Once Rejected My Alpha Stepbrother Wants Me Back Chapter 34
Once Rejected My Alpha Stepbrother Wants Me Back
Chapter 34
Ashtonâs POV
It felt really weird serving as a waiter. Iâm an alpha and most people here are aware of that but seeing me carry a tray of food and serving? Fuck, it made people gawk at me like Iâm wearing the back of my shirt.
I made my way to the table number mom told me but before I could reach there, I saw the backs of two ladies but something made me stop.
One of the ladies looked familiar. Her wavy brown hair, the dress she woreâ¦and mostly her scent,
told me it was her.
Josie, I crooned under my breath as I paused and drank her in.
I could see her body shaking as she whispered something to her friend. I felt her mixed emotions though. Like sheâs angry and feeling the need to be comforted.
It made me want to cross the space between us and launch her into my arms, comforting her.
I already have everything about her features imprinted in my mind.
Warmth bloomed in my chest as I started inching close to her.
Before I could drop the tray on their table, I heard her saying. âIâll never return to him again!â
The harsh sounds of her voice and the weight of her words crushed me. I knew without thinking twice she was referring to me.
So, she had made up her mind never to get back with me? Is that how much she hates me?
âHello, ladies,â I said, startling them.
Josie held my gaze and froze but I didnât see any flash of guilt or regret. When I looked at her friend, she looked at me with contempt.
I wonder what Josie told her about me. She cocked her head and looked into the food.
âWere you the one that made this?â Josieâs friend asked, pointing at the Knafeh.
âNot at allâ¦â I stuttered.
My face scrunched up when I saw the look of relaxation on her face. What was she thinking? That Iâd poison them?
âGlad. I wouldnât want my food contaminated.â She blurted.
âJaneâ¦â Josie gave her friend an admonishing look and uttered. âTune it down. Heâs just a serverâ¦â
Chapter 34
I was actually thinking Josie was stepping in for me but her last words crushed that little bit of smile that touched my lips..
Oh, she just sees me as a server? I thought, bile clumping up in my throat.
âYeah, I thought as much.â Her friend intoned, shrugging her shoulders.
âWould you want anything else?â I asked politely.
âNone at all. You can go.â Josie chirped, waving me off.
I took one last look at her as I made my way back into the kitchen. Her words running through my mind.
Heâs just a server.
âSheâs right, thatâs what youâre. My lycan said sarcastically to my annoyance.
âFuck off!â I barked, blocking him off.
I spent an extra hour in the kitchen, washing the dishes as I did before. It never seemed to end. My mother and Emma prepared for the reservation.
Even while I was busy washing, thoughts about Josie kept filtering through my mind and the urge to know whether she had left nibbled at me.
My lycan was howling and biting at me to go and have a look. Trust me, I have tried to leave here and check but fuck, mom kept getting in the way.
She kept sending me more errands thatâd prevent me from going outside.
Deciding I had had enough, I dumped the plate I was holding into the water with a thump, making the soapy water splash on my hands.
I grabbed the washcloth and dried my hands.
Turning to exit the kitchen, my mother called out again.
âAsh, you havenât finished the dishes yet!â She thundered.
Biting my lip, I growled. âI know, mother. Iâll be right back.â
âWait, come and wash two more beforeâ¦â
Chapter 34
I didnât wait for her to even finish talking and slammed the door with urgency, walking into the dining hall.
Everywhere looked dim, making me annoyed because I couldnât see Josie around. I wonder why Mother didnât put better bright lights.
After walking down the path they were, I found out they had gone.
However, as I turned the corner, just across from the counter, I saw Josie in the midst ofâ¦five men.
Her friend was there also, holding one of the men.
The one sitting beside Josie was somewhat older than I am and he had his arm on the back of Josieâs headrest. He was trying to touch her and it made my blood boil.
A growl tore from my lips as I stood before them watching the man as he flicked his fingers in Josieâs
hair.
âDid anyone call for him?â The man touching Josieâs hair said, looking back and forth.
âObviously, no one did!â Josie chirped, looking back at the table. I watched her clutch her glass of wine and sip.
âAhh, boy, you may go. We donât need you.â The man uttered, still oblivious to my alpha aura.
Instead of leaving though, I snapped. âPlease, this restaurant takes modesty very seriously. I advise you to take your hands off of her.â I said to the fucker beside Josie, touching her hair.
âWhat?â The man yelped, surprised. âI believe youâre new to Hellâs Kitchen boy, go check out the rules. You donât order your customers around.â He snapped at me.
I maintained my words, refusing to leave until he got his filthy hands off of Josie. I was already. balling my hands into fists, ready to punch the breath out of him when he rose to his feet swiftly and called my mother.
âMaggie, is this how you train your boys?â He said quickly when my mom emergedâ¦
âWhat happened?â Came my motherâs voice. She turned to me and stared, âWhat did you do,
Ashton?â
âNothing!â I shrugged, shoving my hands into my pockets. âI just tried to correct some indecency.â I added.
My mother tsked and muttered âFollow me!â
My annoyance flared and I stole one look in the manâs direction.
I made a mental note of how I going to kill him if he ever touched her again..
Chapter 34
Walking into the kitchen, I banged the door and huffed.
My mother paused, turning to look at me with narrowed eyes.
âWhat was that about?â She asked, throwing her hands
up
in anger.
âI just tried to correct something out there, Mother.â I hissed.
Looking at her, I saw the way she shook her head.
âAsh, this is my diner and I decide what I allow. Do you know who that man is?â
I frowned at her question. I had just forgotten that Josie was engaged but that man couldnât be her fiancé. He looked way too older than her and Josie wasnât even returning his attempt at sitting intimately.
âI donât know who he is.â I spat, attempting to walk past my mother.
She hissed and glowered at me. âThat man is a business mogul. The owner of Chaldeans empire and my biggest customer!â
I guess Iâve heard that name before but why do I feel something about that man isnât
right?
âWell, then. I guess itâs time he stopped coming here.â I said casually but my mother was already throwing a fit.
I cussed and exited the kitchen.
Seriously, I canât stomach her tantrum now.
I decided to stay at the bar and serve drinks but I chose that so I could pin my eyes at Josie and that pervert sitting beside her.
As I stood in the bar, mixing the specials people ordered, I pinned my gaze on Josie. She was smiling now while talking to other men around the table who had a smile on their faces.
When my eyes pinned on Mr. Chaldeans I found him looking at Josieâs tits, licking his lips surreptitiously.
Why do I keep getting this odd feeling about the man? I thought.
I noticed when he silently gestured to one of the guards standing behind them and they spoke with their gazes.
That was when I knew something was wrong.
Quickly, I got out my phone and called Mason, my bounty hunter.
Chapter 34
âYes, alpha?â He said hoarsely.
Without wasting a minute, I ordered. âMason, I need you to investigate the private life of Mr. Chaldeans and get back to me right now! Send me evidence if there are any.â
âAlright, alpha.â He whispered back and hung up the call.
I knew something wasnât right and I was not about to sit back and watch my mate get into trouble.
To be continuedâ¦
