Chapter 2358
My Substitute CEO Bride
Astin looked at the captain with a mixture of surprise and curiosity.
"Assist you?" Astin asked back, a bit puzzled. He was just an ordinary person caught up in this incident. Why would they want him to help?
"I'll agree for now, but you need to tell me why. Your team must have more experienced people than me, so why do you want me to assist?"
The captain asked, "You're the son of Astorus Cole, aren't you?"
"You know my father?" Astin's surprise was evident, but he quickly overcame it. He scrutinized the man and suddenly straightened himself, eyes wide as he realized. âSo, it's you. No wonder you looked familiar."
The captain nodded and said, "Yes, I'm the one who put your father away. You can call me Jules."
Astin slumped in his chair, his gaze leaving Jules Fern.
"Do you hate me?" Jules asked.
Astin shook his head. "Rather than hate, I'd say I'm somewhat grateful. I never believed my father was innocent. No matter how grand his excuses were, misdeeds are misdeeds. He shouldn't be forgiven just because his intentions were good. So, I don't hate you."
Jules looked relieved and nodded in appreciation. "In that case, are you willing to help us?"
Astin mulled over the offer.
"You probably need someone who can see those threads, right? I can help with that, but I have a condition."
"What is it?" Jules asked.
"Once this case is over, I'd like to meet him. My mother has never told me anything about him, and I haven't seen him for years. With your position, you should be able to find out where he is now."
Jules nodded. "I can certainly look into it, though I can't guarantee success. Your father has been under strict surveillance for a long time."
Astin waved his hand dismissively. "I understand. I just need you to give it a try. I have another request regarding this case-something you can surely accommodate."
...
"Is that all the information, Ms. Danse?" Warick asked while taking notes.
The hotel manager, Fleur Danse, nodded. "Yes, I didn't see any suspicious individuals. I was in the lobby all night since I was on the night shift."
Astin said, "Let me confirm this again. So, the deceased, Winsten Kohl, was your colleague. You didn't see him enter or leave the hotel, correct?"
Fleur nodded. "Yes, that's right."
Astin then looked toward the counter where Charlotte was checking the surveillance footage and asked, "How's it going?"
Charlotte shook her head. "The surveillance system hasn't been tampered with. Nothing's been deleted."
"I see. Well, I understand. Jules, could you come over here for a moment?"
Jules closed his notebook and walked over. "What's up?"
Astin thought for a moment and then said, "You should interview the hotel's guests again later. Don't mention anything related to the case. Do you understand?"
Jules nodded. "Got it."
Astin then exited the hotel. It was cloudy that day, so he felt fine.
Earlier, in the interrogation room, Jules had a puzzled look on his face as he pointed at Warick and asked, "Become your assistant?"
Astin nodded and continued, "Not just him but also the one who came in with me earlier, Charlotte. I need both of them to work with me. It's not a difficult request, yes?"
