Chapter 465
My Substitute CEO Bride
Chapter 465
Harrison and Lauren got into the car, and before they left, Lauren instructed, âHera, donât be too upset. The important thing is that the upgrade parts are safe. Iâve already contacted the suppliers to reconstruct the control room.
âIf everything goes smoothly, we can resume production within three days.â
Harrison nodded in agreement as well. âWeâve been slugging it out for the past two weeks. These next few days will give us a chance to rest.â
Hera gently nodded, replying, âI understand. Drive safely on your way.â
After Harrison and Lauren left, Nash and Hera returned to the villa. There was breakfast prepared by Maria on the table, but Hera had no appetite.
Hera suddenly recalled that Nash had gone to the warehouse and five people were rescued from the fire. They were now in the hospital. âNash, youâre not injured, are you?â
Nash smiled. âNo, Iâm not injured. Such a small fire canât harm me.â
He even opened his arms and spun around.
Hera hugged Nash. A hint of vulnerability in her voice, she muttered, âThank goodness you were there. Otherwise, those parts wouldâve been destroyed and our partnership with Drake Group wouldâve washed down the drain.â
Nash patted Heraâs back gently. âOlivia and I have a good relationship with one another. The partnership wouldâve been fine.â
Hera continued, âNo⦠Our photolithography machine is already quite old. If we donât upgrade it soon, the chips we produce will have significant drawbacks. That has been one of the reasons our companyâs performance has been lackluster.
âWe spent over three months purchasing this batch of chips. It wouldâve probably taken another three months if theyâd been burned. We can wait, but I doubt Drake Group can.
âEven if they did give us more time out of their respect for you, Drake Group would suffer significant losses,â Hera explained. She looked into Nashâs deep eyes while embracing his neck.
âEither way, we managed to avert the danger this time,â Nash said while holding Heraâs waist. He looked at her gentle red lips and felt the urge to kiss her.
However, Hera let go of Nash at this moment and took out her phone. âI need to call and check on those injured employees.â
Feeling a bit disappointed, Nash sat down on the nearby sofa and grabbed an apple to fill his stomach. Just then, Olivia called. He answered the call and put it on speaker mode before placing it on the table.
âNash, I heard that Baroque caught fire last night?â
âYeah, it did,â Nash answered as he took a bite of the apple. He shrugged off the clothes that had been burned as they were scratching his skin.
âWas it a safety incident or was it a case of arson?â Olivia asked.
âIt should be arson. The inspectors from the Inspection Office are already on the case, so you donât need to worry,â Nash mumbled absent-mindedly as he took another bite of the apple while shirtless.
âAlright. Nash. Iâve settled Luna. I bought her a small apartment and gave her some 30,000 dollars as a living allowance.â
âWhy so much? I only wanted you to manage your cousin so that heâd stop bothering the young woman.
Nash was somewhat surprised. He wondered if Olivia had misunderstood his intentions. He and that young woman were not close. He only helped her based on a sense of justice back then.
âMy cousin actually likes her. Heâs rather outgoing but couldnât bring himself to confess to her, so he resorted to this schemeâ¦â Olivia explained.
âWhat about her father?â
âIâve talked to her father, and he has already turned himself in. Iâll look for a housekeeper to take care of Lunaâs family. This way, itâll be like weâre helping out a future addition to our family.â
âYour cousin needs some discipline. This time, he met me. If he had provoked someone else with a shorter temper, he might not have gotten away with just a beating.â
There was a hint of seriousness in Nashâs tone. In countries where guns were not restricted, even minor conflicts could result in casualties. During his travels to such disorderly places, encounters with troublemakers usually ended in dismembered limbs.
While Somerlandâs society was more orderly, there were still some hot-tempered martial artists out and about.
When Olivia caught the sternness in Nashâs tone, she shivered slightly and quickly added, Nash, my father has already disciplined him. He wonât dare to act recklessly anymore. Itâs all thanks to you. My father had always indulged him before.â
