Chapter 47
Marry My Ex’s Uncle After Rebirth
Chapter 47
Paul brought the punishment tool in front of everyone.
He took a wooden stick from a rectangular wooden box and stood behind Douglas.
Seeing this, Lorelai immediately blocked Douglasâ back and cried out, âDouglasâ back had just healed. You canât hit him again. There must be something wrong with those photos. Someone framed him. Kevin, please let Douglas have a chance to investigate who was behind this, trying to ruin the Fletcher familyâs reputation.â
Kevin was p**d off this time. âWhether he was framed or not, his behavior has stained the Fletcher familyâs reputation. Looking at all that he has done, I can only say he has brought shame to the family! Hit him! Make it hurt!â he fumed.
Paul hodded. âYes, Mr. Kevin Fletcher!â he said
He raised the stick and hit Douglasâ back ruthlessly.
Douglasâ breathing hitched as he gasped in extreme pain after the first strike landed.
He turned around and glared at Paul, who looked fearless as he continued to hit Douglas.
Lorelai wanted to block it but was afraid the stick would split her flesh open.
She could do nothing but cry pitifully.
Douglas gritted his teeth and looked at Vincent, who raised his eyebrows at him.
Even Stephanie, beside Vincent, had a sneer on her face.
Their expressions aggravated Douglas.
He gritted his teeth and endured 30 strikes.
When Paul finally stopped, Douglas held himself up with both hands on the floor as cold sweat broke out over his pallid face.
He raised his head with difficulty, looked at Kevin, and groaned, âGrandpa, are we done? You are not angry anymore, right?â
Kevinâs heart ached for Douglas. Although he had been dissatisfied with Douglasâ behavior after the engagement party, this was the grandson he had watched growing up, so he let go of his anger after the punishment.
Kevin thought they should move past this as Douglas had old and new injuries now.
Just as Kevin was about to say something, Vincent interjected indifferently, âNow that he has been disciplined for this matter, we need to look at his punishment for another matter.â
Douglas suddenly looked over and had a bad feeling
Kevin frowned and asked, âWhat else is there?â
Vincent dialed a number and ordered, âBring her in.â
Douglas looked toward the door Zane strode in, followed by bodyguards who escorted Lydia in.
Instantly, Douglasâ pupils dilated as he wondered, âDid I get busted? How can this happen?

Lydia knelt opposite Kevin and Ellen, tears streaming down her face, and begged, âMr. Kevin Fletcher and Mrs. Ellen Fletcher, Iâm sorry. I was threatened by someone to put medicine into Vincentâs food. If I didnât follow their orders, they would kill my son. I had no choice!â
Kevin asked in shock, âSince when? What medicine?â
Lydia revealed, âSince four months ago. Please spare me, Mr. Kevin Fletcher, and Mrs. Ellen Fletcher. Iâm an old employee of the Fletcher family, and I didnât want anything bad to happen to Mr. Vincent Fletcher, so I fed the medicine to stray dogs first. I didnât add it until I ensured it wasnât a strong
poison.â
Ellen rotorted furiously, âNonsensel Itâs obvious you were afraid of being implicated if you directly poisoned and killed him. Thatâs why you experimented with the stray dogs. What difficulties would it cause you to harm Vincent? Why didnât you come to us?ââ
Lydia sobbed as she apologized, âIâm sorry. I know what I did was wrongâ¦â
Ellen looked at Vincent worriedly and asked, âWere you harmed by the medicine, Vincent?â
Vincent shook his head and replied, âItâs a cold-natured medicine. Since I take warm-natured traditional medicine every day, the heat and cold would cause discordance, which would lead to physical disorder. It hasnât caused serious harm as Iâm rarely home and havenât consumed it much.â
Ellen felt relieved as she said, âFortunately, you discovered it in time. Otherwise, your internal o**s would have been damaged, and your already injured legsâ¦
She wiped her tears as her heart ached for him. âVincent canât even walk now. What would happen if his health deteriorated, too?â thought Ellen
Kevinâs expression was chilly as he thought about what Vincent had said to him earlier.
He guessed, âSo you have ferreted out the mastermind.â
Vincent nodded and replied, âYes. Someone very close to some of us.â
Everyone looked at Douglas unanimously.
âWhy are you all looking at Douglas? He didnât do it!â shouted Lorelai in panic.
Kevin demanded coldly, âWas it you, Douglas?â
Of course, Douglas would not admit it. He pursed his lips and snorted. âYou are forcibly accusing me of this crime. Uncle Vincent, I realize I have wronged Stephanie, but you canât take revenge on me using this method,â he said.
Vincent narrowed his eyes and mocked coldly, âI suppose you will refuse to admit your mistakes until the end!â Then, Vincent called out, âZanelâ
Zane nodded before placing the laptop on the coffee table and turning it on.
It was a video taken secretly. Lydia was talking to a man wearing a cap, sunglasses, and a mask.
-The man passed a paper bag to Lydia and gave her some instructions before turning around and leaving
The point was not that, but that the man got into a black Bentley, and his profile as he got into the Bentley had been caught on camera. It was Douglas.
Of course, Lorelai also saw this scene. She shook her head and stammered, âItâs impossible! It must be a fake video!â
Zane played another audio, and Douglasâ voice repounded in the hall.
Douglas had not expected that they had audio of his original voice. The voice changer had not distorted it.

âDad! Mom! Do you really think Douglas would do something like this? Someone must want to frame him,â Lorelai said.
âDoes someone want to frame him? Then letâs get an authentication specialist to verify it,â sneered Stephanie.
She looked toward Douglas and asked, âDo you have anything else to say?â
Douglas would be exposed if he tried to justify himself after all the evidence had been presented.

He stopped pretending. He supported himself from the floor with his hand and stood up. With the tip of his tongue against his chin, he smiled sinisterly and said, âI didnât expect you guys to give me a taste of my own medicine! Good game!â
Hearing that, Lorelai immediately realized that the evidence was true.
She grabbed Douglasâ arm to stop him from saying something impulsive. âDouglas, you are just spouting nonsense from anger, right? We canât take the blame for this!â Lorelai said.
Douglas shook off her hand and shouted, âShut up!â
He snorted and said, âYou guys set me up last night, right? You guys are not so upright yourselves! You only presented the evidence after watching my punishment! You played well!â
Stephanie smiled, âWe arenât aware of last nightâs incident. What if it was your fiancée? After all, you went to the r e â li g h t district, and your fiancée might be infected with AIDS. Do you think she would be willing to see you live happily and healthily while her mind and body suffered?â
te that. He glanced at everyone coldly and said, âSince the evidence is conclusive, send me to prison then!â
Douglas could not refute
He was sure that Kevin and Ellen would choose to forgive him to avoid a family scandal.
When a dash of c**s flashed through Douglasâ eyes, Stephanie interjected, âShouldnât you be punished for such treacherous behavior?â
