Chapter 2581

My Substitute CEO Bride

"These things... drained nearly half of our funds?" a fierce-looking man asked.

Alistair was forced to explain, "Please don't be upset. The price we paid is absolutely worth it."

"Worth it? Then tell me your reasoning! Alistair, let me remind you that our commerce group isn't just your Nest Organization's alone, understand?"

"Of course, I understand." Alistair struggled to keep his composure, his face turning red as he gritted his teeth and said, "We haven't fully figured out the potential of this token yet. But if we="

"How much longer? How much longer do we have to wait?"

"Maybe a few months or even a few years."

"And what exactly will this research bring us in the end?"

"Energy!" Alistair declared firmly.

Everyone in the room was stunned by this statement.

The chairman, sitting in the center, adjusted his rotund figure. He opened his eyes

slightly and gave a faint smile as he looked at Alistair. Then, pushing up his

glasses, he asked calmly, "Alistair, go on and explain your point further."

Alistair nodded and continued, "Understood, Mr. Calcraft."

...

Linden, Whistler, and Aurora were all fast asleep, their breathing even and peaceful.

Fogort gazed out the train window at the passing scenery.

It had been years since he had been home, and he never thought he would return

for something like this. He turned a copper coin in his hand, fidgeting absentmindedly.

He wondered how those guys were doing... Could they survive this disaster? Nash had probably arrived by now.

"What about Nash?" a voice echoed in his mind, interrupting his thoughts.

Fogort answered himself, "He'll definitely get involved. That guy's fate... I've seen many strange fates in my life, but when I read Nash's..." He paused, deep in thought. "I couldn't predict a thing."

"Am I not strong enough?"

"No, it's not a matter of strength. You and I are indeed powerful, being prized heirs of Goodspear Mountain's elders. Your strength is undeniable. But Nash... He's impossible to fathom. Why is that?"

"Do you want to try mastering all of my power?" the voice teased.

"Forget it. I'd rather not go mad."

"Even someone like you lacks confidence? The only heir in a hundred years?"

"Titles like that mean nothing. I think the reason I'd go mad is that I've glimpsed Nash's fate. Who is he, really?"

Fogort drifted off to sleep without realizing it. Suddenly, the train's announcement woke him.

"Dear passengers, we have arrived at the final destination. Please gather your belongings and disembark. Welcome to the beautiful land of spring..."

Linden opened his eyes. He nudged the other three, saying, "Wake up, we've arrived."
