Chapter 22
Marry My Ex’s Uncle After Rebirth
Chapter 22
Stephanie scrambled up. âSorry about that. You okay?â she asked Vincent.
Vincent was still trying to wrap his head around what just happened, but he pushed those thoughts aside, reassured the group, âItâs all good.â
Stephanie took a breath of relief, glad her secret was safe for now. She gave Douglas a sharp look. âSeriously? Watch it next time!â Douglas gestured to his throat, silently pleading for her to let him talk.
She hoped he remained mute for the rest of his life so his words would stop disgusting her.
She took out more needles and stabbed him a few times. âDone. You can talk now,â she stated.
Douglas croaked and finally got out a question, âWhy did you use that many needles just to fix my voice?â
Stephanie chuckled inwardly. Thatâs because you annoy mel
âItâs complicated, acupoints and all that. Trust me, you wouldnât get it even if I told you,â she said, then eyed him a bit closer, âYou donât look good, though. I bet you have some problems.â
âDr. Summer, can you make a pulse diagnosis for Douglas?â asked Lorelai, panicking.
Stephanie rubbed her fingers together, showing it was gonna cost.
Lorelalâs not happy about it but grinds out, â2 million dollars.â
âFine, for Vincentâs sake, Iâll do it,â
Stephanie caved. When Douglas held out his arm, she took a handkerchief from her bag and laid it down first.
âWhy the handkerchief now? You didnât use one with Uncle Vincent or Grandina. What gives? You think Iâm dirty or something?â Douglas was ticked off.
Stephanie sighed. âI use it for guys who canât keep their pants on.â
Douglas lost it and snapped back, âCut the c a p!â
She pulled her hand back and shot him a look. âYou know if Iâm lying.â After being reborn, Stephanie investigated Douglas and knew his dirty secrets. Douglas was a player and had his fun left and right.
âIâm sorry, Dr. Summer. Please, just check him,â Lorelai pleaded.
âGuess I have no choice,â she sighed. With her fingertips resting on his wrist, she scoffed, âYou need to chill with the party lifestyle. Youâre burning out, and youâre already halfway down the drain.â
âThen what should we do?â asked Lorelai fearfully.
âDonât worry. Iâve got just the thing.â Stephanie chimed in. She whipped out a small red bottle. âHere are some vitality pills-pricey stuff, though. Each is 100 grand, and you need all 40. Thatâs 4 mil, plus the 2 for the check-up, so 6 million total.â
Douglas frowned and protested, âI feel like you are swindling me.â
âFine. Iâm not selling it,â Stephanie threw in his face. âBut hey, if you come crawling back, itâs 20 million next time.â
Before Lorelai could say anything more, Douglas, stopped her and said, âMom, Iâm very healthy. Donât listen to her nonsense.â
âRemember, if you come begging, it will be 20 million dollars.â Stephanie couldnât help but laugh.

Douglas snorted. âYou are a quack!â
Vincentâs expression darkened as he threatened, âDouglas, do you want to be punished according to the family rules?â
Douglas shut his mouth.
Vincent looked at Stephanie and said, âIâll walk you out.â
âOkay.â She nodded.
Walking out of the Fletcher residence, Vincent whispered his thanks.
âNo sweat,â Stephanie quipped back. âI mean, they say dead men tell no tales, but letâs hope Mr. Fletcher isnât getting any ideas.â
Vincent chuckled, âI trust you.â
When Stephanie was about to enter the car, Frederick and Edith ran toward her.
âCan I help you with something?â asked Stephanie.
âMy daughter has been in a coma since she fell down the stairs three ye
years ago.
o. Can you examine her? Name your price,â said Frederick.
She glanced at Vincent and thought, This petty guy doesnât seem to want to talk to me today. I might as well take a look since I have nothing else on.
âLead the way. I will follow in my car,â agreed Stephanie.
Frederick nodded repeatedly. âOkay.â
When she got into the car, Giovanni asked, âBoss, youâre good at making money. I can hear the sound of money rolling in from afar.
Glancing at him, Stephanie urged, âWhat are you waiting for? Letâs go!â
Vincent watched the cars leave through the fancy gates and then turned away, lost in thought. Was that Stephanie I felt when she landed on me just now? Nah, thatâs crazy.â He dismissed the thought right away.
Zane asked, âAre we sticking around?â
Vincent nodded and said, âIâll go back to the company after Mom wakes up!â
Zane raised an eyebrow, thinking, âVincent barely slept a wink on that trip just to see his wife sooner. Why did he drag me back right after dropping him off last night? Whyâs he working instead of hanging with his wife now?â
Vincent looked sideways at Zane and asked, âWhatâs on your mind?â
âN-Nothing,â stammered Zane.
you
âThen why are you still standing here? Enjoying the scenery?â scoffed Vincent.
Zane just thought, âDudeâs definitely craving something!â
Stephanie walked into Frederick and Edithâs huge house and found Christina Fletcher, their daughter, out cold. The girl looked super pale, like a strong breeze could knock her over.

