Chapter 2588

My Substitute CEO Bride

Disaster Magnet.

This concept first originated from Goodspear Mountain. It was a collective term used for harmful techniques and artifacts.

However, if one traced it further back, this term was originally meant to describe just one particular object-the Chaos Talisman, the very one that Fogort was holding in his hands.

Goodspear Mountain was most famous for their talismans, but relying solely on those was not enough for them to maintain their foothold in the world.

What helped the sect thrive over generations was largely due to their actions. In various records and media, the Path masters of Goodspear Mountain often appeared as brave figures.

Unlike other orthodox sects, Goodspear Mountain was the closest to the mortal realm. Many stories about them circulated in the martial world.

As many of their disciples descended the mountain to interact with the world, the sect was open to new ideas and innovations.

One day, a young disciple brought something back to the sect. It was a black wooden box adorned with beautiful golden edges. Initially, the disciple thought it was just a pretty treasure, a gift from someone he had helped. Thus, he took it back to the mountain.

From that moment on, strange things began happening on Goodspear Mountain.

First, many disciples inexplicably fell from grace. Then, those who came into contact with the box descended into madness.

Even the Heavenly Master of Goodspear Mountain at that time was affected.

Thankfully, Fogort's grandmaster managed to withstand the pressure and took steps to restore the sect. After killing the previous Heavenly Master, he discovered the strange nature of the object inside the wooden box-the Chaos Talisman.

Typically, talismans and spirit symbols were man-made, but this one was formed naturally.

Its nature was closer to that of a demon, yet it retained the properties of a talisman, enhancing other talismans used by its holder. It could also be used on its own, but its use was limited.

Every time it was used, it would drain the user's life force. The talisman had absorbed so much life over the years that controlling it became nearly impossible for anyone.

Fogort's grandmaster, who was now the Heavenly Master of Goodspear Mountain, initially resisted the talisman.

However, after accidentally coming into contact with it, he started to change his views. He spent long hours communicating with the talisman, but unlike others, he was not deceived by it.

Instead, he engaged in deeper discussions about its nature.

Years passed, and eventually, even the Heavenly Master chose to forget about it. The reason was simple-besides the current Heavenly Master, no one else could master it.

Though the Heavenly Master had once hoped to use its power to revive the sect, things did not go as planned. Too many people had been driven mad by the talisman.

Ultimately, the Heavenly Master had no choice but to seal it away, along with those who had lost their sanity. Thus, the Chaos Talisman disappeared from the world.

It was only later that the Heavenly Master learned that this object was one of the ancient treasures. Legend had it that it witnessed the fall of the human empire's rulers and absorbed too much natural energy, transforming into a sentient being. People then started calling it the Disaster Magnet.

...

One not-so-cold autumn day, a young Fogort was lazily resting in a hidden grove. His master eventually found him.

"You little rascal! What are you doing here?!" his master shouted.

Fogort, woken by the noise, grumbled impatiently, "Don't shout. I'm sleeping."

"Oh, you brat! You're really getting too comfortable, huh?" His master swung a punch, finally waking Fogort up.
