Chapter 19
Chasing His Runaway Wife
Early the next morning, Malcolm went downstairs to find Tabitha sitting at the dining table with an empty plate and half a glass of milk.
She was reading a book, her long eyelashes hanging down, casting a shadow under her eyelids.
The rising sun outside the floor-to-ceiling window flooded in, casting a faint layer of light on her body, as if she would melt into the warmth the next moment.
Malcolm frowned slightly, inexplicably disliking the feeling he was having now.
George passed by and whispered in Malcolmâs ear, âYou might as well explain what happened last night. Mrs. Sinclair is good-natured. If she knows that you didnât mean to offend her, she wonât keep holding the grudge against you.â
Malcolm stiffened slightly.
He always acted swiftly and decisively and never bowed his head to anyone, let alone humbled himself to coax women.
However, even if he didnât like Tabitha, he had to admit that he was at fault for sending the flowers to Naomi.
âOkay,â he responded faintly, walked over, and sat down in front of Tabitha.
Tabitha didnât even look up, as if she hadnât seen him.
Malcolm suppressed his mixed emotions, looked at her, and said slowly, âWhat happened last night-â
Before he could finish, Tabitha suddenly got up, drank the remaining half glass of milk, and left the dining table with her book.
Malcolm was frozen in place, and he struggled to describe his feelings at MMM B B B B B that moment.
I In the past, Tabitha would always wait for him to have breakfast with a smile on her face.
He subconsciously called out, âTabitha.â
Jan 17:03 Tabitha stopped and turned to look at him indifferently. Her clear hazel eyes were emotionless.
âIf youâre asking me the question last night, I will still give the same answer. I shoveled the flowers.
Whatever you think,â she said.
Tabithaâs cold gaze silenced whatever Malcolm was about to say.
Just then, the phone rang. It was Saul.
âMr. Malcolm Sinclair, Mr. Alaric Sinclair has come over and is waiting for you in the company,â Saul informed.
Alaric had been neglecting the companyâs matters for quite some time. It might not be a good sign that he showed up early in the morning and waited for Malcolm.
Subconsciously, Malcolm felt that Tabitha had gone to Alaric again to talk about the flowers.
But thinking that he had misunderstood her, Malcolm held back his temper.
âIâll be right there.â Malcolm hung up the phone only to find that Tabitha was no longer around.
The feeling of being ignored overwhelmed Malcolm. Suppressing his displeasure, he hurried to the company.
In the office, Alaric was seated in the bossâ chair with a walking cane.
âYouâre here?â Alaric greeted Malcolm.
âGrandpa, why did you come to the company to see me so early?â
MM MI BB BBB Malcolm asked.
133% 17:03 âI have something to talk to you about,â Alaric stated, looking at Malcolm, his cloudy eyes still dignified.
âMalcolm, Iâve entrusted the company to you for many years. Itâs time for me to come to check on the results.â
Malcolmâs heart skipped a beat.
Alaric spoke with eloquence, every word resonating with strength. âNaomiâs pregnancy is not entirely out of the question. However, the condition is that you must prioritize Tabbyâs safety.â
Malcolm speculated that Alaric knew Tabitha was injured because she went to see Naomi.
Alaric continued, âI donât want Tabby to get hurt again. Send a message to that woman. If something happens to Tabbyâs baby, she canât give birth too.â
Malcolm instinctively wanted to explain, âGrandpa, you misunderstood. What happened at Four Seasons Bar that day was just an accident-â
Alaric interrupted, âIâm sure your assistant will soon find out if it was an accident. You insist on keeping those dubious people. I donât mind, nor do I want to intervene in what you do behind my back.
However, refrain from bringing that woman home in the future to cause distress for Tabby.â
Malcolmâs expression changed slightly. He knew something was amiss that night and had already dispatched someone to investigate the bar.
âDoes Grandpa know anything about it? Why does he think it has to do with Naomi?â he wondered.
Malcolm called Saul in as soon as Alaric left and asked, âAny progress on the matter regarding Four Seasons Bar?â
âYes,â Saul replied.
Saul had been working for Malcolm for years, and his ability to do things. was first-rate. It was easy for him to find a strange clue.
ct MM MID ANN 33% 17:03 âThe knocked-down wine rack was recently purchased by Four Seasons. Bar and reportedly originated from a second-hand store,â Saul explained the clue he found during the investigation.
âAn upscale nightclub shopping for second-hand goods and even placing it in the most noticeable lobby of the nightclub? Thereâs something unusual about all of this, Malcolm contemplated.
Malcolm tapped his slender fingers on the desk and said in a cold voice, âYouâve been searching for two days. Is that all you got?â
âSince there was a problem with the origin of the wine rack, we shall investigate the boss over there, look into the deliveryman, and examine the wine rack installer, Malcolm thought.
Saul gulped and mustered up his courage to say, âMr. Sinclair, it seems that this matter has something to do with Ms. Boyle.â
Malcolmâs eyes suddenly darkened. He ordered, âMake it clear.â
âThe drunkard who attacked Mrs. Sinclair that day was the installer of the wine rack. The installer received 10,000 dollars a week ago. And the wire account belongs to a woman named Sylvie Zimmerman. Sylvie is a high school friend of Ms. Boyleâs,â Saul elaborated.
In just a few words, the message was earth-shattering.
Saul was afraid that this matter had too much to do with Naomi, so he didnât dare to continue his investigation.
Malcolmâs expression changed slightly and snapped, âWhatever you do, find these two people first!â
âYes sir!â
