Chapter 2384
My Substitute CEO Bride
A flash of golden light appeared, and suddenly, Astin was back in everyone's view.
Before Charlotte could react, Astin was the first to greet everyone.
Charlotte could not believe her eyes. The smile, the voice-it was Astin, without a doubt. How did this happen?
Dusky remained silent as Astin walked over to his side. "Thank you, Dusky."
Dusky smiled faintly. "Don't have too much fun."
With that, Dusky left.
The emperor had distributed the divine talismans to three individuals, who collectively searched for candidates for godhood in the mortal realm. However, after becoming a god, their management was not directly handled by the emperor himself.
The emperor acted more as a witness. Those chosen by the talisman would temporarily follow the commands of the three mortal seekers. Essentially, whoever gave the talisman had temporary authority over the new god until the awakening process was complete.
Gods were not allowed to enter the mortal realm at will, at least under normal circumstances.
For Dusky, however, he often allowed his gods a bit more freedom as long as they did not overstep boundaries. Astin was no exception, and the same applied to Smiley.
Of course, Astin's role remained that of a god. If called upon by the higher powers, he and others like him would need to respond promptly to the summons from the god realm.
However, with a day in heaven equating to a year on earth, they should still have plenty of time left.
After Dusky left, the group began to converse among themselves.
...
The next day brought a rare spell of good weather, and for the first time, Astin could fully enjoy the warmth of the sun.
He lay in bed as sunlight poured through the window, bathing his face in a comforting glow.
"Astin," a gentle voice called out to him.
Astin slowly opened his eyes. Charlotte was there, gazing at him tenderly.
He gave her the first kiss of the morning, and after getting ready, they both got up.
Today was the day to say goodbye to old friends. Astin and Charlotte also planned to set off on their journey once more.
They met at a restaurant, where Astin and Charlotte sat down, holding hands.
Gradually, the others arrived. This included the three hunters-Zenon, Immanuel, and Rueâas well as Clayton, Chuck, Warick, and Jules. Everyone gathered around a large table, chatting enthusiastically.
"So, you're leaving too?" Astin asked Zenon and the others beside him.
Zenon nodded. "There won't be any more demons from now on, so our organization is disbanding. I'm planning to go back and see my home."
Astin was genuinely happy for him. "That's great! Zenon, maybe we'll meet again someday!"
Zenon said, "We will. Someday in the future, we might cross paths again. I'm not sure how much I'll remember by then, but I think I'll miss this unforgettable meal."
"Haha, good one!"
Zenon's humor had everyone laughing.
Astin then turned to the other two. "Immanuel, what about you?"
Immanuel thought for a moment. "I'll probably stay here and work as a bartender or something."
Rue shared her own plans. "I'm planning to become a rapper. The organization's already helping me with getting an album out!"
"Didn't know you had that talent!" Zenon remarked.
"Hmph, of course," Rue said proudly, raising her head. "I became a hunter just because my parents were hunters. I've been wanting to quit for a while now, so this is a big relief
"I've already started writing lyrics. I'm going to rap about my brief time as a hunter, and I'm sure it'll be a hit!"
"Haha, that's awesome," everyone said, offering words of encouragement and admiration.
Warick watched the energetic group before him, feeling a wave of emotion in his heart.
