Chapter 2719

My Substitute CEO Bride

Wrendell's eyes rolled back as he collapsed to the ground. Reese quickly deactivated the armor's ability, and with that, the incident in Palvere came to an end.

Reese contacted Nash to explain the situation. Given the significant impact of the events in Palvere, Reese decided to involve the official government and capital to handle the aftermath.

Soon after, a well-armed military unit entered Palvere. The soldiers began taking away the people who had been under control, reportedly to investigate any residual energy and assess their mental states.

Reese did not say much; he would leave this matter to them. These individuals would undoubtedly face the consequences of their actions as they had sacrificed many lives in their dealings with Orson.

In the future, Palvere would also see a new governor take office, but what kind of changes would unfold there? Reese had no way of knowing.

He chose not to share the full details of Orson's dealings with Tybalt and the others. The reason was simple-this matter was already over. What difference would it make to know the truth?

If he were to tell Tybalt that his scoundrel father was also in Palvere, what kind of chaos would that bring? Reese could not fathom it, so he opted to keep quiet.

...

At the hospital, Peony was accompanying Hazel to Tybalt's ward. Unfortunately, it seemed that his arm could no longer be fixed. Not only that, he was also constantly losing consciousness.

All Hazel could do was stay by Tybalt's side, but she felt a sense of confusion creeping in. Her father and brother were gone, and although their deaths were justified, what came next? Life had to go on, and she could not allow Peony to suffer anymore.

Thinking of this, she tightened her grip on Peony's hand. Peony understood her sister's feelings. Looking at her, she said, "Everything will be fine. Tybalt will be fine, Hazel. When he wakes up, you should go with him."

At these words, Hazel's eyes began to well up with tears. "Peony, what are you saying?"

Peony smiled softly. "I've already figured out my path, so it's alright. Hazel, just go toward the future you believe will bring you happiness."

Hazel could hardly believe that Peony could speak so confidently. However, looking back, she realized that Peony had always been more straightforward than she was. Peony would stand up against their father and fight to rescue Mather and the others. During the parade, she even chose to cut her wrist when she realized her actions would cause more harm.

Peony was far bolder and more direct in her rebellion than Hazel was.

With that in mind, Hazel realized she did not need to worry about Peony's future. She had faith that Peony would live an exciting life ahead.

Two days passed before the inspectors returned to Palvere with their final results. The conclusions were drawn. Excluding one-third of the local residents, all other outsiders had engaged in transactions involving true energy.

As a result, these individuals would undergo labor-related transformations under the capital's arrangement.

The local enterprises and industrial chains would be taken over by the capital. The capital would conduct a reasonable breakdown of the industries before handing them over to the local authorities. All assets under Orson's name would be surrendered.

As for his relatives, arrangements would be made for them according to the severity of the situation after inquiries were completed.

As a result, Palvere would temporarily cease to exist as a city and would instead become a regional district.
