Chapter 2439
My Substitute CEO Bride
Hundred Horses amplified Teresa's entire sensory and learning abilities by several folds, allowing her to react to unknown attacks based on the enemy's attack
habits.
The reactions were not Teresa's own but rather forced actions made by the Hundred Horses ability, which predicted moves through accumulated battle experience.
Even Teresa had not fully grasped the extent of her defensive maneuver just moments ago.
However, as soon as Hundred Horses was activated, it signaled that Marino's defeat was imminent.
Marino knew all too well that he stood little chance against Teresa's skill, yet he still raised his sword.
"Take this! En garde!" he shouted, activating the Four-Point Sword technique.
As expected, Teresa's body instinctively moved through her experience, guided by the Hundred Horses ability.
Nonetheless, people would learn and adapt. It was rare for someone to make the same mistake twice.
Marino adjusted swiftly as he knew the Four-Point Sword could not protect his chest. He switched to defense the moment Teresa's body moved to counter.
Sure enough, the staves collided with the sword, sending the staves flying once more. It was followed by another strike. Teresa then leaped to a safer distance.
"Heh, you sure can run fast," Marino taunted.
"You're not bad yourself, Marino. You're impressive to be able to adjust so quickly," Teresa acknowledged.
"I'm not just impressive. I've refined the Four-Point Sword technique over the years to completely eliminate its weaknesses," Marino boasted.
"Oh? Then why aren't you using it?" Teresa challenged.
"Because a battle must always be fought with everything you've got!" Marino exclaimed. "Teresa, I haven't seen you respect this fight the way it deserves!"
"What do you mean?"
"Teresa, I can tell you've still got a trump card hidden," Marino remarked. "When you activated Hundred Horses, I saw your hands forming a seal for another ability."
"Sharp as always," Teresa praised. She then asked, "Marino, to you, what does our shared blood feud really mean?"
Marino laughed, dismissing her question. "You're still asking childish questions like that."
Teresa continued, "Your taunts make it clear. You want me to defeat you with everything I've got, which means deep down, you still feel guilty. Otherwise, why expose your weaknesses twice?
"And you could've blocked my first attack, but you let it slip through. I don't need your pity, Marino. I'll prove to my family with my own hands that I can accomplish what they can't."
Marino smiled knowingly. "It seems I've underestimated the Gallaghers, after all..."
"Eight-Sided Sword Array!" Marino suddenly activated a sword array beneath his feet.
Teresa felt a surge of danger.
An array? If she came into contact with that, it was going to be trouble.
Teresa retreated quickly. In that case, she would form her own!
She planted one of her staves into the ground, and a towering wall of true energy rose up before her.
The energy quickly manifested into an array of cavalry, all poised for battle. As soon as Marino's magical array touched the cavalry, the two forces clashed fiercely.
The slashes of the Eight-Sided Sword Array whipped through the cavalry like a violent storm, yet the wall formed by Teresa's horsemen stood firm.
"Interesting. How about this, then?" Marino pulled the magical array closer to himself, abandoning wide-range attacks in favor of intensifying each strike.
By using true energy to strengthen her sword, Marino was increasing the power of each slash. Teresa took note as she prepared herself.
Then, a massive sword that reached to the sky materialized above the battlefield.
