[Chapter {26}]
The Alpha's Vampire
Callum's POV
"Baby, are you ready?" Nathan asked from the other side of the door. I had intended to reply a 'yes', but of course, Nathan had to see for himself. Plot twist, I am infact, not ready, and I'm freaking the hell out.
"What the....you're not dressed?" He confusedly stepped into the room. His eyes, scanned the hurricane-aftermath looking room.
"The vampires are here, your mom got them to come, as promised," he informed me, deciding to ignore the mess surrounding us.
"Great," was my dry reply which had Nathan furrowing his eyebrows.
"We have to get on with the ceremony then. The vampires have to be back in their clan before sunrise. It's almost six, our coronation starts in the next twenty five minutes," he looked at his watch, "scratch that, twenty four minutes, you've got to hurry."
"Copy," I gave him a thumbs up to accompany my reply.
"I don't understand, Callum, why the one worded replies. Don't you want to this, I'll call of the ceremony if you don't. I thought I told you to inform me if you had any doubts."
I felt bad for putting Nathan in misery. One thing was certain though, I wanted this coronation. But sprinkle a little bit of anxiety, nerves and my churning breakfast, you'll have a disorganized me sitting in a pile of discarded items.
"It's not you Nathan, and I really do want this ceremony," I assured him fiddling with my fingers so I didn't have to meet his eyes.
"There's an unspoken 'but', what is it? If you don't tell me, I wouldn't know how to fix it," he spoke softly breaking my resolve.
I poured out how I was feeling to him, "I'm nervous Nate, what if your people don't like me. What if I mess this up, I don't think I'm worthy of ruling by your side," I sniffled feeling my emotions beginning to crack through the boundary I set around them.
"Oh Callum, why didn't you tell me you were nervous," he asked pulling me into his chest.
"I didn't want you to worry about me. Besides I'm not a child, I can take care of myself," I huffed in his arms making him chuckle, the vibrations from his chest caused goosebumps to litters around my skin.
"Well look where that led you," he teased and I leaned back to slap his sturdy chest lightly.
"For real though, every single member of my pack adores you, how can you not see that by now."
"Low self-esteem, I guess?" It was meant to be a joke, but sadly, it didn't draw any laugh from Nathan.
"I don't like it when you look down on yourself Callum. Your going to rule by my side because you're damn well worthy of it. There's going to be no ruining of any sort, so get those scandalous scenarios out of your head," he ordered flicking my forehead lightly.
"Ow," I grumbled half in pain, the other half of me was occupied by relief. What would I do without Nathan by my side, I wonder why the hell I had even started second guessing. Nathan was my all, I would be by his side for ever, even if it kills me which, hopefully it doesn't.
"You're not still nervous are you?" He asked in concern. I gave him a reassuring smile to show him that I was fine.
"I'm going to get dressed okay. I'll be down in fifteen minutes," I said pushing him in the direction of my door.
"Can't you go any faster than fifteen minutes," he asked from over his shoulder.
"Nope, a guy needs his beauty bath, mostly if it is on his coronation day."
"You'd keep them waiting, vampires and werewolves aren't exactly great at that," he stated. He had a fair point, if they are left for long without entertainment, they would find entertainment in ripping each other apart.
"Stall the ceremony for a little bit longer okay. I'd meet you in the hall," I instructed, giving him irresistible puppy dog eyes so he wouldn't dare refuse.
"Fine!" He whined just as I pushed him through the door.
"I love you," I called but the only reply I got, were a series of half-hearted curses.
I pushed aside the light fear still lingering in the back of my mind, and made my way to my bathroom. Knowing Nathan can't stall them for long no matter what, I had a ten minutes shower before stepping out.
My coronation clothes had been picked out since last week, so that wasn't a problem. After I was in my clothes, I went to stand in front of the mirror scrutinizing my reflection. A few tweaks on my face and my outfit here and there, and I was done.
I rushed out of the room, just in time to stop a vampire from making Nathan his next meal.
"Hey, get off him," I cried zooming past the vampire, to grab Nathan from his hold.
"Are you okay, did he hurt you," I asked turning his neck to check for injuries.
"I'm fine," he drawled pulling my hands from his face, "but they're not."
Nathan was right, for once werewolves and vampires seemed to agree on one thing, and that was the fact that we were wasting their precious time.
"Quiet down everyone," I called trying to get the attention of my delightful audience. Infact, delightful can't even begin to describe their rage.
Despite my request, none of them were listening. They all had their fists in the air, chanting one rubbish or another. One vampire even had the guts to shout, we want blood. Can you imagine that?
