Chapter 2590

My Substitute CEO Bride

"Oh? Why do you say that?" Esen asked curiously.

Fogort, still speaking lazily, replied, "Didn't you ask me what I think about this name? Well, all I know is my master's understanding of it."

"Oh?"

"Stop talking nonsense, boy!" Stuart quickly tried to stop him.

However, Esen raised his hand to signal Stuart to be quiet. "Stuart, don't interrupt."

"Yes, Master Aellopus."

Esen turned to Fogort. "So, in your own understanding, what does 'Fogort' mean?"

"My understanding of it? The world doesn't recognize me, and I won't reveal myself. I exist within the fog, carefree and at ease."

Esen could not help but laugh at his response. "I didn't expect such an explanation from you."

"Yeah, that's how I see it."

"Interesting, very interesting," Esen said with a smile. He glanced at the list of names in his hand and noticed Fogort's name was not on it.

"Stuart, his name isn't on the list?"

"That's correct, Master Aellopus. He's only been a disciple for half a year, so I didn't include him."

Esen turned to Fogort. "Do you think that's fair?"

"I don't know."

"Do you want to become an inner disciple?"

Fogort shook his head.

"Why not? Many people fight for a chance to enter the inner sect, and yet you don't want to?"

"Master Aellopus, do you think I'm qualified?"

"It's not for us to decide whether you're qualified, but—"

"No, it is up to you," Fogort interrupted. "I know people say the master opens the door, but cultivation is up to the individual. But for things that can be influenced by others, I'm not really interested."

"Oh? Are you afraid of failure?"

"Maybe that's part of it, but the main reason is... I think it's too much trouble."

"Trouble?"

"Yeah. You just said it yourself-so many people are fighting for those spots in the inner sect. I don't have many strengths, but knowing when to back off might be one of them. They're all so skilled. I don't want to compete with them. It's just too much trouble."

"Oh? Then why did you come to Goodspear Mountain in the first place?"

"Why? I don't even know."

"You don't know?"

"That's right. All my life, I've just gone with the flow. Whatever my family expected of me, I'd do. They wanted me to get into a good university, so I did. They wanted me to find a good job, so I found one."

Fogort continued, "For as long as I can remember, I've been following what they told me to do. Maybe I got bored of it all. For the first time, I didn't listen to them.

"They wanted me to buy a house and get married, but I left my hometown and abandoned the girl I didn't even know. Then, somehow, I ended up here."

Esen looked into Fogort's clear eyes and asked, "Bored? Do you feel bored with everything now?"

"Yes, very bored," Fogort said bluntly. "It's the same as before. My master tells me to do something, and I do it. Of course, I have my own thoughts, but it's still the same. Maybe I'm just a dull person, destined to live a mediocre life."

"You said earlier that you do whatever your master tells you?"

"Yes."

"Then, have you mastered the talisman techniques and true energy control that your master taught you?"

"Yes, I've learned them."

"All of it?"

"Yeah, he taught me the basics. I've got them down."

Esen turned to Stuart. "Is that true?"

"It is, Master Aellopus. In just six months, I've already taught him everything I

can."

"Then, why haven't you recommended him for the inner sect?"

"He hasn't been here long enough, and he hasn't learned the part about calming the mind."

Esen pointed at Fogort. "Close your eyes."

"Okay," Fogort complied without hesitation, closing his eyes.

Esen pushed him lightly with his true energy. "What do you feel?"

"You pushed me."

"Good. Now, try to find that feeling you had when you were sleeping earlier." "Okay."

After a short while, Fogort's mouth began to drool. He stood there, fast asleep on his feet.
