Chapter 67
Chasing His Runaway Wife
As soon as he approached. Malcolm heard Emmanuel say. âThis is the seedling of Natal lily. Try to plant a small plot of them first to see if itâs difficult to nurture.
Tabitha accepted the light blue plastic bag he handed over, which contained dozens of seedlings.
Thank you.
Emmanuel smiled. Youâre welcome.â
Tabitha.â Malcolm suddenly called her. The doctor said you should try not to stay outdoors during this period. Go back inside first.â
âYouâre back?â Tabitha paused and looked at him.
Tabitha had been embarrassed to face Malcolm because of the drunken incident.
These days, she felt that Malcolm was not as indifferent as before and seemed to have little contact with Naomi.
However, now she knew. It was not that Malcolm did not contact Naomi. but Tabitha was just unaware of it.
Tabithaâs heart suddenly became calm, and she smiled with no emotion.
Old habits die hard after all.
She greeted him faintly, spoke to Emmanuel, and turned to leave the garden.
This womanâs attitude toward Malcolm was at least 100 times worse than that toward Emmanuel.
The atmosphere around Malcolm was a little heavy. Emmanuel came over and patted him on the shoulder with a smile. âMalcolm, you donât seem to be in a good mood?â
i CS & NO Malcolm gave him a blank stare.
âWhy are you staring at me?â Emmanuel shrugged innocently and said, âI didnât make her angry. We were chatting just fine earlier.â
Malcolm did not want to listen to Emmanuelâs provocation anymore and strode forward to catch up with Tabitha.
Tabitha was much better now, but she still walked very slowly..
She held the tiny houseleek in her right hand and a bag of seedlings in her left. Her expression was quite mild.
Malcolm called, âTabitha.â
Tabitha heard someone calling her and reflexively turned her head. Malcolm quickly walked up to her.
âI remember I once told you that Emmanuel is not a simple person. You should stay away from him,â he said.
âOh,â Tabitha asked casually, âThen tell me. What could he want from me?â
She thought, Iâm a married woman, pregnant, and donât have much money or power. What does Emmanuel want from deliberately approaching me?â
Malcolmâs eyes fell on the houseleek in Tabithaâs hand. The green reflected on the back of her hand, and there was a kind of peaceful beauty.
He speculated that Emmanuel wanted her because of her beauty..
âI wonât hurt you.â Malcolm rubbed his eyebrows and said, âIf he gives you something, you must be careful.â
âItâs just a pot of ordinary succulents. It doesnât even cost 20 dollars.â Tabitha said, âThis is better than you giving that woman a house.â
d M M NN 91% 15:04 Malcolm looked at Tabithaâs cold face and could not help but frown. âTabitha, Iâm just caring about you.
Stop using this as an excuse to hold forth.â
âIâm just telling the truth, too.â Tabitha hugged the houseleek and said. coldly, âIf you donât like to listen to this, good. I donât want to talk about it anymore.â
Malcolm did not want to quarrel with Tabitha. Every time they did, he would lose, and they would also separate unhappily after each time.
He turned around and went back to his room with a sullen face.
Tabitha watched him walk away and lowered her eyes slightly.
Recently, Malcolmâs attitude toward her had obviously improved, and he admitted her child in front of Alaric. She was not only full of vigilance but also had a hint of expectation in her heart.
However, she soon came back to her senses. As long as Naomi existed, there would be no way for them to coexist peacefully.
That nightâs meal, Tabitha ate seriously throughout the dinner and did not talk to Malcolm at all.
Emmanuel, an outsider, felt the tense atmosphere between the married couple. Naturally, he did not say anything and was about to leave after dinner.
Alaric stopped him, âPlay chess with me before you go.â
Emmanuel could not refuse Alaricâs request.
Alaric suddenly said, âYouâre getting along well with Tabby.â
Emmanuel paused and smiled calmly. âI just think she has a lot in common with Mother, so I usually talk more to her when we meet.â
DNN 7 91% 15:05 âSince you are quite familiar with Tabby, do you think she is more lively. today?â Alaric was not as alienated as usual. Instead, he spoke like an ordinary elder talking to their younger about mundane stuff. He added, âSo did Malcolm. I saw he almost broke the spoon when he was eating. And he even ate several sauerkrauts.â
Emmanuel seemed puzzled. âI donât understand.â
Alaric explained, âMalcolm has hated the taste of sauerkraut since childhood. He ate a few spoonfuls today and didnât realize it. Itâs probably because he was angered from quarreling with Tabby. They used to keep a courteous distance and interact peacefully, but they never looked like a couple. Now that they started having loverâs quarrel, itâs a great progress.â
Emmanuel lowered his eyelashes to hide the coldness in his eyes.
He thought, âSo my existence didnât cause more conflicts between them but became an emotional catalyst instead?â
âManny, if youâre free, please help persuade Malcolm. A little quarrel is fine, but a big argument would be terrible. Tell him to take the initiative to coax Tabby,â Alaric said.
Emmanuel smiled helplessly. âMalcolm and I havenât been close since we were kids. He probably wonât listen to me.â
âHow are you two not close? Youâre both young adults, so you have something in common.â Alaric was a little dissatisfied and said, âUnless you donât want to help me?â
Emmanuel finally made a good impression on Alaric recently, so he could not let it go to waste and hurriedly said, âIâll give it a try.â
âThatâs more like it.â Alaric smiled happily and declared, âCheckmate.â
Alaric moved a white chess piece on the chessboard and took Emmanuelâs last black chess piece.
WPP D DNNOS 91% 15:05 Emmanuel praised Alaric for his excellent chess skills, but he was secretly analyzing what the latter said just now.
He felt that Alaric was warning him against butting into Tabitha and Malcolmâs relationship.
