Chapter 83
Marry My Ex’s Uncle After Rebirth
Chapter 83
The door to the ward opened, and Willow brought in a frail weman, âMr. Fletcher, Joseph,â Willow greeted.
With teary eyes, Nancy pursed her lips. âVincent. Joseph,â she uttered.
Joseph nodded slightly. âYou guys talk. Iâm going to get some food with Willow,â he said.
Nancy nodded and said, âOkayâ
After the door was closed, she walked to the bed.
She clenched her fists at her sides as she said in a trembling voice, âVincentâ¦
Attempting to conceal his inner turmoil, Vincent suggested faintly. Tâll give you money to leave the baseâ
Tears streamed down Nancyâs face. âVincent, donât you trust me anymore? After I was captured during the mission, I faced extensive torture, but I never betrayed the base or you. I still have traces of poison in my body. I can survive because they recognize my talent for intelligence development. However, I did not sell out the core data of the base,â she said.
After a brief silence, Vincent stated, âIâm sorry. You canât stay at the base.â
Through tearful eyes. Nancy said, âVincent, is it just because Iâve worked for Skull Corps for a year? is it just because I didnât end my life by taking poison
like others? Since you donât trust me, Iâd rather die!â
Then she ran to the window and was about to leap from the fourth floor.
Vincent removed the needle from his hand, then he got out of bed and grabbed Nancyâs arm as she jumped down.
His wound was pressing against the windowsill, causing him intense pain. Despite his outward composure, beads of sweat were forming on his forehead
and nose.
He held Nancy tightly and lifted her.
When Nancy was about to hug him, Vincent held her shoulder. He said, âDonât do anything silly. I didnât distrust you, but itâs simply not suitable for you to remain at the base anymore. I promised Mr. Freeman to take good care of you. Iâm sorry that I failed, Joseph and I have been looking for you for a long time, but we havenât heard from you. We thought you had alreadyâ¦
He looked at Nancy and continued, âNow that youâre back safe and sound, go live a normal life.â
Nancy replied, âI feel disconnected from society. Where can I go? Can I stay with you?â
After pondering, Vincent suggested, âYou can go to Jacaster with me. Iâll arrange a position for you in the Fletcher Group as the technical director of the research department.â
Nancy eventually smiled and said, âThank you, Vincent.â
Vincent nodded.
Concerned by his pale complexion, Nancy asked, âAre you okay?â
Lowering her head, she noticed a dark stain on his deep blue pajamas. It seemed the wound had reopened. âYour woundâ¦â she uttered.
âHmm, Close the window. Donât do anything s t u p i d again,â Vincent remarked.
âOkay,â agreed Nancy as she closed the window. Then she turned around to help Vincent, who was walking to the bed.
Vincent pulled out his arm, âI can do it myself,â he said.

Nancy was stunned. âAre you still doubting me?â she asked.
âNo, Iâm married. I have to keep a distance from other women consciously,â replied Vincent.
Nancy was shocked, her lips pursed,
She forced a smile and asked, âWhen did it happen?â
Lying on the bed, Vincent answered, it happened more than two months ago
He rang the bedside bell to call the medical stall,
âIâm sorry, Vincent,â Nancy apologized anxiously.
âItâs fine. I hope you wonât hurt yourself again,â said Vincent.
Nancy nodded obediently and replied, âOkayâ
The medical team quickly went into the ward to check on Vincent
The doctor said, âBoss, your wound has reopened and requires re-stitching.â
Vincent nodded as he responded, âOkay, letâs stitch it here.â
The doctor nodded and asked the nurse to bring in anesthesia and medical tools for stitching-
The wound was treated in under 15 minutes.
After the medical staff left, Nancy apologized to Vincent for being impulsive.
Vincent waved. âItâs fine,â he said.
Nancy sat down next to the bed and said, âI havenât congratulated you on your marriage. She must be pretty and gentle.â
Vincentâs eyes softened when he thought about Stephanie. âSheâs beautiful but not really gentle. Sheâs the kind of girl whoâs lively and cheerful,â said
Vincent.
Vincentâs eyes lit up when he mentioned Stephanie, sparking jealousy in Nancy.
Hiding the jealousy
alousy and hatred in her ey
reyes, she nodded and said, âThe woman you like must be amazing.â
âI donât just like her. I love her,â Vincent whispered.
Nancy was surprised and hurt when she learned that Vincent had gotten married while she was away for a year.
Nancy thought, âWhy didnât I return sooner? if I had come back three months earlier, I could have prevented their marriage. It doesnât matter. They can still get divorced despite getting married!â
Just then, the phone on the table chimed with the incoming video call.
With a smile, Vincent answered the phone. âStephie,â he uttered.
Upon learning from Joseph that Vincent was drunk and likely to be awakened soon, Stephanie promptly initiated a video call
Noticing Vincentâs extremely pale face, she could not help but frown. âAre you feeling unwell?â she asked.
Vincent smiled and said, âDonât worry, I drank too much and had a stomachache.â
Stephanie was displeased. She questioned, âWhat kind of significant project is causing you to drink like this? In that case, we might as well give up this

project.â
30 May
âItâs settled. Donât worry. Iâll go back to accompany you after I deal with some follow-up matters. Will that be okay?â Vincent said.
âAlright. I can see that youâre feeling quite unwell, so Iâll refrain from saying anything else. Have a good rest, okay?â stated Stephanie.
âGot it,â replied Vincent
âI hang up now. Go and rest more,â Stephanie advised.
Nay, agreed Vincent.
Vincentâs gaze remained glued to the phone screen even after the video call had ended.
He missed Stephanie and wanted to talk to her more, but he was afraid she would find out the truth.
Nancy despised Stephanie intensely as she observed the affectionate expression on Vincentâs face.
After returning to Jacaster, she must figure out a way to separate the two!
Joseph and Willow entered the ward, carrying lunch boxes.
Noticing Vincentâs visibly paler complexion, Joseph asked, âAre you okay? You donât look well
âThis is nothingâ replied Vincent.
Nancy told the truth because she knew she could not hide it.
Joseph cast a cold glance at her. âYou were aware of his injury, yet you still did it anyway. Did you not consider the consequences?â he questioned.
Nancy looked down and apologized, âIâm sorry.â
Realizing Nancy was on the verge of tears, Willow tugged at Josephâs sleeve. âThatâs enough. Nancy just came back. Itâs understandable for her to be emotional Stop talking about it,â said Willow
Joseph saw the chowder brought for Vincent and realized Vincent could not have it. He said resentfully. âIâll go find a doctor to give you some fluids.â
He turned to look at Nancy and said, âHe needs more rest. You and Willow can go first. Iâll stay and take care of him.â
Nancy pursed her lips. âCan I stay here?â she asked.
Joseph replied, âVincent is married. It would be inappropriate for you to stay here with him.â
Nancy was unhappy, but could not express it.
She smiled and said, âOkay, Iâll leave with Willow.â
After they left, Joseph searched for a doctor to provide Vincent with fluids.
Alter the nurse gave Vincent a drip, Joseph started eating from the lunch box.
While eating, he said, âYou were right not to keep fancy at the base. As soon as she arrived, many people came to me to oppose her staying.â
Vincent agreed, âIâll bring her back to Jacaster to join the research department of Fletcher Group as the technical director.â
Joseph was stunned. He asked, âAre you taking her back?â
