Chapter 2433
My Substitute CEO Bride
Nash continued, "We've already figured out the purpose of those two magical arrays... No, actually, it's four magical arrays."
Clearly, Maxim was rattled by this statement. Nevertheless, he only furrowed his brows slightly, trying to maintain his composure.
However, even this subtle reaction did not escape Clint's notice. This was confirmation that they were on the right track.
Maxim, still feigning calm, responded, "What are you talking about? Four magical arrays? I don't understand."
Clint abruptly interjected, "You don't understand? Don't worry, Mr. Young. We're not here to mess up your plans. We just need you to help us with one thing."
"Go on," Maxim agreed decisively.
"No matter what, don't let the winners of the Myriad Immortals Gathering become gods."
Maxim frowned deeply this time without bothering to hide it. Those details were truly unknown to him, and they were irrelevant to his interests.
"Why?"
Clint explained, "From now on, we belong neither to the Eastern gods nor the Western gods. We're here to challenge those arrogant gods. Humanity will prevail in the upcoming war, so we can't keep sending our best people up there. We must stop this competition."
Maxim chuckled.
"I'm an exorcist. Do you really think I'd bow to those damned gods? From the start, I've been planning to challenge that god again whenever I get the chance.
"So, rest assured, we're aligned on this point. I'll never let those talented kids become puppets of the gods."
"That's good to hear." Clint had not expected Maxim to be on their side, but it was a relief. If Maxim supported their stance, they would not need to worry about the magical arrays being linked to the god selection.
With that assurance, they had no reason to stay any longer.
Clint clasped his hands and said, "Thank you for your cooperation. We won't take up any more of your time."
"Wait," Maxim suddenly called out as they turned to leave.
They turned back cautiously.
"Did he change his mind? Is he thinking of killing us to keep his plans secret?"
Maxim looked at Nash and said, "Nash, you stay. I want to talk to you about the Young family."
Nash paused, looking somewhat bewildered. He then agreed, "Oh... alright..." About an hour later, Nash emerged from Maxim's office.
Clint asked in concern, "What happened?"
"O-Oh, it's nothing," Nash stammered.
Clint did not believe him. Nash's expression was odd. While he still appeared calm, there was a slight twitch at the corner of his mouth.
Some secrets could only be discussed among the Young family, which was why Maxim had Clint leave so that he could talk to Nash privately.
Clint knew that pressing further would be impolite, so he dropped the matter, glossing over it with idle chatter.
"The East District of the Northern Territory... What a strange place."
On the third day of the Myriad Immortals Gathering, the competition shifted to one-on-one battles. With fewer participants, the matches moved to a more traditional arena setting.
"Everyone, welcome to the Myriad Immortals Gathering! Our first match is Enid Goode versus Damon Riggin!"
