Chapter 2572
My Substitute CEO Bride
When they stepped outside, Theo could not help but ask, "Are we leaving just like this? Nash?"
"What else can we do?"
"I guess not much..." Theo muttered.
"I know what you're thinking, Theo. By the way, do you know that woman named Dorothy?"
Theo nodded.
"I've heard about her from my family. Both Dorothy and Raylee seem to belong to the same commerce group."
"A commerce group?"
"Yeah, Goldspin Commerce. If I remember correctly, it's the largest commerce group in the Southern Territory, though they don't operate much domestically."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, Dorothy was abroad for a while and only recently returned. Raylee's part of
the same commerce group, but the two don't have much of a personal connection. Their relationship is more competitive than anything else."
"Competitive?"
"Right. Raylee represents the influence of Goldspin Commerce in the West District of the Southern Territory, while Dorothy is aligned with the South District. Even though they're both from the same commerce group, their ties aren't that close."
"I see. So that's why Raylee seemed to dislike Dorothy from the start."
"Exactly. But in the end, they still managed to get that token."
"Good for them," Nash suddenly remarked.
Theo found this odd. "Why, Nash? A moment ago, you were desperate to get that token, and now this?"
"Theo, do you really think Dorothy and her group can actually pay that 700 billion?"
"If they get support from the commerce group, they probably can."
"And do you think after paying and walking out of there, they'll make it safely back to the Southern Territory?"
"What are you suggesting?"
Nash did not answer immediately, but after walking a bit farther, he said again, "Back in the auction hall, we already saw an attempted robbery. If Dorothy tries to leave with that token, do you really think no one will make a move?"
At that moment, Theo finally realized the situation. "I get it now."
Nash continued, "You probably didn't notice, Theo, but the entire area around this building is filled with martial artists from different factions. Without some serious power, it'll be tough to get out of here."
He paused before continuing, "Those people, the ones inside the auction hall and even some who didn't bother entering, are just waiting for their moment. As soon as Dorothy or one of her people shows up, they'll make their move. After that, who knows what will happen?"
"Nash, how many people are around us now?"
"Conservatively, I'd say there are no fewer than a thousand!"
"What? That many?"
"Their skill levels vary, but I can definitely sense some formidable experts among them."
"So, should we-"
"No." Nash cut Theo off before he could finish.
"Don't even think about it, Theo. That thing is pure trouble. We should be thankful we didn't get it. I don't know why Dorothy and her group want it, but I do know that object holds immense power. Can they really control it? We'll just have to wait and see."
"So, you mean..."
"We're heading to a rooftop far from here, as far as possible. If things get ugly, who knows how far the chaos will spread? Whether I step in or not is another question, but I want to see who the real winner of this circus will be."
The first people to leave the auction hall were those who had won other items. However, Raylee had not yet come out. The crowd remained silent, patiently waiting.
Then, a group of bodyguards emerged, escorting a veiled figure in a wheelchair. In their hands was a box. It was sealed, but a faint green light was continually glowing from it.
Everyone immediately understood that was the All Souls Token!
In an instant, the martial artists swarmed over. Almost simultaneously, they launched their attacks on the person in the wheelchair.
However, just one second later...
