Chapter 68: Casual Stroll
Forbidden Heat
âNoâ¦â I replied softly.
âThe north that your compass points you to is based on magnetic fields and so it can change and can be different from where the north pole really is. However, the True North never changes, it is always in one place according to the Earthâs axis. In that sense, the True North is true,â Edward explained slowly.
âI seeâ¦â I said while staring back into his gorgeous green eyes. Why is he telling me this?
âDonât lose the necklace, Natalia. More importantly, donât lose your True North,â Edward warned me slowly before placing a kiss on my neck.
I nodded silently as I ran my hand around my neck to feel the necklace. Regardless of what I said, I am quite happy that Edward gave this to me. Donât lose my True Northâ¦
âNatalia, want to go outside?â Edward asked tugging on my arm.
âYâ¦yeahâ¦Letâs go,â I replied without much thought.
â¦
âWhere are we going?â I asked when we stepped outside. The weather was wonderful. The level of sunlight, the cool wind, and the breathtaking scenery of the green-blue lake. It was all so perfect. I wonder if that was the reason why Edward decided to purchase this place.
âWhat about a stroll along the lake? We could also sit on the swing like last time,â Edward suggesting with a smile. He held my hand and for a moment it felt like we were regular lovers on a normal date.
âLetâs go for a stroll,â I said as I squeezed his large hands in mine.
We strolled along the side of the lake feeling the wind brush against our face and hair. It felt so relaxing and such a big change from being locked up in the mansion. Once in a long time, I was enjoying myself just being outside without a clear objective in mind. It was late in the day already, people back at the mansion must have discovered that Iâm missing by now. I wonderâ¦
âReiner knows youâre with me,â Edward said without much care.
He probably knows where we are as well, Edward thought to himself. But there is no need to tell My Princess that.
âDid he call you? Is everything ok back at home?â I asked with some worry. Reiner and Lucien are probably very angry and worried right now.
âReiner texted. Iâm not surprised he knows. Donât worry, my guess is that heâll hold the fort and keep it a secret from Lucien until we get back. Most of my guesses are spot on by the way,â Edward said with confidence. How can this guy be so cocky?
âWhen are we going back?â I asked. I mean, we are planning to go back at some point soon, right?
âCome and sit here,â Edward patted the spot next to him on the grass as he sat down, totally ignoring my previous question. It was clear that he did not want to talk about it.
I sat down next to him on the grass, stretching out my legs. This feels pretty nice and enjoyable. I loss myself in nature for a while as I appreciated the sight of the lake and enjoyed the feel of the wind in my hair and on my skin. This isnât what I came here for. I came here to ask Edward about my dream or the find out something about it. I turned to Edward to see him focused on his phone.
âEdward, what are you doing?â I asked, cocking my head slightly to the side.
âChecking on the weather forecast update,â he replied. The weather seemed fine. I couldnât understand why he was bothered.
âHey, Edward. Can you tell me what you know about my dream? I actually told Lucien about it, and he said that he doesnât remember an event like that. So, maybe it really didnât happen?â I asked Edward. I know he said he wouldnât answer any of my questions, but a girl can try, right?
âI told you. Iâm not answering any of your questions,â Edward repeated the same response he gave me earlier to me. Why is he making this so difficult?
âIâll believe what you tell me. At least, Iâll try my best to. Ok?â I said as I tried to convince him. I mean, if what he said sounded crazy, maybe I can just laugh it off. How bad can it be?
âNo, you wonât. This conversation is over. Iâm not going to tell you anything,â Edward replied firmly leaving no room for negotiations. If I press him further, he will probably get mad.
âThen, can you tell me why you brought me to this place a while back? I think I started having those dreams because I came hereâ¦â I asked.
âNice try but Iâm not answering this question either,â Edward shot back. This is harder than I thought, he wonât budge at all on this.
âHonestly! Why do you have to make this so difficult? If you know something, why wonât you just come right out and tell me straight?!â I shouted at him. Oh noâ¦I didnât mean to scream at him. I knew I was in the wrong immediately, but those words could not be undone.
The green of Edwardâs eyes as he stared at me darkened immediately and I swear the color of the lake also darkened to match his eyes and his temper. Edward was crazy angry right now. Iâve never seen this look on him before and I started to feel fear.
âItâs not my fault that you forgot, and I seriously mean it when I say that you wonât believe me even if I told you,â Edward said in a cold voice. Although, he did not raise his voice at me, it was clear that he was boiling with anger.
âEdwardâ¦â I started my apology when my lips were sealed with his kiss.
âLetâs continue with our âlaterâ now,â Edward said temptingly as he pushed me down into the grass with his whole body on top of mine.
--To be continuedâ¦
