Chapter 2426
My Substitute CEO Bride
Thresmund stormed into Maxim's office.
"Dad! What's going on here?!"
Maxim glanced at Thresmund. "What are you talking about?"
"Why? Why is the Mother of Immortals inside that girl?"
"I don't understand what you're saying. I have no idea why Blaque's there."
Thresmund shouted, "Dad! Why won't you say anything? What's going on?
Whether it's the Myriad Immortals Gathering or your dealings with Mr. Howl, how many more secrets are you hiding?"
Maxim did not answer his question.
"Thresmund, leave."
"Dad!"
"When it's all over, you'll understand."
"When it's all over? When? Why? Why can't you just tell me now?"
"It's for your own good."
"For my own good? I'm not a child anymore, Dad! Why won't you ever discuss anything with me?!"
Just then, Maxim's secretary entered the room.
"Sorry to interrupt, sir, but Nash is here."
Maxim nodded. "Show him in."
He then turned back to Thresmund.
"Thresmund, just remember, everything I do is absolutely right. You don't need to question it or even think about it. No matter what, I'll never betray you."
"Betray? What are you talking about?"
"That's enough. I have guests to attend to. Please leave."
"But..." Thresmund clearly did not intend to leave, but the next moment, a scarlet force pulled him out of the room.
The door opened with a creak, and Nash and Clint walked in.
Nash greeted Maxim first, "Hello, or should I say, it's finally good to meet you, Maxim."
Back at the Myriad Immortals Gathering, the day's matches had concluded. Next up was the more dangerous one-on-one battles. Anox, Kalo, Chevy, and Teresa arrived at the restaurant.
"By the way, Chevy, you surrendered way too quickly," Kalo remarked.
Chevy was sipping on his soda as he adjusted his glasses. "That was a calculated decision. Compared to a meaningless fight, it's quicker to just surrender. The outcome would've been the same anyway."
"Haha, alright. I'll take your word for it."
"Why do you sound so doubtful, Kalo?" Chevy said seriously. "I really didn't see any point in fighting Enid. There was no way to win anyway. By the way, where's Thresmund?"
Anox responded, "I messaged him earlier, but he hasn't replied yet. It's understandable. With the Mother of Immortals, Blaque, returning to the world, it's a big deal for the entire organization and the region. Thresmund is probably swamped with work."
"Then, can I have his portion?" Kalo asked mischievously.
Anox pushed him away. "Kalo, you've already eaten enough today. If you keep overeating, you'll gain weight."
"What? No way! Just this once, please let me have it."
Watching the two brothers, Chevy felt a mix of emotions. He recalled his earlier conversation with Anox.
"Who will take that first step? And when that happens, what will both of you feel?"
Anox turned his head and saw that the red light had about 20 seconds left. After hesitating for a few seconds, Anox said, "Nothing will happen. When Kalo confesses, I... I'll wish them well."
The green light came on, but it could not hide the redness in Anox's eyes. Chevy stood up and patted Anox on the shoulder.
At that moment, Kalo shouted, "Hey, Anox, Chevy! Hurry up and get over here!" "We're coming," Chevy replied.
