Chapter 9
Obscure Motives
A Vulnerable Grayson
Chapter Nine: Everything is gonna be okay
Grayson's POV
"Say what you want or leave!" I groan at Gwen who I don't even know why the hell she is here.
"I didn't believe it when Ross told me, I had to see it for myself." Gwen says and seats on the couch in my bedroom. Okay so maybe I didn't take Terry's rejection very well. Maybe I haven't been paying attention to my company, not been eating, or showering for that matter. At least am alive, after last week.
"Gwen get out of my house." I scream.
"Am still pissed at you for my engagement party stunt you did, but you are my brother and I love you. I don't want to see you like this." She gets up from the couch and comes to my bed. "Whoever this Terry is, trust me he is not worth it."
"That's where you are wrong Gwen, he is worth it." I turn my back from her.
"How can you want someone who makes you miserable?" She asks.
"How can you want someone who raped you?"
"How dare you?"
"Even if he changes his name to Liam, William will always be the monstrous being that he is." I pull my covers over my head signaling her am done with the conversation.
"It was a mistake coming here. And for your information, he didn't rape me." Gwen says as I hear her getting up from the bed. How dare she defend him?
"Oh my bad! He just touched you inappropriately without your consent, and if I hadn't found you, all that was left was for him to stick his dick in you. What is wrong with you Gwen?"
"Forget about Terry and I'll forget about Liam?" Gwen states.
"What?"
"You heard me. I have been thinking about it and I don't think I can be with him."
"Then don't."
"Then you have to stop moping around for this Terry dude."
"Fine." We shake hands to seal our deal. Not only am I not going to go through with giving up on Terry, I am going to try even harder now.  I smile at Gwen as she leaves my room content with the deal we made. This is pathetic. I have a company to run, I can't just sit and do nothing.
"Wow, you are actually here." Ross greats me as I enter my building. I decided it's better for me to distract myself from moping about Terry and actually do some work.
"Is Mr. Murray here?" I ask heading for the elevators.
"Yeah. When he heard about you wanting to meet him, he came as fast as he could." Ross says taking out the folder that has the plans from Mr. Murray.
"Then let's get the party started."
After the meeting with Mr. Murray we both decided that the investment he wants to make in my company is a very good idea. Considering he is one of the smartest people I have ever met apart from myself, I trust his choices.
"You're leaving?" Gwen whines as she throws herself on my couch.
"It's a business trip to New York and this is one of the most important deals I've had to make in a while." I collect all my papers and put them in the folder neatly.
"When are you going?"
"Friday morning. Escort me to the airport?"
"Hell yeah, I will. Look at my big bro making money." She says as she comes closer and pinches my cheeks.
"Gwen, we are not kids anymore. Can you please stop?" I push Gwen's hands away from my face in annoyance. "This deal is very important. If I get his investment, let's just say things will change for the better." I grin knowing how much more money I could make, not that I need it or anything.
"Well, am in. Just call me Thursday night to tell me what time we have to leave." Gwen gets up from my office couch and gathers her things. "See ya in two days." She gives me a kiss on the cheek and leaves. It's funny how both of us haven't mention the little deal we made. I know for a fact that she is still with Liam and she knows am pissed off about it, and that's why neither of us are saying anything.
I decided to give Terry a break and not bother him for a while. I want to concentrate on this deal so that everything goes well. Even though I miss him already, and he is stubborn as fuck, I have missed his stubbornness. I miss his hands flying everywhere every time he is yelling at me. I miss the shade of red that he has every time he is angry at me. Point of it all is, I miss him.
Danny Pike's POV
"I don't get him. Grayson is so sweet, yet he chooses that piece of shit." I gossip to Alice and Jim.
"Maybe he is stingy." Alice shrugs.
"Stingy? If Terry wanted a house in fucking Beverly Hills, fully furnished, with a Range Rover in the garage, Grayson would give it to him in a heart beat." I explain as we walk towards our apartment building.
"Then what's the problem? Is he a workaholic too?" Jim asks.
"He is the CEO and founder of GH Records, yet he comes here just for Terry to reject him. I think not." I answer.
