Chapter 52
Marry My Ex’s Uncle After Rebirth
Chapter 52
Stephanie highly doubted the housekeeperâs words. âDid you see who picked Grandpa up?â she asked.
The housekeeper replied, âNo. Mr. Hayes said you came to pick him up, so he directly carried his suitcase and got into the car.â
âWhat about the license plate number?â Stephanie asked.
The housekeeper shook her head and said, âI wasnât paying attention.â
Stephanie narrowed her eyes and took a step forward. Meanwhile, the housekeeper took a step back.
Stephanie sneered, âWhat are you afraid of?â
The housekeeper lowered her head and said, âNo, I-I just donât like to be too close to others.â
Stephanie shook her phone and said, âIâve recorded everything you said. If you lie, Iâll sue you immediately.â
The housekeeper frowned and said in a panic, âMs. Hayes, if thereâs nothing else, Iâll go back first.â
âSure!â Stephanie said. The smile on Stephanieâs face disappeared as soon as the housekeeper shut the door.
Stephanie had severed ties with the Hayes family. They would sue her for t r e s p a s s i g if she broke in and searched the house, for they were now worried they couldnât get leverage over her.
When Vincent saw Stephanie return to the car without accomplishing anything, he asked gloomily, âHowâs it going?â
After hearing her repeat what the housekeeper had told her, Vincent pursed his lips.
He got his laptop and put it on his lap, then typed on the keyboard quickly. Soon, he hacked into the mansion areaâs surveillance cameras.
He opened all the surveillance footage around the Hayes manor. Six footages were displayed on the screen, and the time was rewound to an hour ago.
Upon fast-forwarding the footage, they noticed that what the housekeeper said about Austin being picked up half an hour ago was not true.
Vincent rewound the footageâs time to 7 a.m. Ever since Austin left at 8 a.m. and returned at 10 a.m., he never left again. Thus, the housekeeper was lying.
Stephanie knew this must be Horace and Matildaâs order. Stephanié thought, âThey want to control me by controlling grandpa.
Stephanie took out her phone and reported to the police that Austin had been kidnapped.
The police immediately rushed to the Hayes manor to understand the situation.
Stephanie played the recording of the housekeeperâs words to the police, which led the police to question the housekeeper again while retrieving the surveillance footage around the house.
Seeing this, the other housekeepers immediately called Horace.
Meanwhile, Horace and Matilda had just settled Florence down.
Horace said confidently, âFlore, donât worry. Stephanie will drop the lawsuit and let you out in less than two days.â
Matilda whispered, âWeâve kept your grandpa hidden. Sheâll never find him.â

Florence frowned and said, âThen youâd better go find her and ask her to drop the lawsuit. I canât stay in this d m n e d place anymore!â

Matilda clicked her tongue. She said, âSurely, we must let her be anxious for two days. And when we find her, we need to check if sheâs carrying any recording devices. Sheâs just too cu

Horace nodded and said, âYes. Flore, bear with it for a while. Weâll take you away from here as soon as possible. As long as you keep silent and look. depressed, no one will give y

Looking at the woman tied up on the other bed, Florence couldnât help but feel disgusted. âThen hurry up!â
Horace and Matilda nodded repeatedly. T
Just then, Horaceâs phone rang. It was the housekeeper. He picked it up and asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
The caller lowered their voice and said, âBad news, Mr. Hayes. Ms. Stephanie Hayes called the police and told them Mr. Austin Hayes was kidnapped. Now the police are searching at home!â
âWhat?â Horace exclaimed. He was so angry that his chest ached. âThis b a s t a r d! Iâm going back now!â he said.
Looking at his angry face, Matilda knew something had happened. âWhat exactly is going on?â she asked.
Horace gritted his teeth fiercely and said, âStephanie reported to the police that Dad was kidnapped. Theyâre searching for him at home now.â
Florence, who had been lying on the hospital bed, jumped up. âWhat do we do? What if they found him?â she asked.
Horace rubbed his temple. He replied, âHeâs well hidden. They might not find him. Letâs not panic. We canât lose our composure.â
He then looked at Florence and said, âDonât worry. Weâll pick you up early,â Then he left with Matilda.
Florence was trembling with anger and shouted hysterically.
The nurse saw this scene. She went to the doctor and said the new patient had a relapse.
The doctor immediately ran into the ward with four
nurses.
Seeing this, Florence shouted, âWhat are you doing here? Get out! I donât want to see you! Iâm not sick. Get out!â
She disregarded all of Horaceâs instructions to remain silent and calm.
The doctor adjusted his glasses, waved his hand to the nurses, and said, âRestrain her. Weâll give her a sedative.â
Florence shook her head and complained, âIâm not sick. I donât want an injection. Stay away from me!â
The four nurses did not listen to her. They quickly restrained her on the bed and tied her up with a special strap.
The doctor gave her a sedative then said, âAll psychiatric patients say that.â
Florence kept shaking her head while saying, âIâm not sick, Iâm really notâ¦â
Soon, she felt drowsy as the medicine took effect.
The doctor looked at the woman on the other bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. He asked, âJodie, are you sick?â
Jodie West turned her head and chuckled. She said, âIâm not! You are!â

The doctor shrugged and said, âSee? Psychiatric patients always say theyâre not sick.â With that, he left the ward with the nurses.

When Horace and Matilda returned home, a police car stopped in front of the door. Police got out of the car with two police dogs.
Matildaâs heart s i e d a beat. She grabbed Horaceâs arm subconsciously and asked, âWhat should we do?â
âCalm down,â Horace replied: He shook his head before stepping forward. He asked the police, âWhat are you doing?â
The police looked at Horace suspiciously and inquired, âAre you the head of the household?â
âYes,â Horace replied. âHow could you casually enter my house?â he asked.
âSomeone called the police, and what the housekeeper said doesnât match the surveillance footage. We have a reason to suspect something bad might have happened to the missing elderly,â the police answered.
âDo you have a search warrant?â asked Horace,
The police glanced at him and said, âOf course.â
Seeing the police walk past them into the mansion with two police dogs, Matilda was anxious. She said, âHorace, we wonât be able to explain ourselves if they find Austin.â
Horace was also very nervous now, but he was still holding on to hope. âThe basement is well hidden. Theyâll never notice it.â
âNever notice what?â asked Stephanie.
Stephanieâs voice made Horace and Matilda freeze. They turned around and found Stephanie standing behind them.
Matilda widened her eyes. âW-Why are you here?â she asked.
Stephanie raised her brows. âOf course, I want to see for myself how both of you get ridiculed. Where did you hide Grandpa? If you tell me, Iâll drop the case. Otherwise, Iâll sue you for false impriso
