Chapter 2637
My Substitute CEO Bride
"You call him useless, yet his fate changed because of you. Were you afraid that he'd truly pass the trial?"
"Shut up!" the All Souls Token responded angrily. "I played chess with him! I know how he'll make his next move. It's all part of his original fate!"
"But you changed him!" The Heaven-Shaking Tome could no longer remain calm.
He flipped the chessboard over. "All Souls, have you lost the courage to continue?"
The All Souls Token glared at the Heaven-Shaking Tome, feeling irritated. "What do you mean?"
"All Souls, why not play another game of chess with the current Nash?"
"Fine! Why would I be afraid?!"
With just a glance from the All Souls Token, Nash found himself able to move freely, though he still could not speak.
The Heaven-Shaking Tome stepped aside. Nash then sat down at the familiar chessboard.
This time, Nash played black and the token played white.
Nash made the first move. The two engaged in a match atop the board.
However, the All Souls Token found it strange that this time as it could not predict Nash's next move at all. Consequently, it resorted to following Nash's previous moves from memory.
They played for what felt like countless days and nights.
The game remained unfinished.
Suddenly, Nash made a seemingly meaningless move.
The All Souls Token laughed. "I see it's just as I thought!"
Unbeknownst to the All Souls Token, this pawn move was actually the winning
step.
Soon, the pivotal moment of fate seemed to show no change, and each move continued as normal.
Yet the final result was that the All Souls Token was left with only one king while Nash still possessed a pawn and a king. Now, the pawn was just one step away from victory. With one move, the pawn captured the king.
Nash won.
At that moment, Nash lifted his head and looked at the All Souls Token in front of him.
"Every step you took was brilliant, and not only in appearance. Each of your chess moves was something I had considered, or rather, you're actually me."
Nash extended his hand.
"But you're the past, the version of me that has already solidified while I, in every moment, am progressing. Undeniably, you defeated me once, and I fell into the confusion you envisioned.
"But I'm sorry to disappoint you, I refuse to stop. No matter how painful the journey may be, I'll keep moving forward.
"For those who have passed and for the living, I'll continuously change. This is my answer as a human being."
After Nash spoke, the All Souls Token looked up at him.
These words, this stance...
"Too similar, too much alike. Heaven-Shaking truly didn't deceive me..."
Then, the All Souls Token reached out as well, and the two clasped hands tightly.
A white light appeared before Nash, and the light grew brighter. Nash instinctively closed his eyes. When he opened them again, he found himself in the hall of Goldspin Plaza.
He took out his phone to check the time.
Only a minute had passed since he entered the inner world of the token.
