Once Rejected My Alpha Stepbrother Wants Me Back Chapter 8
Once Rejected My Alpha Stepbrother Wants Me Back
Chapter 8
Josieâs POV.
That morning, I didnât waste a single moment on the bed. I knew I had to explain things to my headstrong boss or else, I lose this house. The mortgage I was owning could send me packing. I canât let Aria and I live off the street.
I had to do something.
I went into the kitchen to make some breakfast for Aria and me. I made her lunch which I put in her lunchbox.
Afterward, I went into her room and woke her
She whined, not wanting to get up.
âCome on, baby. Time for school.â I whispered into her ear, tickling her.
âMommyâ¦Iâm tired. I want to sleep some moreâ¦â She murmured.
I took a moment to watch how much she looked like him. Her button nose was so small I felt the urge to pinch them playfully.
But instead, I leaned closer and kissed her nose.
âMy princess, wake up. No late to school.â I whispered, fingering her hair and carrying her over my chest.
The storybook Diego read for her last night slipped down, falling on the floor.
I held my baby and walked into her adjoining bathroom.
She stood shakily on her feet while I ran the bath.
Afterward, I put her in and bathed her.
I prepared her for school and we went down for breakfast.
âWhile uncle come again tonight?â She asked as she overstuffed her mouth with pancakes.
âNo, baby. Heâll be busy.â I told her, pushing her hair away from her face.
âBut I want him to read me stories!â She argued.
âIâd do it.â
She still shook her head, insisting that Diego would be the one to do it for her.
I didnât argue further and she kept quiet.

In between the quietness, she said. âIâm sorry, mommy, I want you to read the story to me.â
My heart warmed at that.
By the time we were almost finishing up, Ms. Beth arrived.
Aria jumped into her nannyâs arms and they left.
I quickly shut the door and put the key below the flower vase beside the door.
I took my leave and got a taxi, heading to the company.
I had been sitting in the lobby since I arrived. Our boss hadnât shown up.
My heart was restless as to what heâd do to me..
Hearing the clomping of feet over the floor, I raised my head and saw the secretary coming over.
She looked at me and sneered. âYou cost the company a previous client, Rose. How could it?â
I swallowed at the allegation and stood up.
âI didnât do that intentionally. It was Mr. Wiston who hadâ¦â
âI wasnât expecting to see you here, Rose.â
My bossâs voice rang out. I veered and saw him stalking close to me.
My mouth opened, wanting to say anything thatâd prove my innocence but nothing came out.
âYou lost your chance to work with us, Rose. This wasnât the first time a client complained about. how you went violent on them.â He stated and I gasped in shock.
That couldnât be true. All the clients I worked with always dropped good reviews about me.
âNo, sir. That must be a mistake somewhere, I believe.â I gushed hastily. âI always return with five- star reviews,â I added.
Mr. Thompson barked a laugh as the secretary stepped forward.
âAre you now saying the boss is lying?â She spewed.
I always knew Dahlia never liked me and that was why she said that.
Of course, I didnât
listen to her and turned to our boss who had started walking away.

Well, just as I was happy, there was someone throwing daggers at me.
Dahlia.
She scoffed when I looked behind and locked eyes with her. But just as quickly, she broke hers away and shut Mr. Thompsonâs door.
âI know you as someone very fluent in this language of a thing. But I wonder your reviews are nothing to write home about.â He began.
I wanted to speak but he shushed me and I bit my tongue.
âBut because of the fact that youâre one of our brightest employees here, Iâll give you another chance at a job.â
âThank you, it. Anything at all.â
sir,â I muttered, wet smiles filling my face. âIâll do
He nodded. Bringing out a file and report sheet which he handed to me.
I was expecting a contract Iâd sign that would determine how this work would be but instead, he said.
âThis new client would be the one to determine how the work would be.â
That was weird but I nodded.
âAnd youâre to report back to us. But as usual, once he pays, you get forty percent of the payment,
Rose.â
Excitement shot through my veins and I surged to my feet energetically.
âThanks so much, sir.â
âYeah, hereâs the companyâs address. Youâll meet with the CEO.â
I politely collected the address and was about to leave when he said.
âOnly his reviews would tell. This is your last chance, Rose.â
Again, I nodded and went outside with a thudding heart.
It was already afternoon and the Sun bit my skin furiously.
I quickly stopped a cab and slipped inside, showing him the address..
While I sat in the car, I tried to browse something online about this new client.

It was already weird that I wasnât given a file that contained his details but the fact that Mr. Thompson gave him the right to determine how weâd work was scaring me.
What if the man turned out to be like Mr. Winston and tried to force himself on me?
By the goddess, itâd be hard to convince Mr. Thompson.
I really hoped heâd be different, from others.
The cab driver stopped in front of the building and I got outside and paid him.
I took in a huge breath as I turned on my heels, making my way into the company.
I stopped at the receptionist and informed her I already had an appointment with the CEO and she asked I wait a little because the CEO was in a meeting.
Nodding, I went to the seats there and sat on one.
That was when I noticed it all.
The restlessness of my wolf.
She was pacing uncontrollably inside me.
âHey, whatâs wrong?â I asked her but she didnât respond.
I could feel her pouncing on her hind legs, snarling.
I didnât understand what the problem is..
How would I go into this office with my eyes flashing wolf?
I shakily got up and went over to the water dispenser by the side. I filled my cup and drank to my brim but I wouldnât.
I kept feeling her whining until I was permitted by the receptionist to go on and meet the CEO.
I hurriedly grabbed my bag and followed the wing side of the hallway I was told.
I paused by the CEOâs door and knocked lightly
The instant I heard the voice from another side, I felt strange chills all over me
I quietly made my way inside.
The man was facing the glassâwalled windows.
I was just about sinking into the seat across from him when he turned his chair around.
As our gazes locked, all the blood in me drained. I knew my face was ashen as I couldnât feel the

flow of blood again.
It couldnât be.
No. This couldnât be happening, I murmured inwardly.
My wolf howled and my eyes flashed as she tried to push forward.
The man across from me shot to his feet as the name left his lips.
âJosie?â
But all that rang in my head was..
Run!
In the blinking seconds, I found myself running away from the office.
âJosie!â His baritone voice boomed but I didnât stop running.
My past had returned to huntâ¦
To be continuedâ¦..
