Chapter 2571
My Substitute CEO Bride
It was all thanks to Raylee that things had not escalated further. Afterward, the
security guards removed the unconscious people who had been knocked out from the auction hall.
Once the chaos subsided, Dorothy Duerson said again, "Well then, Mr.
Auctioneer, let's proceed."
The auctioneer picked up the wooden gavel.
"A hundred billion, going once. A hundred billion, going twice. A hundred billion go-"
"I bid 150 billion." Nash stepped forward and made his bid.
Everyone turned to look at Nash, who remained calm and composed. Dorothy glanced at the man in front of her and asked Raylee, "Who is this guy?"
"Nash Calcraft."
"Nash, I see."
Dorothy raised the bid by another 50 billion. Nash continued to outbid her, and the
two went back and forth, each raising the stakes higher.
At this point, Theo grabbed Nash's arm. "Nash, you can't keep bidding!"
Yet Nash, who had his adrenaline pumping, ignored Theo's warning entirely.
"I'll raise it by another ten billion!"
"Very well, Mr. Calcraft has bid 710 billion," announced the auctioneer.
Dorothy immediately followed up by adding another ten billion. Nash, determined to continue, was about to place another bid when suddenly, Theo punched him in the face.
Nash was stunned as he looked at Theo, bewildered.
"W-What's going on?"
"Nash, snap out of it! What's gotten into you?"
"I'm fine... I'm..." Nash trailed off, his voice growing weaker. "What's happening to me?"
At some point, Nash had lost control of himself and started bidding recklessly without reason.
What on earth was going on? He wondered as he looked at himself.
It was his own fault. That poison was just a simple venom. It should not be affecting his mind like this. Was it the work of his inner demons?
Nash recalled the moment when Casimir had helped him face his inner demons.
Right, he had never truly overcome his inner demons on his own. Casimir had guided him through it. He had never fully conquered them... Damn it! He thought he had overcome them!
Nash spiraled into despair within his mind. Casimir had warned him after pulling him out of that darkness. "Master Nash, you gained power through my guidance, but it comes with side effects."
Nash realized now that his emotional outburst was one of those side effects. The more he honed his control over his true energy in his mindscape, the more his emotions became entangled with it.
His true energy, like a newborn, was curious about every aspect of his emotions and psyche. It was behaving almost like other souls were living inside him.
This was not the same as the natural transformation that came with the Profound Oriental Realmâit felt more like these energies had minds of their own.
With a bang, the wooden gavel struck.
Nash snapped back to reality.
"And with that, this treasured All Souls Token goes to the lady here!" announced the auctioneer.
Nash stared at the astronomical figure on the display, momentarily dazed. If Theo had not snapped him out of it earlier, the numbers would have kept climbing.
Grateful, Nash wiped his face and stood up, turning to Theo. "Thanks. Let's get out of here."
"Yeah, let's go," Theo responded.
With that, Nash, Theo, and the rest of their group left the auction hall.
