandth different thoughts went through my head.
âT-the last time you spoke to him?â I stammered. âYes.â Beau nodded his head. âAt the meeting, two weeDid he know?
âR-right,â I said and sat down on the bench. If he knew, then why didnât he tell me?
It suddenly got very obvious to me that this is what he meant whenever he asked me if I had anything toyou excited about tomorrow?â Beau asked and held his hand against my belly.
âYes, I really wish you could be there.â
All I wanted was for him to meet the Alfonzoâs who had been nothing but nice to me and truly showed ttheir decision.
âI knowâ¦â Beau gave me a look of sympathy and brushed my hair to the side. âI just want to stay at Fabioafter the baby is bornâI wonât leave there until youâre safe.â He explained to me once again.
âI know and Iâm grateful.â I nodded my head. Learning about Beauâs childhood and how difficult it had bmade me feel like a bad person for complaining about my own lifeâwhile if I had to be honest, despite home to home was not half as bad as his.
Fabio had mistreated him, ordered him around like a dogâlike an actual servant, and it was all because oWe spoke for a while longer until it was time for me to go. âI donât want to let go of you,â I told him andeven tighter than before. Letting go of Beau felt like letting go of a part of me. âIâll give you a message ifsomething new.â He told me before taking his exit.
Christian knew,
That was the only thing going through my head as I walked back to the house. Of course, he knew, and treason why he even let me leave the house in the first placeâhe most likely had people watching me. I lme, trying to find anyone, but couldnât.
When I entered the house it was full of blue and pink decorations and random people following Francesctwinsâ instructions. âHah, right on timeâwhat do you think?â Francesca walked towards me.
âI like it, canât wait.â I tried to sound excited, but my mind was still with Christian. I had to talk to him as sâWhere are you going?â Francesca yelled while I ran up the stairs. âIâll be back later!â I called out and maChristianâs office. In the past, I used to knock, but nowadays we were at a point where I didnât.
âLately youâve been working from home a lot.â I walked behind the desk to give him a back-hug and restbetween the crook of his neck. âItâs so I can keep an eye on you.â Christian pulled me away so he could gchair. What he did not know was that I knew he was being serious.
âWhy didnât you tell me?â I decided to immediately jump into it. âAre we still going on about that I love chuckled, but I shook my head. âThen what did I do?â
âAbout Beau, why didnât you tell me that you knew the truth about Beau.â I sighed and saw how the expface had changed. âSo you found out?â
âWell yeah, you knew I was going to see him and thatâs why you allowed me to leave without any securitconfronted him. âI didnât tell you because I wanted to hear from your mouth.â He spoke back.
âI want yome.â
Not before you trust me first.
âIâm sorry.â I immediately apologized. The last thing I wanted to do was to argue before the gender revesay anything because I trust you, I trust you to make the right decisions.â He leaned in to kiss me on my mightâve done a background check.â He confessed, making me laugh. âDoes anyone else knows about tâNo, I was so nice to keep it to myselfâand I trust Beau, so Iâm not getting into your personal business. brother.â He reassured me. âAnd besides that, it could be really helpful to have someone else on the othe
It could indeed.
âItâs weird, you being nice.â I rested my hand on his cheek and looked him in the eyes to see if I could finbehind it. âWasnât I nice to you these past weeks?â He teased me while I looked down blushing.
âDo I need to remind you how nice I am?â He asked and lowered his hand to squeeze my butt.
âMaybe yleaned in to kiss him on his lips.
âDo you really think itâs safe to invite Olivia?â I double-checked once again. Inviting someone who workeclose with Vincenzo made me worried and for Beau, it was definitely another case.
âYes, you shouldnât abandon your friend because of small things like these. Olivia is your friend and sheâHe reminded me. He had a point, she had been calling and texting me non stop to ask whether she had wrongâand was surprised when I had sent her an invitation. âAnd Enzo? Did you invite him?â
With the familyâs approval, Enzo was sent away to a mental health facility and received all the help he neon his two feet. He had returned this week and Gio and Christian were still put on protecting him as theydad that he felt pressured because of work.
The last thing I had expected was to receive a handwritten apology from Enzo, and while I had no probleâjust mentioning his name could already get Christian worked up so I watched my words around him. Ereach out to him or apologized.
âI did, but I think my brother made it clear how he feels about meâand I feel the same way.â He tried todidnât care, but I knew better.
âIâm so excited for tomorrow, I feel like we can really start decorating the baby room and buy nice thingsonce we know what weâre having,â I spoke with a big smile on my face, trying to change the subject.
âArenât you?â I asked and observed the worried look on Christianâs face. âYes I am, so what are you wearpink?â He shrugged it off.
âPink, of course, I keep dreaming about a girl.â He stood by his final decision, but I felt the same. It had tâIt would be nice to give the family a first grandson, but weâre having a girl.â He spoke determinedly. âTea girl then I will let you pick out the nameâand if itâs a boy, I will pick out the name.â
âW-wait, really? You trust me with that?â Christian asked in disbelief. âOf course I do.â I nodded my headokay with me calling the baby, Christina or Christa or Krystal?â
I laughed at the serious look on his face and nodded my head. As expected his ego was so big, he was gown name one way or another. âTotally fine, I promise.â
âThen it really has to be a girl now.â He sighed. âI guess so.â I agreed.
âI have to go again, your mom needs me.â I excused myself, but he grabbed my wristâforcing me to stagiggled and tried to release myself from his grip while he wrapped his arms around me.
âWhat if I need you? Whoâs more important, me or my momâyou choose.â He whispered in my ear andagainst me.
âYou win.â I laughed as he picked me up and sat me down on his desk. âI always win.â He traveled kissesâWhatever.â I breathed and tangled my fingers through his hair.
The last few weeks life had been so perfect that I could not imagine how anyone could ruin it.
