âThatâs a strong and healthy Lamberti,â Ramiro spoke and handed me the sonogram. âYes, she has a habme.â I looked down at the picture with a smile on my face.
âDo you think she looks like me?â I asked excitedly and turned around the picture. âHmm, it seems moreme.â He spoke while I frowned.
âWell, at least he knows heâs the father.â I giggled and observed the picture one more time. âIs there a wthis to him? I was going to take a picture, but I feel like that is meaningless.â
âYes, Iâll get it to him as soon as possible.â He reassured me. At first, the idea of a family doctor taking casounded strange to my ears, but after Christian had leftâRamiro had been nothing but nice to me, but tthing that had been bothering me.
If he was the family doctor, shouldnât he be with Lucio?
âIs there something on your mind, beautiful?â He gave me a questioning look, but I forced a smile on mymy head. âNo, I was just thinking about Christian as a baby and as a person.â
âChristian?â Ramiro sighed out laughing. âChristian started walking at eight months and said his first womonthsâthroughout his childhood he had not changed, and he still hasnât. Always pushing himself to bspoke with a proud smile on his face. âThatâs the kind of person he is.â
âThatâs right.â I agreed with him. âI donât want to be rude, but how do you know the family?â
âI used to go to university with Christianâs grandfatherâhe paid for my education and without him, I wodoctor.â Ramiro smiled. âAfter finishing school I worked at many hospitalsâbut it didnât work out.
Francohospital at the time, and asked me for a favor.â
âSo you have known them for a very long time, that must be nice.â I smiled, thinking about how many clLambertiâs hadâand almost every single one was willing to help me, despite not knowing anything abouâMy wife who I met in school has delivered Lucio and all of his children, and all of his grandchildrenâoualong very well.â He explained further.
âThen you guys must be very old!â I blurted out and covered my mouth, making him laugh. âThatâs alrigyour mind.â
âChristian never told me about a family doctor.â I doubted myself. It seemed to be some kind of family traccording to him I could not be part of because I wasnât exactly family.
âDonât take it personally, I asked him but he told me he did not want to pressure youâbut now that the are differentâ¦â
He did not want to pressure meâ¦
Hearing different stories about what Christian had been doing since the moment I had walked in, while adoing was doubt him, made me feel guilty. âThe woman who came here last night, is that your wife? Becextremely young, like a teen almost.â I commented, but the smile on Ramiroâs face had disappeared as hhead. âMy wife passed away a year ago, the one who will be assisting me is my granddaughter, Amanda.I felt bad and didnât know what to say if I had only kept my big mouth shut. âSo both of you are droppinprotect me?â
âYes, the three of usâmy other daughter will also be here tomorrow.â
âOkay, cozy. It feels more like a vacation than a safe house.â I laughed to myself. I had expected it to be whad expected to feel alone as I always hadâbut it was the complete opposite.
My thoughts got interrupted by the sound of the doorbell and I almost jumped up. Thatâs right, I wasnâtvacationâI was here because my lifeâs in danger. âThatâs for you.â
âFor me?â I wondered, but it wasnât long after until I heard a few familiar voices call out my name. I gaspRamiro in shock as he nodded his head in response. âFaith!â I yelled out and almost ran out of the room downstairs.
âGuys?â I yelled again and tried my hardest to follow to voices until I stood face to face with Faith, Luna, all yelled and jumped up and down in a group hug. âWhat are you guys doing here? And why do you hawondered as I stared down at their luggage.
âSurprise, weâre your new housemates.â Faith giggled. âM-my what?â I stuttered. If this was my surprise,a kid in a candy store. âH-how?â
I had purposely not told them about anything, because I definitely learned from my mistakes with Vinceâbringing them here by himself couldnât have been any better.
âYour sugar daddy asked us to be here, he explained everything to us and we didnât hesitateâso here wopened her arms.
âYeah, some scary life you liveâbut we want to keep you company.â Olivia eyed Faith and Luna who werChristian offered us a lot of money.â She further explained, rolling her eyes.
