Chapter 2636
My Substitute CEO Bride
Nash watched as those he once cherished died before him. This should have been a memory that did not exist, yet he could feel the emotions all too vividly now.
Hera, the Lewises, Theo, and everyone else had perished. Only Nash remained.
He cried out in agony, realizing that the cause of it all was not simply the one change he made. It was the chaos of cause and effect that had influenced everyone around him. The root of it all was Nash himself.
He rolled his eyes back. His gaze was empty, as if he had lost his mind. At that moment, all the pain from his life surged to the surface.
Despair washed over him, followed by a foolish laugh. "Nash, you're such a fool..."
Suddenly, the All Souls Token appeared behind him. "After thousands of years, the only one who can inherit me has gone mad..."
Just then, whether it was due to Nash's heartbreaking cries or another reason, the Heaven-Shaking Tome unexpectedly appeared by Nash's side.
The All Souls Token noticed the Heaven-Shaking Tome's intent and realized it could not allow it to interfere in this matter.
Then, both the All Souls Token and the Heaven-Shaking Tome entered Nash's body. In an instant, time and space began to twist again.
Nash regained his senses and found himself seated once more at the chessboard. However, this time, he was not the player but an observer. The two figures playing against each other both resembled Nash.
The All Souls Token stepped forward. "Heaven-Shaking, what do you mean by this?"
Without hesitation, the Heaven-Shaking Tome made a move and replied, "All Souls, you still enjoy playing with people's hearts, don't you?"
Nash felt confused by the Heaven-Shaking Tome's words but could not speak, allowing the two to continue their game.
The Heaven-Shaking Tome remarked, "We have always lived in contradiction, haven't we?"
The All Souls Token dismissed this with a scoff. "What do you mean?"
"It's true that we don't wish to violate the ancient pact. However, you, who are meant to heal the hearts of the world, have begun to corrupt them. Isn't that rather ironic?"
"Did you come just to say this to me?"
"Of course not. I came to correct your mistakes and change your mind."
"My mind? Do you really think you can compete with me on my territory?!" The All Souls Token exerted great force, causing the chess pieces on the board to appear as if they were about to shatter.
The Heaven-Shaking Tome calmly reset the pieces. "Joy, anger, sorrow, and worry... All Souls, do you remember the original purpose for which I was created?"
The All Souls Token smirked slightly.
The Heaven-Shaking Tome continued, "The Six Ritualistic Weapons, each possessing a unique ability that the others do not. And my ability is to harmonize the conflicts between these ritualistic weapons. Do you recall?
"If a suitable candidate arises in the human realm, someone who can become a leader among humanity, I, the Heaven-Shaking Tome, will lend my assistance. With my presence, it becomes possible to balance the excess spiritual energy of the other five ritualistic weapons, allowing the host to better receive their powers."
The All Souls Token grew impatient. "So what? You've rambled on about this for so long to convey what exactly?"
At this point, the Heaven-Shaking Tome pointed at Nash. "Perhaps he's the one we're looking for."
The All Souls Token scoffed. "You mean this useless person who can't even pass my trial?"
"Do you not know why he did what he did?" The Heaven-Shaking Tome said suddenly. "If I'm not mistaken, you indirectly pushed him to make some decisions, didn't you?
"That decision, just as you predicted, changed Nash's fate. After that, you directed all outcomes toward the worst possible scenarios, didn't you?"