Edith sobbed. âChristle has been in a coma since she fell down the stairs three years ago. The experts who examined her couldnât tell us whatâs wrong.â
Stephanie sat, put her fingertips on Christinaâs pulse, and frowned. âSorry, I got nothing.â Stephanie admitted.
Edith wiped her tears, despairing. âEven Dr. Summerâs stumped. Christie might never wake up.â
Frederick was also disappointed as he said, âThank you, Dr. Summer, How much for the treatment?â
âJust walk me to my car,â replied Stephanie smilingly.
They were stunned, realizing Stephanie was implying something.
Once outside, she whispered, âChristinaâs out because her nervous systemâs shot. I think someoneâs been feeding her downers after she hurt her head.â
Frederick frowned and responded, âThatâs impossible! The test results didnât show anythingâ
âTest results can be falsified. Your house has been installed with surveillance cameras, including Christinaâs bedroom, Who did you offend?â asked Stephanie.
The news made Frederick and Edithâs skin crawl. They had no idea they were being watched.
âLook, Iâll send some meds through Mr. Vincent Fletcher, Get âem from him. Keep this quiet. And move Christina out of here as fast as you can,â Stephanie advised.
Hope sparked in Edith. âDr. Summer, whatâs the bill for your help and the meds? Weâll payâ
Stephanie waved it off. âNo charge, thanks to Mr. Vincent Fletcher. Iâll see you around,â she said, leaving
As the car left the mansion, Giovanni teased, âYouâre a real sweetheart, Ms. Hayes!â
âThe Fletcher family matter is complicated. Itâs good if I can help Vincent get an ally,â explained Stephanie.
Giovanniâs mouth twitched as he asked, âAre you paving a path for him?â
âOf course.â Stephanie snorted. âA single guy like you wouldnât get it.â
Giovanni was speechless.
Frederick and Edith were torn, worried about a rat in their house.
âWhere should we take Christie?â Edith asked.
After thinking briefly, Frederick said, âSend her to Tranquil Garden. Itâs the safest place.â
e are on Vincentâs side?â
Edith frowned and questioned, âDoesnât that mean we are declaring to everyone that we
âLook, itâs Vincent or Raphael And Vincentâs the boss right now. Plus, without him, we wouldnât have Dr. Summer, and Christie would be gone,â Frederick reminded her.
Edith agreed. âOkay. Weâll chat with Oli when sheâs back tomorrow.â
Frederick declared, âNo need for discussion. Iâll inform Vincent and send Christie over.â
Vincent happily agreed after receiving the call. Ellen was up and back to herself, so Vincent directed, âHead back to Tranquil Garden.â

Zane smiled and said, âYou must miss Mrs. Fletcher.â
Vincent quickly said, âChristieâs moving in. Iâm visiting her, not Stephanie,â
Zane thought, âMan, youâre just looking for an excuse to rush home to your lady!â
