Chapter 92
My Substitute CEO Bride
Chapter 92
Xeno sent Nash to the gates of Rex District and said, âNash, weâre here.â
Nash nodded. âIâm sorry to trouble you.â
Overwhelmed by his remark, Xeno replied, âYou exaggerate, Nash. You can look for me anytime if you need me in the future.â
Nash got out of the vehicle with Hera in his arms.
Skadi was still looking at Xeno. She could not help but think that she had seen this person before. Still, she did not manage to put a finger on it even after some time passed.
Back at the apartment, Nash laid Hera on the bed and started massaging the back of her neck as he imbued his energy with every push.
âIs Hera alright?â Skadi asked nervously.
Nash nodded. âItâs not a big problem. What happened, though? Did you two offend someone again?â
Seated on the computer chair, Skadi shook her head and answered, âHera is so pure and kind. How could she have offended anyone? I wouldnât dare cause trouble out there either since I want to protect her.â
Recalling how she had almost been defiled just now, she immediately felt aggrieved and shifted the blame to Nash. âYou talk like it isnât your fault. If youâd gone shopping with Hera, we wouldnât have been kidnapped.â
Nash joked, âArenât you a martial arts champion in Jonford? How did a group of hooligans manage to subdue you?â
Skadiâs expression morphed slightly, but she was quick to retort, âThey snuck onto us with a tranquilizer gun. I was careless.â It was a silent tranquilizer gun that caused the target to instantly lose consciousness upon getting hit.
She had only been thinking about checking out the food stalls with Hera and stopped paying attention to their surroundings, which was how they ended up falling into a trap.
Nash could not help but smile at that, but he did not say anything more.
Skadi crossed her legs and folded her arms across her chest as she reprimanded him, âNash, this is already the second time. Heraâs going to end up hurt if you continue to be so casual.â
He nodded solemnly at that. âYouâre right. Iâll definitely keep that in mind.â
She leaned back against the chair and muttered softly, âFirst, it was assassins. Now, itâs the Green Bamboo Association. Hera guessed that her uncle is the one who sent those assassins, but could he also be behind the Green Bamboo Association?â
Nash kept silent since he had no idea who caused this.
Skadi took out Heraâs cell phone. She was about to report Heraâs safety to Lauren when she noticed the 90 missed calls the moment she switched on the phone.
They were mostly from Lauren and Harrison, and Mr. Lewis had also snuck a few calls in. What caught her eye was a number saved as âLittle Master,â and this person had called three times.
Skadi dialed the number out of curiosity.
The phone in Nashâs pocket quickly vibrated. He fished his phone out of his pocket and saw that it was Heraâs number.
He turned and looked at Skadi, only to hear her say, âLittle Masterâ¦â
She hung up and called Lauren. In just three seconds, Lauren answered the call and said sharply, âHera, where have you been? Why havenât you been answering your phone?â
Skadi could hear a lot more noises from the other end of the phone.
It sounded like Rooney cursing.
âLauren, i-itâs Skadi. Heraâs phone ran out of battery when we were shopping!â
Skadi did not dare tell her what had happened just now as she did not want to worry her.
Laurenâs tone softened a little when she heard that. âWhereâs Hera? Can you put her on the phone?â
âHera, she⦠Uhâ¦.â
Skadi looked at Hera, who was still unconscious, and did not know what to say.
Nash got up and went toward Skadi. He grabbed the phone, answering, âHello, Lauren. Heraâs asleep right now.â
Lauren heaved a sigh of relief when she heard Nashâs voice but quickly frowned again. âYou three are together?â
Nash laughed and answered, âThey went to watch a movie tonight, so I tagged along. Weâre on our way home now. Weâre in the car.â
Only then did Lauren feel her worry melt away. Right after that, she yelled, âHarrison, stop hitting him!â
Then, the call went dead.
