Chapter 17
Chasing His Runaway Wife
Seeing that Malcolm was absent-minded, Naomi felt a bit anxious.
She wiped her tears, picked up the beautifully wrapped flowers beside her, and exclaimed in surprise, âThese tulips are beautiful. Thank you.â
Malcolm replied absently, âIâm glad you like them.â
Naomi sniffed the flowers, attempting to divert Malcolmâs attention to herself. âItâs so cold out there, and you still managed to get such nice tulips. They must not be cheap, huh? Malcolm, youâre so kind to me.â
Tulips usually bloomed in spring, but the ones in Malcolmâs garden thrived all year round.
Malcolm was preoccupied and replied offhandedly, âThey were from my garden.â
âFrom his garden?â Naomi frowned slightly as she mused. She remembered what George had praised when she went to the Sinclair residence for the first time.
âThe tulip garden is incredibly beautiful. Mrs. Sinclair has done a great job taking care of them,â George complimented.
âArenât they planted by Tabitha?â she wondered.
Thinking of this, Naomi tentatively asked, âThey look so good. Who planted them?â
âI donât know,â Malcolm answered.
He did not care about the chores in the mansion.
Malcolm responded to Naomiâs query, but his mind was no longer with her.
It was Naomi who had been crying, but Tabithaâs tearful eyes kept appearing in his mind.
M He suddenly could not sit still. Seeing that Naomi was fine, he stood up and said, âI still have something to deal with in the company. Iâll come to visit you next time.â
Seeing this, Naomi eagerly pulled him and pleaded, âMalcolm, thereâs not rush. Iâve made soup. Stay and have dinner with me today, okay?â
As Malcolm looked at her melancholy eyes, those words of refusal got stuck in his throat.
With much patience, he stopped in his tracks. âOkay.â
Naomi smiled through tears. Seeing the handsome man serving her soup, she could not resist grabbing her phone and taking a picture of the scene and the tulips.
Then she smiled and clicked the âsendâ button.
In the hospital, Tabitha was going through the discharge formalities.
She did not want to make Alaric worry, nor did she want Malcolm to go against his conscience by continually going to her. Therefore, she completed the discharge procedures on the same day.
The doctor said that she just needed to be careful not to touch cold water and that she did not need to get hospitalized.
Before she got home, she received a text message from an unfamiliar number.
[The flowers you planted are very beautiful. I like them very much. Thank you.]
In the photo, a bunch of tulips was in full bloom.
On the right side of the photo, there was another familiar figure serving soup from a delicate small pot.
Tabithaâs eyes tingled instantaneously..
She took a deep breath and went home with a sullen face.
When she got home, she went straight to the garden and found a lot of tulips were indeed missing.
She immediately called George over. âWhy are so many flowers missing?â
George was stunned and replied, âMrs. Sinclair, Mr. Sinclair came home. just now and cut a bunch of flowers. I thought he sent them to the hospital for youâ¦â
At that moment, George had intended to tell Malcolm that Tabitha had an allergy and should not be exposed to the fragrance of flowers during her stay in the hospital.
Tabitha felt as if a bucket of cold water was poured over her head, her fingernails digging deep into her palm.
âHow dare Malcolm cut off my carefully cultivated tulips just to please Naomi? How could he use the flowers I planted to please that woman? Heâs gone too far, Tabitha thought with gritted teeth.
In an instant, Tabithaâs allergy appeared to worsen. Gazing at the flowers. in full bloom in the yard, she almost could not breathe.
She clutched her chest, calmed herself down, and spoke calmly. âGeorge, go and get some men to raze this garden.â
George was surprised. âBut Mrs. Sinclair, you spent a lot of effort planting them.â
âIndeed. I spent a lot of effort planting them. I spent more than that to please him,â Tabitha thought.
She thought Malcolm liked tulips, so she overlooked her allergies and wanted to plant a garden of fragrant flowers for him.
âBut what do I get in the end?â she asked herself bitterly.
Malcolm gave her token of affection to Naomi and trampled on her JM MI GBG BBW genuineness.
IN IN As if laughing at herself for being silly, Tabitha smiled and said in a flat voice, âIâm allergic to these flowers⦠The doctor told me to rest well, so I better get them removed.â
She smiled, and her voice was as gentle as a breeze, yet somehow George felt a twinge of sadness in his heart.
âThatâs right. Letâs get rid of them. Mrs. Sinclair, you should think about your health first,â George said.
Tabitha watched the once well-maintained garden slowly becoming barren, and her heart gradually felt calm.
It was already past nine when Malcolm returned to the Sinclair residence.
As he passed the garden, he accidentally noticed that the once vibrant sea of tulip flowers had become bare.
Malcolm frowned and called George over and asked, âWhatâs going on?â
George said, âIt was Mrs. Sinclairâs order.â
Malcolm was slightly stunned. âIs she discharged from the hospital?â
George explained, âYes, Mrs. Sinclair returned in the evening. She has at pollen allergy. Since these flowers are in full bloom and can make her uncomfortable, she ordered us to shovel them off.â
âAfter two years of marriage, why didnât I ever know she has a pollen allergy?â he wondered.