"Then why?" Alice and Jim asks at the same time.
"Nobody knows. I'll see you guys later." I say goodbye as I enter my apartment. I close the door behind me and drop my book bag. Ugh! I hate college.
"Terry?" I call out to him so that he knows am home. "Terry? Bitch am home!" Nothing. Where the hell is he? I walk towards his bedroom and open the door. My jaw drops as I see Terry, my best friend shaking vigorously. He has what looks like four blankets covering himself up, yet he is still shaking.
"Terry? What the hell?" I fall to the side of the bed to see his face. He is completely drenched in sweat, yet he is shaking.
"I...I....am..... So.....cold....." Terry stutters trying to open his eyes.
"Terry what happened? Am calling 911." Before I could reach for my phone, Terry stops me with the little strength he has.
"Just.....give....me...some...soup...." He suggests.
"No! I need you to get to the hospital. Am calling 911." I grab my phone and dial the number I never thought there will come a day that I will use it.
"911 what's your emergency?" The lady with the soothing voice answers.
"My best friend Terry, he is shaking uncontrollably, and he has like five blankets piled on himself, yet he says he is cold. And he is sweating, and his body is really hot." I explain.
"Okay. What's your name?" She asks.
"Danny." Tears start falling down as I watch my best friend shivering.
"Danny, I have called an ambulance and got them on the way. I tracked your phone location because I know right now you are in shock. In the mean time I need you to make sure Terry is in a safe place when the paramedics get there. Do you understand?" The lady instructs me.
"Yes."
"Okay, good. Has this ever happened before or is this Terry's first time?"
"I have been best friends with him since freshman year in high school and I have never seen him like this."
"What can you tell me about Terry?" She asks the same time someone starts knocking on the door.
"Someone is at the door." I drop my phone and run towards it. I open the door to find the paramedics standing at the door. "That was fast." I direct them towards the bedroom. They examine Terry and put him on the stretcher. I watch them take my best friend out the door and into the ambulance. I stay back as I am instructed and watch the ambulance take my best friend. I run back upstairs and grab Terry's phone. I look for his dad's number and dial it.
"Hey honey." Mr. Baker answers cheerfully.
"Mr. B, its Danny. Terry was just taken to the hospital and I wanted to let you know because I am freaking out right now!" I explain in one breathe.
"What?" I hear the panic in his voice.
"I am going to the bank right now to send you some money for a flight to LA. It might not be much, but I think it should be enough for a one way." I gather my things and go out the door.
"Thank you Danny." He hangs up the phone after he finishes talking. I walk out of my apartment grabbing all the necessary things. I go to our next door neighbor's door and knock very aggressively.
"Jim?" I bang his door as loud as I could. Jim opens the doors with his cars keys and a jacket on.
"I saw everything, let's go." As we make our way into the lobby, everyone is staring at me. Damn! Can't people just not?
By the time I get to the hospital, it's about three hours since they took Terry to the hospital. After sending some money to Terry's dad, the traffic to go from the bank to the hospital was hell. But eventually we made it. As I make my way through the hospital, I look for the receptionist.
"Excuse me? Am looking for Terry Baker." I state.
"One moment please." The nurse types and types and types again. So annoying. "Am sorry but who might you be?"
"Am his brother." I say confidently knowing they only allow family.
"Fourth floor. Room 474B." She tells me.
"Thanks." I run towards the elevator in time and get on. I get to the fourth floor and straight to Terry's room. I open the door and find Terry laying down on the bed with a doctor examining him.
"Is he okay?" I ask.
"Yes he will be fine. He had a mild case of Pneumonia." The doctors states.
"Mild?" I ask confused.
"Mild as in he is lucky he came in early or it would have gotten worse. Even though the symptoms he was having was for extreme cases of Pneumonia, it was pretty mild. He'll need to be in the hospital for the rest of the week so we can monitor him. I'm going to have him on antibiotics for the next week and he will be back to normal." The doctor explains and leaves the room.
"Thank you God." I plunge myself on the chair and take out a large breathe.
"Everything is gonna be okay."
