Chapter 524
My Substitute CEO Bride
Chapter 524
â600cc doesnât sound like a lot⦠I usually donate about the same amount of blood,â Helena whispered.
âBut she has anemia, so drawing 600cc of blood can be life- threatening.
âI really admire this young lady, though. Sheâs unafraid of death and willing to give everything for her beloved man. Iâm sure her boyfriend must love her very much.â
The young nurseâs eyes sparkled with admiration. She had assumed the couple to have a deep and loving relationship. If she had a boyfriend who loved her so much, she would be willing to give everything to him as well.
Hera looked at Helena with disbelief. In her mind, Helena was simply with Kai for the money. When Kai fell from grace, she assumed
Helena was waiting for Walter to lift the sanctions on him. She never expected Helena to take such a big risk to save Kai.
âHelenaâ¦â
A hoarse voice sounded from the door. Hera turned to see Hubert, disheveled and haggard. He was wearing a large overcoat and appeared somewhat disoriented.
âHelena, my daughterâ¦â
Hubert rushed to the side of the bed with tears streaming down his
face. âMy daughter, what happened to you?â
Harrison watched this scene with mixed emotions. He had not seen Hubert for almost a month, and in that time, he had gone from a confident and aggressive person to a disheveled beggar.
Lauren was also silent.
Helena slowly opened her eyes upon hearing her fatherâs voice. She saw her weary father and the Lewis family gathered around.
Overwhelmed, Helena reached out as if to remove her oxygen mask. However, Hera stepped forward and held her hand gently, whispering,â I know what you want to say. Nash will be here soon. If Kai can hold
on until he arrives, Nash will surely save him.â
Helenaâs throat was too dry for her to speak. Tears in her eyes, she moved her lips and conveyed a two-word message silently, âIâm sorry.â
In that moment, all grievances and misunderstandings dissipated
with those two words.
Unable to hold back her tears anymore, Hera gripped Helenaâs hand tightly and said, âFocus on getting well. Donât worry about anything else.â
Helenaâs family was the only relatives Hera had in Jonford. As long
as Helena had truly changed and repented, there was no reason not
to let go of all of their past grudges.
Duncan and his bodyguards arrived at the entrance of the ICU.
Duncan hurriedly approached Walter with a concerned expression.â Mr. Watson, I heard Kai got into a car accident. How is he doing now?â
Walter shook his head silently. Duncanâs visit to check on Kai was not
surprising, given their good relationship.
Queenie looked at Duncan curiously and asked, âDuncan, how did you know my cousin was here?â
Just as she said that, Sydney and Olivia also approached.
Duncan turned to look at Sydney and Olivia, then asked, âHow could we upper-class families not know about something so major such as Kai getting into an accident?â
Kai was the eldest son of the wealthiest family in Jonford. His name was well-known, and when an accident like this happened, it would surely be widely covered by the media.
âMr. Watson, thereâs a saying that good people have good fortunes. Iâm sure Kai will be fine,â Olivia comforted softly. Even though she did not particularly like Kai, she had to maintain a façade due to the Watson familyâs status in Jonford.
Sydney chimed in, âThatâs right, donât be too upset. Iâve arranged for some rare medicine to be sent to the Watson family. You can use it
to help Kai regain his health when he recovers.â
âThank you all. I appreciate your efforts,â Walter replied.
With a ding, the red light above the ICU turned green. Dean and Casey
walked out together. Both of them looked physically exhausted and
regretful.
Dean removed his mask and gloves before saying in a low voice, âIâm
sorry, we did our best.â
Walter understood what that meant all too well.
