Chapter 28
Chasing His Runaway Wife
Malcolm had come out in search of Tabitha. As a married couple, they had to behave more affectionately on such occasions and shouldnât stay apart for too long.
Although Alaric didnât attend the gala, his informants were undoubtedly at the venue, and Malcolm didnât wish to incur Alaricâs anger over such a trivial matter.
He didnât anticipate that upon stepping outside, he would witness Tabitha gripping Naomiâs wrist, engaging in what appeared to be an argument.
Malcolm strode over and asked, âWhatâs going on?â
Naomi first glanced at Tabitha before putting on an expression of distress. as she explained, âItâs nothing. My ring accidentally slipped into the pool. It has nothing to do with Ms. Jarvis.â
While verbally dismissing it as nothing, she wore an expression that seemed to hold unspoken words.
Her eyes even turned red, suggesting otherwise.
âSuch poor performance truly makes her facial expression look so unpleasant, Tabitha sneered inwardly. âSadly, all men seem to fall for such an act.â
Sure enough, Malcolmâs blue eyes darkened, and he looked at Tabitha while frowning. âDid you throw Naomiâs ring away?â
He couldnât help but wonder, âI saw Tabitha grabbing Naomiâs wrist just now. Was she trying to grab the ring? Is she upset that Naomi has a ring, so she decided to throw it into the pool?â
âIt wasnât me,â said Tabitha. Her pupils contracted slightly as she suppressed her anger before she continued speaking, âIâm afraid that touching something worn by a dirty person might cause sores on my X NNO 98% 14:28 hands.â
Malcolmâs face darkened and his eyes were scarily cold.
Tabitha was extremely sharp, constantly prepared to wield words like knives.
âTabitha, it was thoughtless of me to give her a ring, but why do you have to hold grudges over her when you have so much beautiful jewelry?â said Malcolm. Tabitha and Naomiâs faces turned gloomy as soon as he finished speaking.
Naomi gritted her teeth, and her eyes turned red with anger. She suddenly rushed toward the edge of the swimming pool, pretending to jump into it.
Malcolm quickly grabbed her and asked, âWhat are you doing?â
âThe ring might not be worth anything to Ms. Jarvis, but itâs incredibly precious to me as you personally gave it to me. I must find it!â cried Naomi, looking increasingly fragile and pitiful. âMalcolm, donât stop me! I have to find the ring!â
Malcolm was in a dilemma as he said, âTake it easy. Iâll have someone come over and handle it.â
Witnessing the dramatic scene between the duo, Tabitha sneered and said, âHereâs a friendly reminder.
This swimming pool is reserved for VIPS and not for the casual use of irrelevant people. Ms. Boyle, you should understand basic manners even if youâre unfamiliar with the rules. Please refrain from entering the pool as it could pollute the water. Itâs a minor inconvenience for the staff to replace the water, but risking other guests. falling ill wouldnât be ideal.â
Naomi stared at Tabitha in disbelief, thinking, âHow dare this old hag who no one wants call me contagious?â
She longed to confront Tabitha and silence her scathing mouth. However, WPPD Σ DNN ses 14:28 she dared not erupt with Malcolm around. Instead, she lowered her head, appearing to have endured immense injustice.
Malcolmâs expression tensed, and his blue eyes turned cold and unfathomable. His emotions ran wild as he thought, âHow can such a slim and delicate girl, who outwardly seemed as obedient as a lily, have such a sharp and cunning tongue?â
âTabitha, thatâs enough!â yelled Malcolm.
Although they were in a public setting, his patience had its bounds.
Meeting Malcolmâs blue eyes, the smoldering anger in Tabithaâs heart gradually bubbled up.
She clenched her fists, and her hazel eyes became icy cold. âDo you intend to pick a fight here?â she asked. âOnce the other guests arrive, it will be a perfect opportunity to entertain them with the spectacle of met confronting my husband and his mistress. Interested in giving it a shot?â
Malcolm completely lost his patience, and his expression suddenly turned cold as he spoke. âIf youâre the one who threw the ring, then youâve also contaminated the swimming pool. You should find a way to retrieve the ring.â
He possessed striking and profound facial features, yet his eyes were cold as if veiled in frost and snow.
He had always harbored resentment toward her and consistently favored Naomi, regardless of the circumstances.
Although Tabitha had long accepted this fact, she still felt waves of heart- chilling emotions.
Almost spontaneously, she refuted, âSo, you do know that the ring is tainted?â
MP PD NN 90% 14:28 Malcolm, accustomed to a high position for a long time, was used to subordinates who viewed him with nothing but awe. Hence, he had never experienced someone challenging him with words that might jeopardize their standing.
Besides, he was not adept at arguing. Feeling a mix of frustration and. helplessness, he could only try to stop her with a firm snap. âTabitha!â
Refusing to concede, Tabitha asked, âAre you certain I was the one who discarded her ring?â
Malcolm tightly pursed his mouth and refuted, âAre you telling me that Naomi threw it herself?â
Tabitha cast a deep gaze at him before suddenly letting out a silent. chuckle.
As a man who wielded significant authority within the company leader.
Malcolm shouldâve been putting effort into becoming a good strategist and leader. Instead, he was embroiled in heated disputes with her over his mistress.
âThis is ridiculous!â thought Tabitha.
She felt a pang of sadness and numbness in her heart, but she refused to show any hint of weakness.
Step by step, she approached Malcolm and said, âFine, Iâm the one who threw the ring. What does it matter? Do you want me to jump down and retrieve it for you?â
