Chapter 95
Chasing His Runaway Wife
In an instant, Tabithaâs blood was boiling throughout her whole body. She clenched her fingertips and pursed her mouth tightly.
She kept questioning herself and wondered, âSo, the person behind Naomi, the one protecting her, is really Emmanuel?â
Lorelai cried so miserably that she did not notice Tabithaâs mood change. She kept talking nonâstop..
She loved Emmanuel but was too scared to go to his rescue. After the tragedy, she always mentioned it to others and repeatedly expressed her regrets.
Emmanuel knocked on the door and entered out of a sudden. He frowned at his trembling mother, who was still crying. âWhy are you here?â he asked.
Lorelai answered as she wiped away her tears, âIâm here to visit Tabby.â In a low voice, she explained, âI was telling her about your father. I was just mentioning your handâ¦â.
Lorelai actually did not care much about Emmanuelâs feelings. She just felt that she could reduce her guilt by facing up to her mistakes.
Tabitha was worried that Lolerai would reveal the details about the opera. She lightly pressed the back of Lorelaiâs hand and shook her head.
Only then did Lorelai stop crying.
Emmanuel thought Tabitha was worried he might be uncomfortable upon hearing about his finger and nodded at her gratefully.
Tabitha was sizing him up silently.
She had been suspicious of Emmanuel before but did not dare to make a A F % 15:14 conclusion hastily without definite evidence.
Nonetheless, at this moment, she had basically made up her mind. She was just afraid that everything happened to be a coincidence, so she suppressed the surging hatred in her heart and smiled at him.
Tabitha seldom smiled recently. She was like a flower in the snow field. Even though she was beautiful, people tended to keep a respectful distance from her.
It was as if the ice and snow were melting when she smiled.
Emmanuel was in a daze when he saw her smile. His heartbeat suddenly accelerated.
He pursed his dry lips and asked in a low voice, âHave you eaten anything?â
Only then did Lorelai remember the beetroot soup she had brought. She had opened the lid and forgot to close it because she had just been crying. The soup had gone cold except for a few traces of hot steam.
âIâll heat it for you,â Emmanuel said as he picked up the food flask and walked out quickly.
As Lorelai could not help it, she commented, âThe two of you get along well. Manny used to be impatient toward ladies. He wouldnât treat them so carefully.â
Tabitha blinked and asked, âHas Emmanuel never had a girlfriend when he was abroad before? Or was he close to any girls?â
Lorelai shook her head and replied, âIâve never heard him mention it. He doesnât like to talk to me and keeps everything to himself. In addition, his grandfather usually asked him to do some dangerous tasks abroad. Heâs getting more and more dull in recent years.â
N N N âDangerous tasks?â Tabitha wondered.
Tabitha asked again, âWhat does Emmanuel do abroad?â
026% 15:15 Lorelai answered, âI donât know. He refuses to tell me.â She admitted in distress, âI know he hates me in his heart.â
Tabitha did not continue asking anymore.
Emmanuel would be back soon. If she asked too many questions, it would be easy for him to notice her intention.
Emmanuel took the food flask to the cafeteria with a gentle face as usual. He asked the worker there to help him heat it.
The cafeteria worker naturally agreed when she saw that he was so handsome and polite.
After heating the soup, Emmanuel deliberately passed by Malcolmâs ward when he returned to Tabithaâs ward.
He pretended to care about Malcolm for a while before getting down to business. âMalcolm, Iâm really sorry that Tabitha was injured this time. I will try my best to take care of her,â he said.
Malcolm frowned. While suppressing his anger, he warned, âEmmanuel, I donât care what your purpose is. Stay away from her!â
Emmanuel responded, âMalcolm, donât get me wrong. It was really my fault this time. Tabitha was kidnapped by my father.â He looked guilty as he continued, âSo Iâm trying to make it up to her. From now on, my mother will often make beetroot soup for me to bring to Tabithaâ¦â
Malcolmâs gaze immediately fell on the food flask in Emmanuelâs hand, and his eyebrows twitched uncontrollably.
Emmanuel said, âI heard you also hired several chefs to make beetroot soup.â His gaze flashed with some hidden pride as he continued, âBut it MMM 026% 15:15 seems Tabitha likes my motherâs cooking better. So I think you donât have to put in so much effort in the futureâ¦â
Malcolm knew that it was not that Tabitha did not like to eat the food cooked by the family chefs. She just did not want to have anything to do with him anymore.
She refused to get a divorce simply because she did not want to make way for Naomi.
Malcolm felt as if his stomach was gutted as he thought, âShe does not love me anymore. Otherwise, why didnât she respond at all when I kept showing kindness to her and implied that I was willing to take care of her and the baby?â
Malcolm responded, âTabitha is your cousinâinâlaw. Itâs reasonable for you to care about her.â Then, he suddenly declared in a deep voice, âAs her husband, I really need to thank you for everything you do.â
Even if Tabitha did not like him, he would never let her get so close to Emmanuel.
He was too vicious, and he used filthy tricks. He did not deserve to talk to Tabitha!
Emmanuelâs eyes narrowed slightly.
âAlthough there was nothing wrong with Malcolmâs words, why do I feel. that theyâre harsh and offensive? He broke Tabithaâs heart, and now he ordered me to keep a distance from her as his husband. Does he deserve. her?â Emmanuel wondered.
Malcolm went on, âTabitha likes me. I got hurt in order to save her. Despite not saying anything about it, I know that sheâs concerned about me. Naturally, she doesnât want me to worry about her anymore.â He did not know why he was saying this. Maybe he was hurt that Tabitha had never put her walls up when she was with Emmanuel.
MM M Then Emmanuel should not be having a good time as well.
EN 426% 15:15 âBut no matter how much Tabitha and I quarreled, itâs between us. You shouldnât interfere too much,â
stated Malcolm.
Emmanuel slowly clenched his fists.
He was originally here to provoke them. Nonetheless, in the end, he felt even worse.
