Chapter 2607

My Substitute CEO Bride

Amy trembled violently as she looked at her right hand. Though it appeared uninjured on the surface, she could no longer feel it. She turned to Whistler.

"Whistler, are you alright?!"

Whistler unraveled the two talismans and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.

"I'm fine. Thanks to the talismans, I wasn't seriously harmed. Miss Greyson, leave the rest to me."

Whistler was aware of Amy's condition and did not want her to push herself any further. The two of them glanced outside the window, and Amy's eyes widened in disbelief.

"It's Rocco!"

No wonder her flight was interrupted mid-air. Rocco had manipulated his true energy and swung it through the air. What shocked her more was the realization that Rocco, who had already died, was now being controlled...

Whistler attacked first.

"Golden Light!"

Radiant golden light engulfed his entire body. Several golden fists materialized from the light and shot toward Rocco, who was suspended in the air by threads of true energy.

Using the true energy threads to maneuver himself, Rocco dodged the attacks, but Whistler's barrage was too relentless. One of the golden fists struck the true energy threads, breaking them. Rocco plummeted to the ground.

Just as Whistler was about to look over Amy's injuries, Rocco used his six arms to climb up to their floor.

"Is this guy a reincarnation of a spider?" Whistler muttered in disbelief.

Both sides were extremely cautious. Whistler knew that wasting time here was pointless; they needed to act quickly. However, if Rocco continued to interfere, escaping would become increasingly difficult. They needed to deliver a decisive blow.

While assessing Amy's injuries earlier, Whistler realized that at present, Rocco was merely a puppet. With that in mind, he formulated a plan but knew he had to wait for the right moment when Rocco revealed his weakness.

Eventually, Rocco launched an attack with his true energy that was laced with the poison from within him. Whistler recognized that the time had come! He pulled out a true energy ball that he had been constantly charging from his hand, throwing it at Rocco.

Just as Rocco's true energy attack, which had been laced with poison, was about to hit Whistler, it inexplicably changed direction.

Amy had not yet grasped what was happening but snapped her eyes toward Rocco.

Rocco was struck by Whistler's attack. However, the attack was strange as it did not appear to have inflicted any visible harm. In that case, why did the attack aimed at Whistler veer off course?

Whistler moved to Amy's side to tend to her injuries, and Amy voiced her confusion, “What just happened?"

"Oh? You mean the attack? It's quite simple. I was just conducting an experiment."

"An experiment?"

It was more like a gamble. Whistler was testing his abilities in real combat, demonstrating just how confident he was. His gamble involved mimicking the mind control that Linden had previously used, essentially recreating the barrier that Linden had cast before.

However, Whistler had simplified the technique by compressing the barrier into a small ball that he could influence, then injecting it into Rocco's body.

This was one part of his gamble as there was another thing he was gambling with. "Even if he attacked us first with his poison-laced true energy, he would still be slower than me. This was my second bet."
