Chapter 106
Chasing His Runaway Wife
When Tabitha opened her eyes, she saw Malcolm sitting by the bedside in a white antiâbacterial suit.
His face was covered with stubble, his lips were cracked, and his hair was disheveled, looking somewhat scruffy.
Tabitha had never seen him in such a miserable state. It seemed that he had not properly washed up well for days.
But then she thought of something and put her hand slowly on her belly, her eyes vacant.
Malcolm said with a face of surprise and joy, âTabitha, you are finally awake! How are you feeling right now?â
Tabitha looked at him calmly and said, âMy tummy hurts a little bit.â
She was in poor health. Although she had been lying there for three days, she still felt cold and sharp pains in her stomach. However, she was too tired to even furrow a brow. Her voice also became hoarse.
Malcolm froze.
Before the miscarriage, Tabitha had been impatient with him to the extent that she almost fought with him. He was surprised to see that she had become gentle after waking up.
He asked tentatively, âIs it very painful? Shall I call Dr. Tomlinson to take a look?â
âSure. Thank you,â Tabitha replied.
A faint smile curved Tabithaâs mouth. Although her smile was faint, Malcolm still noticed it. His fingertips trembled. He did not know what he was afraid of. Subconsciously, he stood up and said, âIâll go call Dr.
Tomlinson.â
His injuries were more severe than before. He walked very slowly. Coupled with the large antiâbacterial suit, he looked discomfited and ridiculous.
Chapter 1on Tabitha lay in bed quietly. When she saw the scene out of the corner of her eye, she did not even dare to blink.
She closed her eyes to resist the twisting pain in her stomach.
She was really in pain.
Since marrying Malcolm, she had received nothing but his apathy, coldness, and reproach.
But when she found she was pregnant, she was grateful for the arrival of the baby.
If she had to endure the cruelty in order to live a good life, she would do that.
But why was life so cruel to her?
She had already lost her parents and grandfather. Why did it take away her baby, too?
All her perseverance now seemed like a joke.
Therefore, she decided to let go.
Apart from letting go of Naomi, she did not want to fight for anything anymore.
Malcolm called Dylan, but Tabitha was still lying in bed quietly and let Dylan examine her.
Whatever question Dylan asked her, she would answer calmly and react like a normal person.
However, Malcolm somehow felt something was off with Tabitha.
But he couldnât figure it out at the moment, so he had no choice but to rein back his curiosity and wait for Dylan to finish his examination conscientiously.
After Dylan finished the examination, he said to Malcolm with a smile, âCongratulations. Mrs. Sinclairâs body functions are slowly recovering. She can be transferred back to the general ward in two days.â
He added, âHowever, Mrs. Sinclair is still very weak. She must take good care of herself. There can be no more mistakes.â
Malcolm thanked Dylan repeatedly.
When Emmanuel learned that Tabitha had awakened, the tension in hist body finally relaxed.
âThankfully, she is all right.
âThe worst is over. Itâs time to take care of that sucker,â thought Emmanuel.
He went up to the hospital rooftop and gave Naomi a call, saying, âMeet me at the top floor.â
Naomi had been keeping an eye on Tabithaâs situation. Knowing the latter had awakened, she received Emmanuelâs call before she could come out of regret and anger.
Listening to his emotionless tone, Naomi felt a little scared, then bit the bullet and went to the rooftop.
Emmanuel was standing on the edge of the rooftop with his back to her.
Beside him stood a man in a black suit whom Naomi had seen before. His name was Douglas Lynch.
He was Emmanuelâs trusted subordinate, and his methods were ruthless and brutal.
Naomi called out lowly, âMr. Sinclair.â
Emmanuel looked back at her and said, âCome here.â
Naomi walked toward him with trepidation.
Emmanuel reached out and made a sign. Suddenly, Douglas stretched out his hand and grabbed Naomiâs neck forcefully, then pressed her against the railing beside the rooftop.
Naomi was out of spirits. âMr. Sinclair, what did I do wrong?â she asked frightenedly.
Emmanuel turned to look at her indifferently and said, âYou like to throw yourself down the stairs so much. Iâll let you experience the feeling of falling from a great height today. How about that?â
Hearing Emmanuelâs calm and gentle tone, Naomi felt a chill rushing from the bottom of his feet to the top of his head. Her voice even changed in horror.
She tried to fathom the meaning of Emmanuelâs words, saying, âMr. Sinclair, I have no choice. I swear to you. I really didnât touch Tabitha when I fell down the stairs⦠Her miscarriage has nothing to do with me.â
âIt doesnât matter whether you have touched her or not.ââEmmanuel gently touched the glove on his left little finger with his right hand and tilted his head, his tone lazy but dangerous. âWhat matters is that I donât tolerate disobedient people, especially women who like to act on their own initiative.â
As soon as he raised his hand, Douglas grabbed her neck even harder. Naomi felt like she was going to crumble. Frightened, she hastily made an excuse.
âMr. Sinclair, I consulted you about this. Are you mad because you feel sad about Tabithaâs miscarriage? Youâve been planning for so many years with hardship. Are you going to give up everything for a woman?â Naomi asked.
âHow dare you!â Emmanuel narrowed his eyes menacingly. âHow dare you take the liberty of speculating on my intentions? Do you want to die because you think the world is bad?â
