Chapter 2566
My Substitute CEO Bride
"Exactly. So, I'm sorry, Mr. Calcraft, but I really can't help you this time," Philemon said, though his tone lacked any genuine apology.
Nash understood and did not press further. The information he had gathered was enough for now.
"Oh, do let me know the time and location of the auction later, Mr. Troyer."
"Sure. See you at the venue."
With that, Nash hung up the phone. He kept replaying the image of the token in his mind, along with the underlying messages Philemon had hinted at.
"Is this token really that sinister?"
Just then, Nash received a message with the auction details.
Theo, who was nearby, asked, "So, what's the plan, Nash?"
"Isn't it obvious? We're going to the auction," Nash replied and got into the car. "Let's go. We'll head back for now."
"Got it."
As Theo drove, Nash could not shake the uneasy feeling growing in his mind.
The nature of this whole situation was starting to shift. What was really going on here? Ever since he got to the cultural street, something had not felt right, but he could not put a finger on it.
Theo noticed Nash's grim expression and assumed he was worried about the auction. He tried to comfort him, saying, "Nash, you don't need to worry. I've been to this auction once, and honestly, because it's partly for donations, not many people actually attend aside from a few public figures who care a lot about their reputation."
"Not many people attend it? That's exactly what I'm worried about..."
"What do you mean?" Theo was a bit confused, but Nash did not elaborate further and signaled for Theo to focus on driving.
Well, there was no need to think too much. He just needed to get that item. That was all that mattered.
...
Back at the Lewis family's residence, Nash did not bring the matter up to the family. As always, he did not want his loved ones involved in anything related to martial arts or cultivation.
Nash sat on the large couch in the living room and closed his eyes. Suddenly, Hera snuggled up to him. His eyes snapped open, and he appeared startled. He patted his chest to calm himself.
"This is real. It's real."
Hera looked puzzled.
"Honey, what are you talking about?"
Nash composed himself and then turned to smile at her.
"Oh, it's nothing. By the way, where's the baby?"
"The baby is in Mom and Dad's room. You have no idea how much they've been doting on Soren ever since he was born. The two of them are overjoyed. The first thing they do when they come home from the office is rush over to see their grandson."
Hera sighed with a smile. "I haven't seen them this happy in so long. They keep saying that Soren looks just like I did when I was little."
"Really? That's great," Nash said softly, holding Hera's hand.
"Oh, right." Hera suddenly remembered something and pulled out a little pink outfit from the drawer under the side table.
Nash was a bit confused. Why would they dress a boy in such a cute outfit? Hera simply waved her hand.
"Oh no, this isn't for him! I prepared this for Melody's and Sienna's babies."
"Huh?"
"I just have a feeling that they're both going to have little princesses."
Hearing this, Nash felt a bit dazed. He thought of his inner demons and then looked back at Hera.
"Hera, are you... feeling sad?"
