Chapter 2606
My Substitute CEO Bride
The six swiftly made their way toward Goldspin Plaza.
After arriving at the entrance, they divided themselves into three groups, just as they had planned earlier.
Nash and Fogort formed one group, Whistler and Amy formed another, and Linden and Aurora made the final pair.
"Everyone, don't forget the plan," Fogort reminded them. "See you upstairs."
With that, the three groups set off in different directions.
The reason Whistler and Amy were paired was because Amy's mobility complemented Whistler's abilities. Or at least, that was what Fogort had claimed, though it was mostly a convenient excuse.
In truth, Fogort simply wanted to keep an eye on Nash, which was why he grouped with him.
As for Linden and Aurora, it was Aurora who had requested to be paired with Linden. After regaining his original strength, Linden slowly began to open up to those around him. Although he still feared troubling others, he was now more willing to connect with them, including Aurora.
Aurora, of course, was not about to miss this golden opportunity. While it might seem a bit out of place given the circumstances, she was not just thinking about their relationship. She also considered the fact that she could potentially help him.
Hence, she insisted that the two of them be paired together.
Meanwhile, things between Whistler and Amy were still quite awkward. Although Whistler had saved Amy, the two had barely spoken to each other since. Also, Whistler was not very familiar with Amy's abilities. The feeling was mutual for Amy as well.
However, there was no time to dwell on it. The two had already entered the building, and soon, a group of individuals under Alistair's control began attacking them. Without exchanging a word, they both sprang into action while keeping in mind that they had to restrain themselves.
They quickly dealt with their enemies and then proceeded toward the staircase. Just as Amy was about to open the door, Whistler grabbed her arm.
"Wait, Miss Greyson! Look at the handle!"
Amy only realized then that the door handle was covered in parasitic poison. Had Whistler not noticed in time, she might have met her end right there.
"Thanks, Whistler. But... what do we do now?"
Whistler glanced around. "The only elevators are in the central area, but we're on the left... We can't afford to slow down the others. Miss Greyson, I saw the ability you used to save Miss Duerson previously. It allows you to fly, right?"
"Yes, but I'm afraid I can't carry you along. You would be too heavy."
"What if I increase your speed and reduce my own weight at the same time? Would that work?"
Amy pondered for a moment, then replied confidently, "That might actually work! Let's give it a try."
Whistler then activated a barrier. Within this barrier, he could control two talismans at once, which was his limit.
"Swift Talisman, Lightness Talisman!"
He attached the Swift Talisman to Amy while using the Lightness Talisman on himself. Immediately, Whistler's body began to turn lighter.
"Miss Greyson, time is limited!"
"Got it!"
Amy gathered all of her energy, and a pair of crystal-clear wings sprouted from her back. With a powerful leap and assistance from Whistler's talismans, the two shot upward at incredible speed toward the top of the building.
"Incredible... I can't feel your weight at all, and with this Swift Talisman... This is amazing-wait!"
Just as she was marveling at Whistler's strength, she was suddenly struck by an attack from behind. Due to the high speed she was traveling at, Amy lost control of her position, and both she and Whistler crashed through the glass, tumbling back into the building.