âDonât get me wrong, if money was not involvedâI still wouldâve been theââ Olivia ranted, but I pulledhug. âI donât care, Iâm just happy all of you are here!â
âNow give us a tour of this shoebox.â Luna walked around as we all followed her. Just as asked, I gave thetour, showed them the rooms, and introduced them to everyone.
âSo what have you guys been up to?â I asked the girls as Faith and Olivia started to rant about their liveshow she had left the club and went back to school, while Olivia explained she was very busy with job hun âHow about you, Luna?â I tried to involve her in to the conversation, but she shrugged her shoulders witcheeks. âAh you knowâ¦the usualâ¦justââ
âScrewing your cousin in law and your best friendâs brother.â Faith finished her sentence, causing all of uloud. âIs it Emilio?â I asked, not even being a bit surprised. The look he had given her, and Johnny had giday I met my family, was almost embarrassing to watch.
Luna shrugged her shoulders and looked down. âJohnny and your brother have both been blowing up mdonât know how to reject either one of them!â She buried her head in my shoulder as I gave her an awkwâJust tell them youâre not interested.â Olivia shrugged as if it was nothing. âThatâs not that easy, little girlâWhy are they giving you attention anyway. What have you done?â Faith wondered, as did I. If only thingeasy with Christian.
âThese type of men are not interested in us, they see me as an easy target because Iâm a stripper.â
She robefore she gave me a pitiful look. âNo offense, of course.â
âNone was taken.â I chuckled. They did see us as an easy target, and that was the reason why I ended upfirst place.
âBut I thought you went to Johnnyâs house a few times,â I recalled. Luna sighed and leaned her head agashoulder. âI did, for funâI had no idea he wanted a real relationship.â
âAnd my brother?â I continued asking. âI only went on one date with him, at the end of the evening he ghandshake.â
We all looked at each other before we burst out laughing. âA handshake?â Olivia cracked, staring at the elook on her face.
âWait, I have to take this.â I recovered myself when I saw Christianâs name appear on my phone, and quicof the room to accept the call.
âChris!â I spoke excitement, but all I got in return was silence.
âShit my bad, I didnât mean to call you.â He spoke. âWait, so you called me on accident?â
âUhhâ¦yes, Iâll call you later!â He tried to end the conversation as soon as he started it, but the only thingthe background were female voices. âChristian, what are you doing?â I asked, but before I could get an adifferent voice.
âSerena, donât worry Iâll take care of him!â Marc told me, but I was not convinced. âW-why am I hearing the background? Where are you guys?â
âI took him to a club, so he can relax for onceâwe used to do this all the time, but heâs so boring now!âdrunk spoke, while I heard Christian struggling to get his phone back.
âSerena, thatâs not true! He forced me to be here anââ
âOkay.â I laughed and slowly heard the music on the background fade away. âOkay?â Christian repeated.
âYou should go and have fun, talk to whoever you wantâI donât care,â I told him. âYou donât?â He askedsounded extremely irritated which was a mystery to me.
âYeah, go and have fun for once!â I encouraged him. The last thing I wanted was to be a gatekeeper andbaby I would probably do the same.
âSo what youâre saying is that you donât mind sharing meâjust how I shared you with Vincenzo?â
Christchecked while I was still trying to figure out why he sounded so irritated.
âHmm, not the same case because we werenât togetherâbut, no.â I gave it a second thought. âIf the roleI wouldâve done the same.â
âOh, really?â He spoke sarcastically, confusing me even more. âYesâ¦did I say something wrong?â
âNo, not at all.â He said.
âIn that case, Iâll follow your instructions and put myself up for advertisement, since you wouldâve done tIt took me a while but I finally got it, he misunderstood my words.
âChrisââ I called out to him, but he had already hung up the phone. Why was he irritated by the idea of jealous?
âDrama queen,â I muttered under my breath.
