Chapter 296
My Substitute CEO Bride
Chapter 296
âWho else do you think paid for them? You?â
âYou still havenât told me who you are!â
The night-shift guardâs nostrils flared as he glared at them.
The fact the two had managed to slip in during his shift indicated his responsibility.
The day-shift guardâs eyes narrowed as he whispered into the other guardâs ears.
He spoke in the local dialect, and Nash did not understand what he said although he could hear them.
The night shift guard frowned before he nodded and said in standard English, âYou may leave now. If you arenât against it, you can have a cup of tea at Kingsley Apothecary at No. 18, Kingsley Street!â
The duo wheeled the barrow into the mausoleum after that.
Finn asked, âI think they managed to guess who we are!â
Nash nodded. âLetâs go take a look at the place they mentioned!â
The two walked to the main road, where they waited for another half hour before they managed to get
a cab.
âKingsley Apothecary.â
At the entrance to the Young Gardens.
An ordinary-looking Renault van pulled to a stop.
Two men dressed snugly in windbreakers, caps, and sunglasses got out.
âYoung Gardens!â
âI knew it, warden. I knew you were a member of the Young Family Village!â
Stellar trembled.
The Young family had once been an extremely prestigious and well-known family. Their massacre had attracted plenty of attention.
Moreover, the warden had once mentioned his entire family had died in a fire.
The timings of these two incidents had been very close to each other.
Hence, he had long since suspected the warden was from the Young Family Village.
âGiven your age, you would be in the same generation as Wolfgang Young, whose middle name is
Philix!â
âAdditionally, Wolfgangâs wife is from the Xing family, which is why you changed your name to Philix Xing. That way, you could honor your wifeâs memory and conceal your true identity!â
Stellar smiled as he turned to look at the warden standing next to him. âIâm right, arenât I?â
âSince when were you so well-informed on the Young familyâs history?â Philix asked in surprise.
âIt all started about five years ago. You got drunk during a celebratory dinner for winning a battle and let it slip that you lost your family in a fire!â
âLetâs go⦠Iâll tell you everything once Iâve paid my respects to my father!â
Sagen.
Green Bamboo Association.
Dominic stood by the window and calmly stared out at the sea.
The waters were calm, but he was not.
Not one of the Ten Juggernauts remained, and all one thousand of the grandmasters were dead as well.
Overnight, the Green Bamboo Association had been reduced to practically nothing.
The other forces in Sagen were itching to make a move, and the Green Bamboo Associationâs dominance was in danger.
âMr. Carter, you must avenge my grandfather and his friends!â Winnie, who had been spared because he was in the hospital recuperating from previous injuries, sobbed as he knelt.
âAvenge?â
âHahâ¦â
Dominic laughed a self-deprecating laugh as he said hoarsely, âWeâre struggling to even protect ourselves now. How are we supposed to avenge them?â
âWhat about Mr. Holt?â
âWasnât he going to Jonford? Why did he go back on his word?â
Winnie was confused.
The deputy president of the Green Bamboo Association, Zachary, had achieved the Mystique Loyalty
Realm, and he had set out to Jonford last night.
However, he had realized upon his return today that Zachary had not gone to Jonford.
Dominic leaned on his walking stick and turned around before saying bitterly, âThe Smiling Grim Reaper summoned three thousand great-grandmasters yesterday. Mr. Holt would have died even if
he went there!â

In the Snyder Estateâs studyâ¦
Mr. Snyder Sr. held the photograph in his hands.
Tears shone in his eyes as he said, âRuby, the Green Bamboo Associationâs Ten Juggernauts are dead now. You must be overjoyed, right?â
âGrandpa⦠weâre back!â
Felicity did not bother knocking on the door before she barged in.
Mr. Snyder Sr. hurriedly placed the picture in a book.
Then, he wiped his tears away as he said exasperatedly, âKnock before you enter!â
The smile on Felicityâs face froze. âGrandpa, are you crying?â
A twinge of sadness tugged on her heartstrings as she hurried forth and gently asked, âGrandpa, whatâs wrong?â
Mr. Snyder Sr. forced himself to smile. âIâm overjoyed because the Ten Juggernauts are dead!â
Felicity said in an intriguing tone, âSomethingâs up with you, Grandpa. You always forbade me from having anything to do with the Ten Juggernauts!â
Mr. Snyder Sr. smiled sadly. âThatâs because you didnât stand a fighting chance against them, and I was worried about your safety!â
Felicity put her arms behind her back and asked in an accusing tone, âGrandpa, are you hiding something from me? Our family doesnât have a massive grudge against the Green Bamboo Association, so why are you so overjoyed that youâre crying over the Ten Juggernautsâ deaths?â