Nathan looked at me in fright, and I knew I had to get them to shot up before they began a full blown riot. You know, my mom always said the best way to control beings like us, is with an iron fist. Not literally of course.
"Shut the hell up before I disintegrate all of you," I yelled already glowing. They all seemed surprised at my outburst âNathan inclusiveâ but eventually quietened down after glancing at me. Ever since the news of me defeating their queen spread across the clan, they all have been somewhat civil to me, mostly because they don't want to end up like Matilda.
My mom saw no need in lying about who killed our clans evil queen. I didn't see the need for anyone to doubt my mom's ability as a ruler, after all, she was my mentor in the first place. Without her help, there's no way I could have stood a chance against Matilda.
I could spot her along with Nathan's parents, and the rest of our friends apart from the human ones, in the VIP session of the area we were using.
"I'm sorry for the delay, but your future Luna had to look his best. How else is he supposed to seduce his alpha," I winked at their astonished faces, ignoring Nathan's loud intake of breath. I did a little twirl in my pink suit âyes, we opted for suits, don't judgeâ then bowed. I turned to signal the pack rulers, that it was time, not missing my mom's proud smile.
I stepped back a little as Damon walked up to the elevated platform we were currently standing on.
"Werewolves and vampires in one place, who would have thought," he drawled grudgingly still unhappy about the fact that we brought vampires to his pack, technically Nathan's pack now.
They were murmurs at his statement, but he raised his hand to silence them.
"We have gathered to witness the coronation of my son's mate, Callum. This day also marks the day Nathan gets his full rights as the pack's alpha. Callum has already been with us for a while, and I've seen you people grow accustomed to him, I hope that wouldn't change after this. Handing the baton to my son makes me a proud father, and as a proud father, I'd sit back and watch my son and his mate, push our pack to greater heights. With that being said, I call on my wife Veronica to do the crowning," he finished. Damon turned and gave Nathan and I a nod, before going to stand at the side.
I glanced at Nathan to see that he had a blank expression on his face, despite his eyes looking slightly glazed.
"What's wrong?" I whispered, nudging him in his sides with my elbow.
"Nothing."
"Well then, can I know what the nothing is?" I asked. He turned to frown at me, but I quivered my bottom lip, and watched sadistically as he caved.
"Just thinking about the responsibility I have as a full-time pack alpha. I could easily mess this up," he shrugged. I had to resist flicking his forehead.
"For one, you'll be the best alpha in the history of the Moonglow pack. Second of all, you've got a Luna now, so there's nothing to worry about."
At me calling myself his Luna, Nathan released a small smile. Determined to get him to smile completely, I went on.
"And can you guess what your Luna has install for you after this ceremony," I whispered making sure my voice sounded sensual.
"What," he whispered sensing my mood.
"A lap dance," I continued and as expected, Nathan spiraled into series of uncontrollable laughter. Even I joined in at the sound of his contagious laughter.
"I'm definitely taking you up on that offer," he spoke, in between chuckles. I winked suggestively, and he burst out laughing again.
Someone cleared their throat, and we turned to see that Veronica was standing in front of us, a sly smile on her face.
"Sorry to interrupt, but I still have to lay the crown on Callum," she said pointing at the werewolf skull in her hand. It had been painted blood red and gold, multiple artworks and designs, running through it's frame. It looked magical, but that didn't change the fact that it was a werewolves skull, at least not to me.
"Can't we skip that part, I really don't want to wear that," I whined. Veronica looked astonished.
"This is the skull of the fist alpha to ever rule this pack, how can you not want it on your head," she asked incredulously.
"That werewolf history, just makes it all the more unappealing," I shuddered barely able to imagine it on my head.
"So you'll let a crown stop you from being my Luna," Nathan asked faking a hurt expression.
I huff exasperatedly, "fine, lay it on me."
Veronica gave me a blinding smile at my request.
"With the power vested in me as the Luna of the Moonglow Pack, I hereby make Callum Valik Bloodway, the Luna of this pack," she announced and with that, she placed the crown on my head.
The crowd went wild, both the VIP session, and the people who had given us the opportunity to rule over them, because despite everything, they still had my back. Werewolves and vampires were learning to live in peace, and I'll use this opportunity as Luna, to make it happen. They had my back, and so I had theirs. I was officially calling an end to our life long feud.
Momentarily forgetting about the crown on my head, I jumped into Nathan's open hands, letting him spin me, both of us giggling foolishly.
"My Luna," he teased with a bow, after putting me down.
"My alpha," I whispered seductively, pulling him down by his gold coloured suit, into a meaningful kiss.
One that held promises for our future.
Nathan could feel it's intensity, and so could I.
Side by side we'd rule.
As long as we have each other, we're sure to stand.
The End
