Chapter 1077
My Substitute CEO Bride
Chapter 1077
There was no doubt Hera already knew Boris had been bribed.
However, instead of calling the police, she had decided to merely
dismiss him from the company. This would help Boris retain some
semblance of honor even till the very end.
She was repaying a grudge with a favor!
After that, Boris told them everything about why he had accepted the
bribe.
His wife had been diagnosed with a terminal illness.
The medical expenses plunged his family, which had just recovered from the previous plight, into financial troubles once again.
The president of Deco Electronics chose that very moment to
approach him.
She promised to pay for all the treatment his wife received at the hospital on one condition.
When Boris heard that he needed to install hidden cameras and bug in Heraâs office, he refused to do so without hesitating.
However, he underwent a dilemma after returning to his wifeâs ward and seeing how she was in so much pain that all she wanted to do
was die.
Baroque had helped him greatly. If it had not been for them, he would have lost his daughter six years ago
However, he and his wife had spent over half their lives together. He
could not stand the thought that she might not be able to watch their daughter get married and settle down.
After going through several days in a haze, he eventually lost control
of himself.
Ten days ago, he contacted Xena and received the bugs and hidden cameras. He told one of his most trusted men to plant them in Heraâs
office.
When Boris finished speaking, he slapped himself across the face
numerous times. âIâm sorry, Ms. Hera. Iâm so sorry. Itâs all my fault. I
_donât deserve to be alive!â
He had spent the past ten days on tenterhooks, struggling to fall
asleep every night. Days felt like years to him.
The look on Heraâs face turned slightly less hostile.
Melody was worried Hera might go easy on him and hurriedly spoke
up, âDonât doubt your employee, and never hire someone you donât
trust. Thereâs no in-between for betrayal. It either never happens or
never stops.
âBaroque is no longer the small company from back then. You shoul replace whoever shows the need to be replaced!â
Hera pursed her lips.
If Boris had betrayed her just for the money, she would have fired him without a second thought.
However, because he had done it for his gravely ill wifeâ¦
Melody could tell that Hera was going to go easy on Boris, and she shook her head ruefully as she said, âYou should do as you deem fit.
All Iâll do is provide you with reminders and suggestions!â
Hera grinned at Melody. âThank you, Melody!â
Melody had been doing this for much longer than Hera had.
Everything Melody told her was no doubt for her own good.
If Hera did not listen to her advice, she would be letting Melody down.
Melody was only saying that because she was spoiling her.
Borisâ familyâs financial situation had only just improved slightly, and
his wife was terminally ill.
Given his age, it would be difficult for him to find another job.
Hera did not want to be the one who destroyed his family. She turned to Boris and said, âYou should get to your feet, Mr. Griffin. Iâve decided to give you a second chance!â
Borisâ heart skipped a beat, and fresh tears brimmed in his eyes as he
said, âMs. Hera⦠Youâ¦â
Hera hurriedly waved her hands. âYou should return to work. Iâll have someone from the Finance Department transfer the money needed for your wifeâs treatment this evening!â
Boris trembled as he bit down on his lip and bowed deeply at Hera.
Where else would he find a president as kind as she was?
Despite the fact he had betrayed her, she still allowed him to keep his
job and was even paying for his wifeâs treatment.
He promised himself that he would spend the rest of his life being a loyal employee of Baroque.
After Boris left, Melody sat back down and said, âBeing kind is a good thing, but you might end up getting pushed off the cliff if youâre too
kind for your own good!â
Hera linked her arm with Melodyâs and said cutely, âItâs alright, Melody. Iâm not an idiot. I know what Iâm doing. This is a way of
getting people over to your side as well, isnât it?â
