[Chapter {12}]

The Alpha's Vampire

Callum's POV

I released a deep sigh and glanced at Nathan, he has spaced out once again and it's beginning to be a problem.

I'm beginning to wonder if I did anything wrong during our date last night.

"Nathan," I called for the umpteenth time, he didn't answer so I gave his shoulder a light shove.

"Huh," he was a little bit startled at my touch.

"You spaced out again, are you sure there isn't something wrong," I asked worry lacing my voice.

"Of course not, I'm just a little tired ok," he replied once again brushing off the subject.

Although everyone has the right to feel tired, I suspect that Nathan's problem isn't really tiredness.

For one, he looked deep in thought during the drive to school. Nathan insisted that he picked me up every morning and I can't say I'm complaining, but this is the first time I've seen him so out of it.

He has spaced out like three times since we started making our way to my locker. During the short time I've known him, I gathered that he usually pays attention to anything you say and that is the exact opposite of what is happening right now.

A small smile graces my face when I see Eliza waiting for me at my locker.

"Hey Eli," I greeted with a smile.

"Callum!" she squealed pulling me into a tight hug.

A low growl was heard by the side and I turned to see Nathan glaring at Eliza, oh so now he knows I exist.

I purposely pulled Eliza closer and let my head fall in between the crook of her neck, I inhaled her scent and squeezed her tighter than before.

As expected Nathan did not last for more than a minute because before I knew it, my body was ripped harshly away from Eliza's.

Nathan crossed his arms and glared harshly at me and of course, I returned the favour.

We were snapped out of our glaring contest by Eliza who somehow managed to remain oblivious to everything that just occurred.

"Hey Nathan," she chirped happily her grin stretching from ear to ear.

When Nathan only continued to glare at her, I struck my elbow in his side which released a pained grunt from him. I gave him a 'behave yourself' look and he rolled his eyes at me before proceeding to return Eliza's greeting.

"Hi Eliza, nice to see you," he said with a fake smile plastered on his face. Somehow Eliza refused to catch that and I was extremely thankful for her obliviousness. At least I hoped she was oblivious.

"Nathan and I have somewhere to be Eliza so I'll catch you and the guys at lunch, yeah."

"Sure, see you then," Eliza replied sweetly before skipping off. She must be on a sugar high, that's the only thing that explains her cheery attitude at what, nine in the morning.

I pulled Nathan to an empty classroom, making sure to lock the doors before turning around to glare at him.

"Ok what the hell is wrong with you," I whisper yelled crossing my arms and glaring at him.

He sighed deeply before answering, "nothing ok. Like I told you before, I'm a bit stressed out so I just need to rest."

"We can skip school if you want," I asked softly feeling a bit guilty that I was harsh to him earlier.

"It's ok Cal, I'm sure I can last till closing," he replied tiredly.

I heaved a sigh before smiling and pulling him to one of the seats in the classroom. He really looks stressed so my brilliant self came up with an idea to relieve him of some of it.

I made sure he was sitting comfortably before letting my hand crawl up his shoulders. Yes, I'm about to give Nathan a massage but in my defense, that's the only stress reliever I could think of.

I used to massage my mom a lot whenever she came back stressed and tired from having to deal with our clan's council.

I let my fingers work the way they used to back then and smiled widely when I heard a grunt of approval from Nathan.

I massaged his shoulder blades and his back, and when I was sure they were tension free, I began to move my hands sensually over his back and shoulders.

Nathan groaned deeply and leaned into my touch and I couldn't help but smile at how how hot it is when he's all putty in my arms.

"You know, if you don't stop now, I might just take you here," Nathan said huskily his eyes shut tight.

"And why is that," I asked innocently, still running my hands over his back.

"Callum, have you ever heard of the full moon," Nathan asked his eyes still shut.

"No I haven't," I replied curiously.

"Well you see, this is the time when werewolves senses are heightened and on the edge. Due to that, our sexual frustration is usually on the high," Nathan explained although I was still confused.

"What does that have to do with anything," I replied letting my confusion show.

Nathan abruptly turned to face me and before I could blink, his arms had gone around my waist pulling me down to sit on his lap.

"It means that, I wouldn't be able to control myself around you. So Callum, I'd advice you watch what you do to me," Nathan growled lowly shivers running down my spine from the contact his lips had with my ear.

I turned around to face him and my eyes widened at the specks of yellow surrounding his hazel eyes.

We continued to stare at each other for who knows how long until the shrill sound of the bell snapped us from our trance.

"I'll see you after school Nathan," I squeaked before making my embarrassing exit out of the room. I really need to carry out a research on this full moon thing I thought to myself before making my way to my first period.

Nathan's POV

I had read the letter immediately I got home from my date with Callum. Infact, I had read it about five times but I still couldn't give meaning to it.

The letter had repeated the same warning as earlier before.

Callum is ours, so stay away from him.

It had gone further to lay out the consequences that I'll face if I don't leave him alone. I've been trying to think of a solution and with the full moon coming, my brain has been a little fuzzy.

I feel bad for lying to Callum but I still don't want to worry him. I'm his mate so I should be able to handle matters like this without crawling to him.

Sadly, I don't have connections to any vampire so it'll be impossible for me to find a solution alone. I'll need a lot of drilling on the practices of vampires so I'll know where to start from.

Asking Callum is out of the question so I plan to subtly get answers out of his mom. Callum doesn't know yet that we'd be going to his house after school so I'll text him.

I'd try to gather as much information as I can while I'm over at his house because a certain feeling in my gut tells me that I don't have much time.

I need to know how I can have a one on one meeting with those pesky vampires so we can settle this. I've mentioned it before but I'll say it again anyways, Nathan's mine and I very well plan on keeping him.

Those vampires will realize that when I pay their clan a visit. I know this sounds like an outrageous idea, but it's the only one I've got.

Besides, vampires don't scare me, those blood sucking demons (no offense Callum) have another thing coming if they think that I'm scared of them.

Although my plan has a lot of loopholes and dare I say it looks stupid, I'll still do anything for Callum.

I wasn't the best mate to him in the beginning so I plan on keeping my promise of being the best mate there is.

I must figure out a way to get to their clan so we can settle this once and for all.

Third persons POV

There she sat beautiful and mighty as always. Most people wished to be her or at least be with her but she had her eye for only one person.

She's never cared about feelings and she isn't starting now. All that interests her is power and she'd get it wherever she's able to find it.

"Wolf boy doesn't know who he's dealing with does he," she asked the person before her.

You could either call them a messenger or a spy but I think power hungry suits them more. Like the queen, they only care for power. That's why the Queen chose them to carry out her dirty work, they shared similar interests.

"No he doesn't my Queen," they replied smirking at how unsuspecting their victims were.

"It's a pity, he's making destroying him easier than I anticipated," the Queen replied laughing, if you could call it that. I think the best way to describe her show of amusement is cackling, that suits her more.

"What are your orders my Queen," they asked liking how trusting the Queen was becoming, to them.

The Queen didn't really care who she used so that is a mistake on their part. When she has no use for you, she'd dump you amongst the ones she used in the past, she's evil like that.

"Continue to tag along with him and wolf boy, get any information you can. If you don't fail me then very well expect a reward."

"Thank you my Queen, you can be rest assured that I won't fail you," they replied before bowing generously to the Queen. The Queen flicked her hands dismissing them.

Wolf boy has no idea who he's up against, I'd snap him the moment I lay my eyes on him.

Callum and the power that comes with him will be mine, I'd make sure of that.
