Chapter 2716
My Substitute CEO Bride
"Let's break this down. When wealthy individuals come to Palvere, do you think Orson would simply give them true energy? Obviously not. He's also infusing his own true energy into the mix. This way, he can manipulate their emotions and even their thoughts.
"It doesn't need to be overly intricate. As long as he can keep influencing them subtly, they'll willingly settle in Palvere. Due to Orson's influence, they'll invest all their wealth into the city, which will all naturally flow into his pockets.
"Thus, the cycle is complete-wealthy people continuously move to Palvere, resulting in the local population becoming a minority and the city thriving immensely. Miss Wakefield's marriage is also part of the scheme.
"Orson must have done something to the people of Capiton, prompting them to suddenly engage in this transaction. The result is likely the Mauris family moving to Palvere, further fattening Orson's wallet."
Back on the battlefield, Wrendell had now appeared before Orson.
"Mr. Wakefield, I'm sorry, but my friend has informed me of all your misdeeds. There's no escape for you today."
Orson remained calm and collected. "You little brat. You're still a child, and you dare to boast in front of me?!"
He summoned three malignants. However, in the next second, the malignants returned to his body. Orson was dumbfounded. "How is this possible? Why didn't they manifest?! What's going on?!"
He looked at Wrendell incredulously. He thought to himself, 'Impossible! Is that kid actually suppressing my abilities?'
While Reese and Tybalt found the ability somewhat challenging to deal with, Wrendell had the Light Reflector Mirror within him, so it was a piece of cake. However, since he had just inherited the mirror, he was still relatively inexperienced.
He could only pour all his energy into dealing with one or two opponents to avoid any mistakes.
Seeing that his strategy was not working, Orson hurriedly activated all the true energy within him. "Come! Everyone, come to me!"
In an instant, Orson's command echoed into the skies. He proceeded to look down on Wrendell with disdain. "Kid, you've picked the wrong person to mess with!"
Some time passed, but the scene he had hoped for, which was an overwhelming wave of people coming to attack Wrendell, did not materialize.
Orson had no choice but to channel his true energy and shout at the sky a few more times. At that moment, Wrendell punched him, sending him flying. Several of his teeth were even knocked out.
Orson could hardly believe what was happening. He should have been able to control them. Why was this happening?
Finally, the sound of synchronized footsteps echoed in the air. Orson stood up triumphantly. âKid! I'm telling you, you're out of luck!"
Soon after, a crowd rounded the front courtyard and headed straight toward the place where the two were fighting. However, before Orson could gloat for too long, the sight before him made his jaw drop once again. The people were heading directly toward Wrendell.
Orson cried out, "No! I'm right here! Come back to me!"
Wrendell let out a mocking laugh. "What's this? So, even a scumbag like you is capable of making such a pathetic expression? Old man, use that tiny brain of yours to think carefully.
"If I can suppress those three little malignants inside you, why can't I nullify or override your control?"
Wrendell had knocked on the door of every household yesterday.
